term="Sleeping Habits" />
I sleep a lot less these days....

I am a student, and in my early twenties.
I have recently developed this habit of sleeping close to just 5 hrs a day, sometimes it goes to the highest of 6 hrs, but at times its as low as 3.5 to 4 hrs a day. so my sleep in short fluctuates from 3.5 to 6 hrs a day depending on the type of work I do throughout the day.

Living in a cold country, UK, I do feel like sleeping every now and then, however, I now start putting control on my sleep, as so far I have only realised one thing, sleeping over 6 or 7 hrs a day just adds laziness to life.

I must admit everyone around me suggests to sleep between 10 - 11 in night and then get up in about 7 hrs time, but I now tend to sleep late in night / early mornings like 4.30-5 am and get up by 8.30 am and then again take a short nap in afternoon after lunch if I feel like taking one. I have really started believing lately, that sleeping overly than what is needed is just a waste of some really valuable time.

I am a completely newbie in this world of less sleep and more work (my work is mainly mindful and not at all physical as an Accountancy student), but these days, these last 2 weeks, I feel like I have added some really great extra hours to my days and I am really a lot more productive than I was earlier when I used to have a strict sleeping schedule of sleeping by 11 and getting up around 6.30 anyhow, as even after I used to get up at 6.30, I would feel somewhat lazy due to freezing cold at times, and sometimes just because I live alone so feel like staying in bed for a bit more time.

About a few months ago I watched some videos on youtube related to body-building, inspirational videos, speeches of successful people and I was really moved by their less sleeping and more working habits. When it came to controlling sleep, they suggested most of the hours till your body is really exhausted, its nothing but a mind game, where you have to get a grip on your mind thats asking you to sleep as its time to sleep and not because you need to sleep. So if you can get a grip on your mind and one way of doing that is changing time in all the clocks around you, including on your computer, cellphone, to the time that you believe you are most active.
Initially you might feel this is fake, but after a few days, your mind somehow starts believing what it sees day and night repetitively, as a reason of which, you tend to work easily for long hrs. I mostly set my clocks to times of countries that are around 4 to 5 hrs behind my current time zone, so If I am in London (GMT 0.00), I feel like setting time according to the time zone of GMT (-0530 hrs) as it gives me that extra 5 and half hrs to go on working. Now you might find this stupid, but as I said, I just do what works for me. And somehow, magically or technically, it just WORKS !...

I think I will try and increase physical activity in early morning hours by doing some Yoga / Normal exercises, etc. so that I make up physically by staying more fit and not getting ill due to less sleep, and also if you stay more fit, you tend to have better stamina to have self control on whatever you do in life, may that be sleeping habits, or anything else.

Thanks again to the write of this article for putting up such a great insight on sleeping habits of some very famous personalities, really liked to read it..

This semester, which started from the month of July 2011, Kaplan introduced new Entrance Barriers at the Entrance of its Borough High Street Building, located at 179-191 Borough High Street, City of London SE1 1HR

Above is the google Map view of this centre.

Now coming back to the topic, We were knowing that the barriers were about to function somewhere near the start of Term 2 of the current Semester which begins in first or second week of the month of September 2011, however, surprisingly, I received an email from Kaplan Customer Services day before yesterday, informing of the barriers to start working from Monday Aug 8 2011, the first thing shooted in my mind as I read that email was, what was the meaning to pre informing students by circulating emails in advance, in this way, those students who are in Kaplan illegally or illegitimately, would get alert from talks around amongst other registered students, although I thought of discussing this with the Customer Services next day (Yesterday), but then, just thought, it doesn't really make any sense now, as the emails have already been circulated and that students are aware now very well of what is going to happen in the near future.

But to another surprise of me, the barriers started working YESTERDAY itself as the classes ended and students started leaving, it was awesome, in both ways, the way it worked and the way Kaplan started the barriers 1 working day in advance so that any students who didn't have Id cards won't be able to leave the premises now, as to leave the premises, they needed the Id cards to touch on the barriers for the barrier to them open up..

So in all, a really good experience, now more surprises are even about to come in near future when more students see this thing happening during the upcoming short term students at the Borough High Street Centre.

Although, I am completely unaware if this was being implemented in other centres as well of Kaplan Financial, but I am confident enough, if not today, might be sometime in near future, this was going to be implemented for sure in all its centre as the prime reason that stands in my eyes as a student of Kaplan, is to prevent students from attending classes without appropriate id cards, and also to prevent outsiders to just pop in anytime sometime for free wifi access and sometimes to use the Kaplan resources, like study rooms, cafe, washrooms, etc.. So yes... Much appreciated step by Kaplan Financial.

