70〜80年代イギリスのDIY／コミュニティ運動から生まれた一枚。クレジットを見ると17名の名前が書いてありますが、おそらくこの声はErrol Sweetlandによるもの。

このコミュニティは、音楽を「作品」としてではなく、「自分たちで作り、流通させ、生きる力を身につけるための実践」と捉えていた思想が刻まれているそうです。

マイナーなDIYフォークソウルでありながら、インディペンデント文化の原型を感じさせるレコード。

A record born out of the UK DIY and community movement of the 1970s–80s.

The credits list 17 names, but the voice is most likely that of Errol Sweetland.

This community viewed music not as a finished work, but as a practical process, something to be created, distributed, and lived through as a way of developing real-world skills.

Though a minor DIY folk-soul release, it carries the unmistakable DNA of what would later become independent culture.

ベースラインがぶりぶりなインストエレクトロBody Talk (Part 2)、80年代のNew waveと勘違いしそうなGot To Move (Part 2)、サンプリング元が思い出せないですが、Slo-moなハウスとなっているMelting Pot (Part 2)等をぜひ聴いてみてください！

A left-field, club-ready dance project crafted by Bim Sherman, the legendary reggae singer from Jamaica, together with Skip McDonald of ON-U Sound.
The entire record is simply outstanding from start to finish!!!

Make sure to dive into the tracks:

Body Talk (Part 2) a heavy, buzzing instrumental electro cut with a killer bassline.
Got To Move (Part 2) a tune that could easily be mistaken for an ‘80s New Wave track.
Melting Pot (Part 2) a slo-mo house groove; I can’t place the sample yet, but it’s insanely good.

Highly recommended listening for anyone into that crossover between reggae lineage, ON-U experimentation, and club music.

南アフリカでは著名なバブルガムのスター、ZiZi KongoことElizabeth Mkhwanaziによる95年、紛れもなくKwaito時代の作品です。

年代的に洗練されつつも、この国でしかなし得ない、メロディーライン、ビブラフォン、ドラミング、そして彼女の力強いズールー語によるボーカル。手に入れてからずっと聞き続けていて、先日の渋谷のMitsukiでNgidlalel 'Eduzeをかけましたが、好きすぎて自分が一番楽しかったです笑

ちなみにKwaitoをコレクト、発信し続けてる人は私の中で6人いまして、特にこのYoutubeにアップしているBikoは本当にすごい…　でも彼でさえもまだ手に入れてないKwaitoもあって、私は到底足元にも及びませんが、世界は狭いということで…

This 1995 release by ZiZi Kongo, a.k.a. Elizabeth Mkhwanazi, one of South Africa’s well-known Bubblegum stars - is unmistakably a product of the Kwaito era.
It sits in that perfect moment where the sound had begun to refine, yet still carried the raw, unmistakable musical DNA that could only come from South Africa.

The melody lines, the vibraphone touches, the drumming, and her powerful Zulu-language vocals all come together in a way that feels completely unique to this country and this era.
I’ve been listening to this record nonstop since I found it. I even played “Ngidlalel 'Eduze” at Mitsuki in Shibuya the other night- and honestly, I think enjoyed it the most because I love it so much😂

2000年代にドイツのオルタナロックSilke Bischoff、18Summers等名義を変えユニットを組んでいたアーティスト、Frank Schwerの最初期のソロ名義による93年作品。エレクトロニクスロックというべき通して素晴らしい作品。

This is a 1993 release from the very early solo days of Frank Schwer,
the German artist who later worked under names like Silke Bischoff and 18Summers throughout the 2000s.

It’s a stunning piece of work from start to finish, something you could call electronic-infused rock, full of that unmistakable early-’90s atmosphere yet still sounding remarkably fresh. A truly impressive early chapter in his discography.

オーストリア産New Beat、Big Bongなるアーティストの傑作。両面ともにサンプリング、アレンジ、展開等、すべてが神がかってます。タイトル曲は、イントロからブレイクするビートが入ってくる展開、オリエンタルな女性のコーラスワーク、後半のブレイクダウンも最高にかっこいい！！

Unerschütterliche Treueも同テイストで、骨の髄まで染み込む太いベースラインが特徴的なほぼインストの曲。

ちなみに私の盤は、ジャケもそうですがあまりにもきれいで、教えてくれたディーラーにブートって存在するの？と聞いてしまったほど。おそらく200枚ほどの極小プレスです。

An Austrian New Beat masterpiece by the mysterious artist Big Bong.
Both sides are absolutely divine — the sampling, the arrangement, the progression, everything feels almost supernatural in how perfectly it comes together.

