PositiveID will jointly exhibit M-BAND with The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) and Hamilton Sundstrand.

M-BAND, developed under contract for the Department of Homeland Security by MFS, is an early warning system designed to detect the intentional release of aerosolized biological agents . It runs autonomously for up to 30 days, continuously analyzing air samples, typically in high-traffic areas, for the detection of bacteria, viruses, and toxins with results in as little as three hours. Results from individual M-BAND instruments are reported via a secure wireless network in real time to give an accurate and up to date status for fielded instruments in aggregate. Designed with a high level of operational flexibility, M-BAND can be remotely set to detect for DNA-based pathogens alone, with or without either RNA-based organisms or toxins, or for all three types of pathogens simultaneously at remotely programmable intervals.

With your three diabetes management technologies, Easy Check™, GlucoChip™ and iglucose™, can you give investors a quick summary of some of the recent key developments announced by the Company and some of the key drivers for 2012?

We continue to make significant progress with each of our diabetes management products. Starting with Easy Check, our non-invasive breath glucose detection device, we completed a prototype device in 2011 and achieved positive preliminary results in early testing that are within industry standards. We recently announced the initiation of a clinical study of Easy Check with Schneider Children’s Medical Center in Israel, led by a world leading endocrinologist. We expect to have results from that study later this year.

Moving on to GlucoChip, a continuous glucose-sensing microchip, we have completed Phase II development and proved a stable and reproducible, closed-cycle continuous glucose sensor that functions in human blood. We also recently provided an update on a biotransport study we are conducting with the Diabetes Research Institute at the University of Miami, which has yielded positive preliminary results. We will continue to provide updates on our progress over the next few months. As those results develop, we will look to work with a partner to incorporate the glucose-sensing system with a micro-electromechanical system signal transduction unit and the electronics of a radio frequency identification microchip to complete development of GlucoChip

F.V.Ramsoondar states: "The quarter ended September 30, 2011 continued to reflect the results of the restructuring and cost management that was initiated earlier in the year. My focus will be to continue to build profitability back into the Company, which will enable my team to deliver on our growth strategies.
(1) EBIITDA = Earnings before interest, impairment, taxes, depreciation and amortization
(2) EBIITDAS = Earnings before interest, impairment, taxes, depreciation and amortization and share-base payments.

Pursuant to a press release dated October 24, 2011, the Company is in the process of closing a new receivable financing facility of $4.5 USD million dollars, which does not impose any financial covenants. The Company's current receivable financing facility is capped at $3 million CAD and imposes a financial covenant that is currently in breach. Mr. Ramsoondar has executed a personal guarantee for the new facility and will be issued 8 million common shares of the Company at $0.05 per share as compensation. This $400,000 non-cash cost will be reflected in the Company's Q4-2011 results. The new facility will enable the Company to finance its organic growth plans effectively.
Revenue
Revenue was $8,758,376 for the third quarter 2011 compared to $8,496,968 for the comparative period, an increase of $261,408 or 3.08%. The increase in revenue is primarily related to sales and marketing efforts the Company deployed over the last two financial quarters.
Gross margin
Gross margin was $1,635,321 (18.67%) for the third quarter 2011 compared to $1,463,313 (17.22%) for the comparative period. The increase in gross margin is attributed to controlling overtime costs and managing other operational costs effectively.
Operating costs
Operating costs remain consistent at $7,123,055 for the third quarter 2011 compared to $7,033,655 for the quarter 2010.
Selling and administrative expenses ("S&A")
S&A totalled $1,233,212 for the third quarter 2011 compared to third quarter 2010 at $1,407,511, reflecting a decrease of $174,299 or 12.38%, the direct impact of the management cost-restructuring plan implemented in May 2011.

Edmonton, Alberta CANADA - October 24, 2011 (InvestorIdeas.com Newswire) - United Protection Security Group Inc. (TSX-V:UZZ Venture), F.V.Ramsoondar, Chief Executive Officer of United Protection Security Group Inc. ("UPSG" or the "Company"), (TSX-V: UZZ) is pleased to announce that the Company has entered into a new receivables financing agreement with an international lender based in New York City. The new facility will allow the Company to pay out its existing lender and will also provide more working capital flexibility for planned growth.