The only thing I am now waiting to see is, Kaplan changing the chairs in its classrooms, they are really uncomfortable and very old as well as told to us by fellow past students of Kaplan on various online communities.

p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Helvetica}
p.p2 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Helvetica; min-height: 14.0px}

Its not only your bones that get cracky or start showing of wear and tear as your Age Increases, but also the brain starts gently slowing down, both in reaction time and in the raw speed of learning new things, You might have seen, aged people often forget things, or have to write things down to make sure they make sense to them, this mainly is seen in daily routines while shopping for household items, Aged ones are asked to get something and they instead get something else...

There are ways to compensate for ageing and having brain memory remain strong, one way is to expose it to lot of things that make it think every now and then, may that be a simple way of learning a new way to office while driving or solving puzzles in newspapers or online, or even watching good documentaries, actively participating in sports and other get to gathers for discussions, etc. The more active your brain remains the more likely it is to stay up in its memory power and the speed with which it reacts back to things or problems.

Another way is to make sure to remain physically fit, not like an athlete, its not necessary to have six packs or run a marathon every 3 to 6 months (although would be a good thing if you run one in an year, just run, winning is not the necessity), but keeping fit in general like daily workout of 45 minutes which includes cardio (like some jogging), some stretching (to help relax your muscles and let every cell in your body have ready supply of Oxygen whenever it needs to react) and if possible some nice extra training which might be dance, Aerobics, Yoga, Weights, etc…. Anyone would be sufficient (you can have a mix of them designed on your schedule though).

Travelling would also add to it, mostly to nice interesting places (places that interest you), as the more you get out of normal routine, the more your brain has chances to face different scenarios and situations and different things, which makes it react in a different way, and the more this happens, the better your brain gets trained and developed to make sure ageing doesn't prove to be a hazard to its reaction speed or raw learning power.

So TRAIN YOUR BRAIN….
Back in the year 2010, which was during my first semester of Kaplan Financial in London, I got to know about En-Gage which is an online portal for Kaplan Students. Those who are unaware of what it is and how it works, I would suggest you to visit this link http://www.en-gage.co.uk.

En-Gage is basically an online study portal, where in registered Kaplan Students or those who have purchased any material from Kaplan can see their material online, read articles related to their study topics, see pre-tuition tests with their solutions, have Fixed Tests for every major topic in their syllabus and most of all, an interim assessment and a Final Assessment, which is basically one of the most recommended tests that you should give just a couple of weeks before your exam, and this should be given in Exam Scenario, which means, strict time must be followed and should be given all in one sitting, it has to be like actual Exam as if you were sitting in Examination Hall.

I recently got to know about the troubles that Mac users face when they try to access En-Gage mostly on their in built browser like Safari, The video lectures / recordings don't open up properly, or sometimes the study modules or online versions of the study text books don't work properly and many a times, people are just not able to see any content whatsoever, just because they were not using Internet Explorer on a Windows based computer, however, En-Gage was recently under maintenance for a couple of days, i think from 6 Jul 2011 till 8 Jul 2011, and basically they were doing some major changes to it, one of the most important one being, single sign in, which means, just one username and password to access your all details as a student in Kaplan as well as to use En-gage on Kaplan.

After this maintenance, I did send an email to En-Gage Support team which is actually quite responsive, in regards to incompatibility with Mac Computers along with a request to at least add support for other Browsers like Chrome or Firefox so that Mac users can get something to use, its better than nothing whatsoever, and in return I received an email from them, quoting that they might consider support for Mac in near future however, they have added support for Firefox this time, and that, if you can use Firefox on your Mac (which obviously we can) then you can access En-Gage very well on your Mac.

As a result of this, I just tried it today to access En-Gage after having updated to latest version of Firefox, which is Firefox 5.0.1, and i realised, it was actually working really nice.

How you can download Firefox (latest version), pleas CLICK HERE.

So, all you Mac users wanting to use En-Gage, please don't bother yourself with installing Windows through Boot Camp just because your Studies demand so, they don't actually, you can use En-Gage just like all other Windows users out there.

All the best! Cheers!

I am currently in Birmingham and it has apparently bean around 14 hours since I am here now. It feels really good, really calm everywhere around us. By God’s Grace, and thankful to my landlords and their relatives, who are really like a family to me now, I have been given a separate room for myself, where I can study, work, write, listen to music, read my books, surf internet and so on.. So in all, I have my own place in this wonderfully beautiful house.