The title track is insane: from the intro, the moment the breaking beat drops, the oriental-style female vocal layers, and that killer breakdown in the second half… it’s just flawless.

"Unerschütterliche Treue" follows the same aesthetic, a nearly instrumental cut driven by a thick, bone-deep bassline that sinks right into your body.
Another essential gem from this underrated project.

ブラジルのポップスAxeの多くの楽曲の中から。

バイーア出身のシンガーソングライターのRuy Limaによる洗練された作品。1988年のサルバドール・カーニバルのBloco Tentaçãoというパレードのリードソングにも使われたらしいFilhos de Gandhyが胸かきむしられる名曲！

Digging through the vast universe of Brazilian Axé, there’s one track that always stops me in my tracks.
Bahia-born singer-songwriter Ruy Lima crafted a remarkably sophisticated piece here, one of those tunes that reveals more layers every time you play it.

What makes it even more special is its history: it became the lead anthem for Bloco Tentação during the 1988 Salvador Carnival.
You can practically feel the streets of Salvador vibrating inside the arrangement.

Filhos de Gandhy is the kind of song that claws at your chest, emotional, melodic, and spiritually charged.
A true hidden gem in the Axé universe.

カリブ海に浮かぶ、グアドループのサックス奏者Camille Soprann Hildevertによる素晴らしいJazz作品。彼の作品はCaribean People - Gazz-Jazzも過去に紹介しています。

アルバムによってテイストも結構変わるのですが、本作はJazz。

特に"Soprann Aux Antilles"という曲がおすすめで、コーラスも挿入される泣ける1曲。Jazz DJの皆さんにもぜひ。不協和音のようなオルガンの音色も相まって哀愁漂うカリビアンサイケデリアな世界観も垣間見せてくれる最高の1曲。因みにカリビアンJazzを紹介するコンピレーション"Kouté Jazz"にも収録されています。

Here’s a wonderful jazz work by saxophonist Camille Soprann Hildevert from Guadeloupe, a beautiful island in the Caribbean. I previously introduced one of his other releases, Caribean People - Gazz-Jazz.

His style varies across albums, but this particular work is a solid jazz piece. A standout track is “Soprann Aux Antilles”, a deeply emotional tune featuring choral elements that make it truly touching. Highly recommended for jazz DJs as well.

The dissonant organ tones evoke a melancholic atmosphere, offering a glimpse into a Caribbean psychedelic world. This track is also featured on the renowned compilation Kouté Jazz, which highlights Caribbean jazz gems.

スーパーディーラー&セラーのArchive Digitalがアップロードして知った曲。

Frank Pisaniという人物が制作しているのですが、Discogsでは紐づけられておらず実はFrank Pisani名義で"Sky"というタイトルのアルバムを出しています。Skyはユニットとして名義になっています。ややこしい…

A release from the US progressive rock unit Sky, active since the 1950s.
I discovered this track thanks to the super dealer & seller Archive Digital, who uploaded it.

It's produced by a man named Frank Pisani, though interestingly, Discogs doesn’t link him directly to this release. In fact, he has an album titled Sky under his own name, while this one is credited to Sky as a unit—making things a bit confusing…

Arie Koesmiran – Disco Arab (8?) Suara Mas , Indonesia

インドネシアのジャワ島出身、当時ティーンエイジャーのArie Koesmiranというボーカリストが歌っている作品。

特にDisco Arabという曲がおすすめで、呪術的な怪しい男性の声に彼女の妖艶な声質、インドネシアはイスラム教や仏教が入り交ざった国ですが、その影響なのかArabをテーマにしたチープなシンセサイザーのサウンドも相まって非常に面白い曲となっている。

ちなみにこのジャケットはカセットテープのジャケットを12インチサイズに合わせて印刷した特別仕様のブートレッグジャケットになっている。元はインドネシアのレコードらしいプロモ12インチの状態だった。

インドネシアのレコードは、ジャケットも音源もわからなすぎて手を出さなかったが、最近インドネシアが私を呼んでいるかのごとく、複数人とやり取りしたり、個人でPoteto headの服を買ったり、周りにバリにバティックの生地を買い付けに行くような人とつながったりと、縁を感じ気になる存在となっている。

こちらはHidden Beatというシリーズのイベントで、インドネシアのYogiがプレイしていた作品。彼はEditしたバージョンをプレイしていたが、曲について問い合わせたら彼の知人経由で直接売ってくれることになりました。

This record features vocals by Arie Koesmiran, a teenage singer from the island of Java, Indonesia. The standout track is Disco Arab a captivating blend of mystical male chanting, Arie’s sensual voice, and cheap, lo-fi synthesizers. Indonesia is a country where Islam and Buddhism coexist, and perhaps influenced by that cultural fusion, the track adopts an "Arab" theme in a way that feels both surreal and hypnotic.

Interestingly, the jacket is a special bootleg edition: a blown-up reprint of the original cassette tape artwork, resized to fit a 12-inch sleeve. The original release was apparently a promotional 12-inch from Indonesia, without any proper cover.

For a long time, I avoided Indonesian records because there was so little information about the music or the sleeves. But lately, Indonesia feels like it’s been calling to me—I’ve found myself chatting with several people there, buying clothes from Potato Head, and connecting with people who go to Bali to source batik fabric. It’s definitely becoming a country I’m drawn to.

This particular record was played by Yogi from Indonesia during an event series called Hidden Beat. He played an edited version, and when I reached out to ask about the track, he arranged for it to be sold to me directly through a friend of his.

現在のジョージアがグルジア民主共和国だった1990年に録音されたジョージアになった翌年にリリースされた非常にマニアックな作品。プレスは旧ソビエトより。

「ジョージア人口統計学協会の創造団体『オルビ』の慈善委員会に属する、子ども合唱団『アイ・イア』」という長い正式名称の合唱団だそう。本作はライブ作品で全てグルジア語で歌われる非常に貴重な録音となっている。

АукционというAuctionという曲は、プログレロック〜ディスコ調の作品で鬼気迫るめちゃくちゃかっこいいトラックに合唱団のボーカルが乗る面白い曲。

A truly obscure release recorded in 1990, when present-day Georgia was still known as the Democratic Republic of Georgia, and released the following year—now under the newly independent nation. The record was pressed in the former Soviet Union.

The full name of the ensemble is quite a mouthful: the children's choir "Ai Ia" of the charitable committee of the creative association "Orbi" under the Demographic Society of Georgia. This is a live recording, and all songs are performed in Georgian, making it a rare and valuable document.

The standout track, Аукцион ("Auction"), is a wild and intense blend of progressive rock and disco influences, with the choir’s vocals soaring over a powerful and dramatic instrumental. An unexpectedly striking piece.

Carlos C Wardという人物によって制作されたエレクトロ・ファンクの隠れた名作。

詳細については全くわからないが、Special ThanksにGrady TateやQuincy Jones、Tony Sylvester、Roy Ayersなどの名前があるが、おそらくはこの作品に関わった問よりは影響を受けたという意味での感謝なのではと思います。

いわゆるブラコンなどと一線を画す、Proto house〜エレクトロ・ファンクな作品が目白押しで、個人的に、まさに現場でプレイしたいAll I Want Is A Love So Realや、A New Dayなどがイチオシ。

最近未発表がリリースされたDon BlackmanのYour Love Makes Me CrazyなどこういったBPM124くらいのエレクトロ・ファンクとの相性も良しでモダンソウル好きにも最高なはず。

A hidden gem of electro-funk produced by a figure named Carlos C Ward.
While almost nothing is known about the background of this release, the Special Thanks section includes names like Grady Tate, Quincy Jones, Tony Sylvester, and Roy Ayers. These are likely acknowledgments of influence rather than direct involvement in the project.

Packed with proto-house to electro-funk tracks that clearly stand apart from the typical “urban contemporary” or boogie sound of the era, it features highlights like All I Want Is A Love So Real and A New Day personal favorites I’d love to drop in a set.

It also pairs perfectly with other electro-funk tracks around 124 BPM, such as Don Blackman’s recently unearthed Your Love Makes Me Crazy. A must for fans of modern soul as well.

カルトなディスコで知られるPeter Brown , Patrick Adamsが発信するカルト的レーベルの一つQueen Constanceからの一枚。Cloud Oneのアルバムにも入っているJump Jump Jumpのボーカルバージョンです。

昔彼らの関連作は、結構たくさんコレクションしてたんですが、すべて手放しました…

でもこれだけは、当時知ってからもずっと出会いも買う機会もなく約２０年…当時から値段は上がってしまったけど、やっと手に入れました。

Youtubeにコメントがある通り、いつかけるんだってくらいのアップリフティングな曲。

Here’s one from Queen Constance, one of the cult-status labels run by Peter Brown and Patrick Adams - both legends in underground disco circles.