After entering this house, I was imagining all that I was thinking while on my way on the motorway, all about the aim of my life, why I have come to UK and what is that I ultimately want, and all I realised is, I met my dreams on the way towards my AIM of Life. It was more like, MY dream just came across and greeted me saying, this is what I look like, see me, feel me, touch me, embrace me, enjoy me and today you are working hard for me so just be rest assured, one day I will be ALL YOURS.

The dream to make a beautiful house, which my family would then make it into a HOME. The dream to give a beautiful life to my parents and my family. The dream to make my parents feel proud of me, the dream to touch the sky one day (As Touching the sky for me is nothing but seeing immense happiness in the eyes and face of my parents, due to me). I feel really touched, I feel like my soul is wholly touched after I came here. Although I have been seeing this dream for years and years since the time I started my working career, I always thought of this in my heart, in my mind, in my thoughts and tried to feel it as if I was in it, and I was enjoying my dreams. Now I have been living in London for over 8 months almost, having made loads of good friends, travelling to the rich city on a daily basis, travelling on one of the World’s Busiest Tube (Metro) network ever, I never really saw this dream of mine just infront of my eyes till yesterday. Last night, as I was entering the house, all I could do is close my eyes and imagine this is what it will be next, this is how the house will be, this is where the living room has to be, this is where the garden must be, and whatever I was trying to imagine, it was all coming true. The moment I opened my eyes, all I could really think off is, THIS IS MY DREAM. I WANT TO ACHIEVE THIS IN MY LIFE. And on my way towards my aim of life, I just saw my dream and I am feeling it now.

The day has just started, there would ofcourse be loads more to experience and see. And Now I can really think it off as THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS. All that we think do materialises. Its just the matter of thinking positive and good all the time, the moment we do that, we win this world, we win everything we could imagine to have in our lives. I don’t know what people call it, but it was nothing less than LAW OF ATTRACTION. I don’t know if you would call it Law of Attraction or whatever the hell you call it, but all I know is, its WORKING. I can imagine everything materialising for me all that I think, negative or positive doesn’t matter, but it is just materialising.

However, as I said, the day has just started, lets see how things roll ahead in life. And I am thankful to God for all that he has bestowed me with so far and I am sure there is much much more to come ahead in life. Just can’t control the excitement. Let’s see, will try and write as much as I can.

I must say, I have been on Google Adsense since the beginning of 2008, however I have not been active on it for over an year now, in fact for over two years now, probably that is the reason why my earnings just stopped all of a sudden on Google Adsense.

But the other day, I received an email from Google, saying that your payment is on its way, and it made me check my account of Google Adsense, which I thought would not even be existing anymore, and when I checked it, I saw that they have sent the payment through Check on my Home address in India. The payment was of $100.45.

They have sent it having converted into INR (Indian Rupees), I guess there was an option in account settings of having currency converted to your local currency before the cheque is sent to you or do you want the cheque to be sent in USD itself, I selected local Currency (INR) because the banks in India normally have very high charges for converting International payments to Indian Rupees, especially when it is USD / GBP (dont really know why, but I have always seen so).

In INR it shows INR 4524.27. As I am in UK at present, I asked my brother to scan the cheque before he deposits it into the bank, and he has done so, however I can't post it here as I have seen that people often delete or make certain parts of the cheque invisible before they post the scan or picture of the cheque online, I think due to some security reasons, as I am not aware of what should I not disclose on cheque.. I am not planning to post the scan copy of it online here.

Anyways.. Happy to have my first payment received from Google Adsense, this encourages me to try and keep writing or posting online on blogs to get me earn even more in future!

However, after lots of rumors (or I would say real discussions), many job sites have even added "Home Based Jobs", "Work at Home", etc. other such categories to their list of categories of jobs / occupations, and thus work at home opportunities got a new recognition from then onwards.

I, as a young student, am very much interested in lots of work at home opportunities, and no doubt that is one of the biggest reason I have been blogging as well as trying to get in touch with various people, about whom I believe can be of any use to me to get some legitimate work at home job, rather than only the scams that first ask for some fees to join...

I have been recently going through some sites for online work or work at home opportunities, and came across some legitimate sites like:

<a href="http://www.workathomenoscams.com/"target="_blank">Work-at-home-no-scams
This guy named Eddy Salomon, calls himself a successful "work at home'aholic". He has listed a lots of things online on his website, and on a regular basis, keep reviewing many things, that he thinks can be a good opportunity for work at home job seekers. In fact you can even subscribe to his newsletter so that you can get updates directly into your mailbox, whenever he posts any new job opportunity.

Another good site, that I have come across is beyond.com, even this site lists a lots of jobs online for work at home opportunities, and you can search job according to your location, specialization, qualification, talent and so on and on... So this is another good site, about which I get some positive vibes, when it comes to searching online jobs..