This is the vocal version of "Jump Jump Jump," which also appears on a Cloud One album.

I used to own a pretty big stash of records connected to those two, but I eventually sold them all... I first heard about it nearly twenty years ago, but I never stumbled across a copy , or a price I could live with , until now. The market’s gone up since then, but I finally managed to land it.

As one YouTube commenter joked, it’s so ridiculously uplifting you almost wonder when you’d ever dare to drop it in a set..😅

A work by Italian percussionist Ebreo. The album features musicians from various fields in Italy.

The “African Jungle” is a super Slo-mo proto-house with the sound of a bilimbau, and “Gong” is a mysterious cosmic italo-disco with the atmosphere of Pink Floyd's music, “Groove Town”, etc... All three are excellent EPs!

Razafinfrakoto SoloとNamanaという人物によるグルーヴィーなフォーク作品。

ここはなんといっても"Izy No Izy"という曲が最高！彼らのコーラスだけにとどまらずギターに合わせたユニゾンが素晴らしいです。チャカポコとしたリズムも気分があがりますね！

その他にも数曲良い曲を収録しています。

Groovy folk from Razafinfrakoto Solo and Namana.

The best song here is “Izy No Izy”! Not only the chorus, but also the unison with the guitars is wonderful. The sound of folk instruments is also uplifting!

There are also a few other good songs on this album.

Benê Ferreira, Lori Ferreiraらが中心となって82~83年にかけて制作された作品。

みなすに近い、サンパウロ州北部の街 Sao Jose do Rio PretoのMPB~フォークグループ。

コレコレ！と気分が高揚するメロディーの楽曲が目白押しです。

ものすごく短い曲ですが、最高の曲"Instrumental Realejo"をアップロードしているので聴いてみてくださいね。ちなみに実際の曲と長さのアルバムでの表記が違う気がします。

This album was produced between 1982~83, led by Benê Ferreira, Lori Ferreira, and others.

All songs are great through the album!

They have uploaded a very short song, “Instrumental Realejo,” which is one of their best songs, so please listen to it. By the way, I think the actual song and the length in the album are different.

Mariano Browというおそらくブラジルのサンパウロのシンガーソングライターの作品。

イントロから切ない展開のMPBソウル、"Astral"が素晴らしい。彼の抑揚のついたボーカルワークが冴える、ミナスの作品とも違う哀愁漂う1曲。その他にも"Afla"もよいです。

This is a work by Mariano Brow, a singer-songwriter probably from São Paulo, Brazil.

The intro of “Astral,” a MPB soul song with a sad development, is wonderful. The song is a melancholy one, different from Minas's work, with his intonated vocal work.

”Afla” is also good.

アルゼンチンのアーティストをカップリングした１２インチ。

A面の"The Originals"による"Vamos A La Playa (Intro Let's Go/Dance Remix)"は、Soundway Recordsからリリースされた"Síntesis Moderna"というアルゼンチン物のコンピレーションに収録されている。とにかくこの曲が好きでSpotifyで何度リピートしたことか！

New wave Discoとも言うべきか、不思議な魅力に包まれている。

この12インチを手に入れてから裏面を確認すると裏面もかなり面白いディスコ"Electric Gang　 - Ritmo 114"が収録されていて、こちらもタイミングを見てYoutubeにアップロードしようと思っている。

This 12” featuring a coupling of Argentine artists.

The A-side, “Vamos A La Playa (Intro Let's Go/Dance Remix)” by “The Originals” was included in the Argentine compilation “Síntesis Moderna” by Soundway Records. I love this song and I can't tell you how many times I've had it on repeat on Spotify! It could be called New wave Disco, and it is wrapped in a mysterious charm.

After I got this 12”, I checked the back side and found that it also has an interesting disco ‘Electric Gang - Ritmo 114’, which I will upload to youtube when the time is right.

インドのボリウッドでもボーカリストとして数々の受賞をしているPreeti Sagarによる作品。

"Jaane Jaan Na Bichhdenge"は、シンセサイザーを駆使したプロトハウスのようなシンセファンクで、彼女の儚く美しい美声がこのトラックに絶妙にマッチしており、非常に良質な曲となっている。

中盤から交番にかけてはいる弦楽器の音色や、ブレイクダウンもクラブを意識したような構成になっていて、非常におすすめ！値段もまだそこまで高すぎないのでほしい方はぜひ！

This is a work by Preeti Sagar, an award-winning vocalist in Bollywood, India.