However, just a few hours back, I received an email from <a href="http://homejobstop.com/"target="_blank">homejobstop.com, it was indeed a newsletter where they had posted the article written by someone named: Stephen Farrow.

The article is as follows:

Seven Tips to Phone Etiquette for the Work at Home Professional

Working from home can be a blessing for many. By liberating workers of the day-to-day minutia of office politics and micromanagement, home based professionals are free to explore their own independent path to success and challenge their own productivity. Still, being in contact with management and co-workers is vital to keeping up with and staying connected to everyday operations.

E-mail and instant messaging have bridged the gap between home and office worker but often lack the nuances of speaking directly to another person. Sometimes person-to-person contact can clarify questions and details that are easily overlooked in text-based communications. Here are several ways you can bolster your etiquette in phone conversations.

Plan Important Calls. No one likes to be blindsided. Scheduling your phone conversation in advance allows the recipient to be prepared, aware, and accessible at the time of your call. Availability, time zone differences, and even lunch breaks can be a factor so always try to e-mail or contact your party beforehand to establish an acceptable time to call.

Be Available. When setting up a phone meeting, make sure that you’re available and prepared at the time agreed upon. Write notes or reminders if needed. If a conflict does arise, let the party know as urgently as possible so that the meeting can be postponed or rescheduled in a timely manner.

Test Equipment. A crucial call to the boss is not the time to wonder if that old, extra phone you hooked up works properly or to find that your cell phone reception tops out at one bar when you’re in your office space. Make sure that all of your communication equipment is in working order and educate yourself on its functions (such as ‘mute’ and ‘hold’) before making or taking any key calls.

Talk Clearly. Speak with a clear, confident voice. When asking for assistance on issues that you are uncertain of, keep a professional and poised tone to your voice and avoid mumbling or talking too quiet. Try to direct your voice into the mic instead of bringing the mic closer to your voice.

Be Organized. Have your agenda prepared and in order. Have papers and notes ready and within reach and steer clear of hesitations and rustling through papers, looking for crucial documents. E-mail any documents you plan to refer to beforehand and make a list of questions before you make the call.

Take Notes. No matter how good your memory, take notes as you go along. Nothing is more embarrassing as having to re-ask questions later that were already covered or explained to you during the phone meeting.

No Distractions. Avoiding distractions is important for all home working endeavors, but even more critical when you have a significant colleague on the other end of the line. As always, let family and friends know that you are working and should not be disturbed. Stress that you have an important business call to help insure you are in a noise-free and distraction-free environment. Most importantly, never try to accomplish other things or multitask while you are in a phone meeting or conference. Always keep your focus on the conversation at hand in a meaningful and professional manner.

However, the article is really very good, but after going through this site, I got to know that this site is actually a good site in terms of no paid advertisements or commercial banners, but as said... There are no FREE LUNCHES in this world, so you have to actually pay a amount to get access to their so called HOMEJOBSTOP Bank, which lists a variety of online jobs that you can do right from the comfort of your home, after googling it up and looking at the user reviews, one review I really found useful is:

<a href="http://www.squidoo.com/ahomejobstopReview"target="_blank">http://www.squidoo.com/ahomejobstopReview

This link mentioned above, gives complete details about this site, as well as the kind of job you can find in the HOMEJOBSTOP Bank, so you must go through it if you are considering to buy their List of Jobs, the so called "HOMEJOBSTOP Bank"...

However, on a personal note, I would like to say, that we must never pay to get an online job, or to get the list of jobs, as that is really very untruthful where you have to pay to get list of jobs.. You can rather use sites like <a href="http://beyond.com"target="_blank">beyond.com, <a href="http://freelancer.com"target="_blank">freelancer.com, <a href="http://elance.com"target"_blank">elance.com, etc. to get list of jobs available online where you can work from the comfort of your home, get paid online for your work and you don't even have to pay anything for this.

Apart from all this, if you have not paid anything, there is actually a sense of peacefulness in mind, that even if this turns out to be a scam or some non legitimate scheme, you won't end up losing your money in this..

But still, choices are many and so are the opportunities.. you are your own decision maker and you have to decide whats good and whats not good..

Any comments are most welcome ... And any other sites for legitimate home based job.. please feel free to post in comments!.

London is undoubtedly a great place to be at, the weather is just awesome almost all the time and the temperature is mostly around 15 – 20 degrees (Celsius). If you are coming from a warm area, like India, Pakistan or any other such places where you are not habitual of being at such low temperatures, I would personally suggest to bring at least two winter wears which can be jackets, sweaters, and additionally some muffler or ear straps to cover your ears properly. It rains here almost all the months, and you can never predict when it may rain. Another interesting thing is, people here are mostly dependent on internet for everything, even if they have to wash clothes, they first check the weather predictions online and if it seems like not rainy or sun shining only then they wash their clothes so that they can dry their clothes in proper sunshine. However, internet is not still that accurate, as no one can predict the exact situation of the weather.

I have been here for a few weeks till now, something that I would like to share are the following things, here the public transport is very familiar and easy to understand if understood properly, whether or not someone is coming to pick you up at the airport, it’s always very easy to travel from the airport to whichever place you wish to throughout the UK.

The National Express coaches are always there, if you wish to travel using buses, and if you wish to travel using one of the fastest ways in UK, which is Tube (Metro Train), also known as underground trains, the Heathrow express takes from terminal 1 to 5 to whichever part of London you want to. You might have to change trains and the tube maps are available online as well as at all the tube stations for free, pick 2 -3 maps, so that even if you lose one, you have other in spare. You can even easily plan your journey on http://www.tfl.gov.uk the TFL stands for Transport For London. It is the government site for planning journeys, knowing the latest traffic situations, downloading bus as well as tube maps, checking the fare price and so on… you must really have a look at this site as this gives a very good idea of transport in London even if you are not going to travel by it the very first time you reach London.

The journeys can be planned online on TFL website, and it will show you the easiest and fastest route using the combination of Tube, National Rail, Bus and walk (if the distances are just less that you can walk rather than taking a public transport). Please take care of one thing, if you are going to travel by public transport, please do get yourself a OYSTER CARD, this is like a easy top up card, with the help of which you can just touch this card while boarding the buses / trains and all, and you don’t have to spend money in cash, and it’s a lot cheaper to use Oyster rather than cash, Oyster comes at a refundable deposit of 3 pounds, and additionally you can top up for as low as 1 pound, but do top up a minimum of 7 pounds with the help of which you can travel unlimited throughout London, this is known as daily price cap, which means, if you have travelled at least worth the daily price cap amount, rest of all the journeys are going to be free for you, but that doesn’t mean, you don’t have to touch your OYSTER card on the yellow card reader while boarding the buses or trains. You have to still touch it on the yellow card reader, but that becomes completely free for you, no money is deducted from your OYSTER Card.

If you want to know more about daily price caps and other such information, please visit http://www.tfl.gov.uk that is the best site for every single query in regards to transport for London.

In London, you are charged for per ride, and not for the distance you have travelled, meaning, whether you sit at one bus station and you drop at next or drop at last station, the price remains same, which is 1.20 pounds using Oyster or 2 pounds using CASH (these figures are for Red Buses).

Apart from this, another thing that you might notice here is the bus system, it’s pretty smooth and easy as you always know within how much time the next bus is going to arrive and at what bus station you can get the bus towards your destination. And the same applies to tube. Here tubes are identified by the lines, like Northern Line, Bakerloo Line, Metropolitan Line, Jubilee Line, etc... And the bus stations are identified by bus number, bus station name and the bus station symbol. This symbol is a unique thing which tells you from which side of a particular road you have to take the bus. A bus might go towards north as well as towards south and the bus number might also be the same, in such a scenario you must look at the round Symbol having one or two alphabets written at the top like X, C, H, E, CX, etc. An example of the same is, say you have to travel from The Wealdstone Centre to Wembley Stadium Station, for this you have to take bus, with route number 182 from Stop F which goes towards Brent Cross Shopping Centre, now here in this explanation of taking bus you don’t have to worry about nothing, as you might think about which way is towards Brent Cross Shopping Centre, all you need to do is Reach the bus stand, and look for the top symbol, where it shows “F” in a round circle with mostly RED background. So you have to take bus from this stop, and the bus that you have to take is bus number 182. So just climb in bus number 182 as and when it arrives, and wait for the announcement inside the bus, as and when Wembley Stadium Station is about to come, there will be an announcement inside the bus and the name of the next station will appear on the inside screen, that will let you know that you have reached your destination and you need to leave the bus here.

Don’t forget to touch the oyster card on the yellow reader as you board the bus, or if you don’t have a oyster card or your oyster card doesn’t have enough balance, you can buy ticket from the driver itself sitting on the inside counter at the driver’s seat. Here there are no conductors who would come at your seat and ask you where you have to go and accordingly sell you a ticket, so you have to yourself be careful to take the ticket or touch your oyster card at the yellow card reader.

I will come up with more things to share in due course of time. I am sorry, my experiences are not enough or not put systematically as I am yet to categorize them and make them more easily readable and understandable.