“Jaane Jaan Na Bichhdenge” is a proto-house to synth funk track that makes full use of synthesizers, and her fragile and beautiful voice is a perfect match for this track, making it a awesome quality song.

The stringed instrumentation and breakdowns that start in the middle of the track and continue into the alternates are also very club-oriented, and highly recommended! The price is not too expensive yet, so if you want it, please check it on Discogs!

おそらくマルティニーク島等の出身と思われるアーティストによる作品。コカ・コーラかなにかの企画だったのでしょうか…！？

本作はデジタルズーク〜プロトハウスと思わせるキラーなトラック"La Via Pa Si Douce"を収録

ギラつくシンセ、女性コーラスがポップでかわいい曲です。

"Syn-Ka"で人気の出たシンセサイザー奏者Claude Rodapが参加していて、やはりこの素晴らしいサウンドは彼の手腕なのかもしれない。

ガーナ出身の打楽器奏者によるUKで制作されたアフロビートハウス"Alaiye"を収録したアルバムです。Mid-tempoでじわじわ気分が紅葉する感じが最高です。

コズミックな世界観を思わせる"Kilikilbo"も素敵な１曲です。ギタリストにHigh MasekelaやPaul Simonとも共演したボツワナ出身のJohn Selolwaneも参加しています。

This album features “Alaiye,” an Afrobeat house track produced in the UK by a percussionist from Ghana.

The mid-tempo of “Alaiye” is a great example of the uplifting feeling that slowly builds up.

Kilikilbo”, which evokes a cosmic worldview, is another great track. John Selolwane from Botswana, who has played with High Masekela and Paul Simon, is the guitarist on this album.

A proto-house track produced in 1988. The song is a funky, play timbales track with an almost instrumental narration by them, making it suitable for the dancefloor.

This is the only release under this name on Discogs, so I don't know the details.

The track sounds like one of Loft Classic's songs, but I can't for the life of me remember it... But, best of all, the jacket is great, right?

アメリカのミシガン州で制作された謎の作品。歌唱力の高いフィメールボーカルのSandra Bomerによるソウルフルなmid-tempoなハウスミュージック。カチャカチャとバックで鳴っている音がファンキーさがあっていいですね。

Discogsには彼女の作品はこちらのみ、サブスクにもないので詳細は不明です。

バルバドスをはじめカリブの音楽シーンを支えてきた多彩なミュージシャンであり、"Jingle King"と呼ばれていたWilloこと、グラハムウィルソンを中心としたユニットによる素晴らしい一枚。彼の作品はこちらで多く紹介されています。

この作品はおそらく彼のリリースした作品の中では極めて初期だろうと思われます。

一推しはBサイドの"Do What You Wanna Do"、

カリブ音楽のイメージを覆す浮遊感ある洗練されたシンセディスコで、個人的にカリビアンディスコとして"Stephen Encinas – Disco Illusion"級トップクラスのフェイバリット。

この曲を初めて聞いたのはおそらく7年ほど前で、その音源を見失ってしまい、アーティスト名もわからない状況が続いたのですが、本人がアップロードした動画にたどり着いたことで再び出会うことができました！

しかし大変残念な話なのですが、Willoは去年2023年10月に亡くなったようです。

This is a great synth disco single by Graham Wilson, aka Willo, called the “Jingle King” and a versatile musician who has supported the music scene in Barbados and the Caribbean. Many of his works can be found here.

This is probably one of his earliest releases.

I recommend the B-side “Do What You Wanna Do”,

It is a sophisticated synth disco that overturns the image of Caribbean music, and is one of my personal favorites like Caribbean disco on the highest level of “Stephen Encinas - Disco Illusion”.

I first heard this song probably about 7 years ago, and lost track of its source, and did not know the name of the artist, but I was able to find it again when I came across a video uploaded by the person himself!

But very sadly, Willo seems to have passed away last year in October 2023.

マドンナの名曲「美しい島」という意味のLa Isla Bonitaをまさかのカリプソブギーなアレンジでカバーしています。

もともとがラテン歌謡なだけに原曲を超えてしまうクオリティで圧倒されます。

このRohit Recordsは子供向け音楽の制作をしているPeter Pan Recordsのサブレーベルだそうで、Yellow Manなどもからリリースしていたりします。

アーティスト名を見て察するに、この曲のためだけのワンオフプロジェクトだったのかもしれませんね。

The quality of the song is overwhelming, surpassing the original song because it is originally a Latin song.

Rohit Records is a sub-label of Peter Pan Records, which produces music for children.

From the artist's name, it may be that this was a one-off project just for this song.