The new facility limit will be $4.5M USD, compared to the $3M CAD limit the Company has with its current lender. The new facility does not impose any financial ratio covenants, and is secured by a corporate guarantee and also a by personal guarantee of the Chief Executive Officer of the Company. In consideration for the personal guarantee, the Company's board of directors has agreed to issue 8 million common shares at a price of $0.05 per share to Mr. Ramsoondar, subject to the closing of the transaction and approval of the TSX Venture Exchange. Upon the completion of this transaction Mr. Ramsoondar's shareholdings will exceed 15% of the total issued and outstanding shares of the Company.
The international lender also has term debt and equity financing facilities, which the Company will consider utilizing for its acquisition growth strategies.

TransTech continues to enjoy revenue growth year-to-date on a calendar basis over the same period in 2010. There have been a few special projects which have increased revenues. Meanwhile TransTech continues to strengthen and grow its customer base. The number of resellers with orders in the system during the last few months has remained ahead of last year.

Typically, low employment translates into less need for corporate or contractor ID badges. Yet while the national employment situation has not improved much over last year, some sectors have increased their requirements. In comparison to last year, July and August revenue has been fueled by decent seasonal strength in the School ID market. This segment has been stronger than 2010 for many of TransTech’s resellers. The back order and current bid pipelines remain reasonably strong as of the end of August. If the trend holds for September TransTech will show growth for the 3rd quarter of the calendar year.

Revenues

Revenue was $16,509,272 for the six months period ended June 30, 2011, compared to $17,350,443 for the six months ended June 30, 2010, a decrease of $(841,171) or (4.85)%. The overall decrease in revenues is largely attributable to the additional one time revenue the Company recognized in 2010 from the 2010 Winter Games.

Gross margin

Gross profit was $2,893,029 (17.52%) for the six months period ended June 30, 2011, compared to $4,006,853 (23.09%) for the six months period ended June 2010. The decrease in gross profit is directly related to the reduction in revenues relating to the 2010 Winter Games.

Operating costs

Operating costs were $13,616,243 for the six months period ended June 30, 2011,compared to $13,343,590 for the six months period ended June 30, 2010, an increase of 2%. The increase is due to reclassification of accounts in 2011 and not an increase in delivery of service.

Selling and administrative expenses ("S&A")

S&A totalled $2,431,697 for the six months period ended June 30, 2011, compared to $3,121,414 for the six months period ended June 30, 2010, a decrease of $689,717 or 22.10%. The decrease is attributed to the continuing impact of the cost restructuring plan management initiated in May 2011.

Amortization

Amortization expense increased due to additional amortization recognized from the reclassification of intangible assets from goodwill and amortization of intangible assets acquired in 2010.

The order is to supply air data systems that include its integrated multifunction probe ("IMFP") and related equipment for the production of the jet trainer aircraft.
Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc (NASDAQ:KTOS) shares climbed 0.65 (6.36%) to $10.87. On July 27, 2011, Integral Systems, Inc. completed the previously announced merger of IRIS Merger Sub Inc., a Maryland corporation and a wholly owned subsidiary of Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc., with and into Integral Systems, whereby Integral Systems became a wholly owned subsidiary of Kratos.
Visualant, Incorporated (OTCBB: VSUL) shares rose 0.010 (7.62%) to $0.14. Recently, Visualant, a Seattle company specializing in anti-counterfeiting technology, agreed to sell up to $3 million in shares of common stock to venture firm Ascendiant Capital Partners.
Irvine Sensors Corporation (OTC: IRSN) added 0.015 (15.00%) to close at $0.115. Recently, it has entered into a Distribution Agreement with JXP Tech ("JXP"), the U.S. company that represents Dong In Optical Co., Ltd. ("D.I. Optical "), the South Korean manufacturer and exporter of various weapons sights and mounts that have been adopted by the South Korean Army and law enforcement agencies, as well as being exported to other countries.

Early this year we licensed Visualant technology to Javelin LLC, a Seattle based technology company, for the limited purpose of focusing upon environmental applications of our Spectral Pattern Matching technology. One of the applications for the technology, I read on your website, includes the ability to help define and diagnose disease. Can you tell us more about that?

To make the point that our technology can play a role in defining and diagnosing disease I often say to people, “Have you ever said, ‘You don't look well.'” When you say that, you are making a judgment based upon visual cues, including color. Disease is not static. Color changes during a disease process. Interestingly, there are 2000 year old Chinese texts that speak of using color as a diagnostic. We believe there are numerous medical diagnostic applications for our SPM technology.

How does your technology compare to other competitive technologies in the market?

We don't see any directly competitive technology in the marketplace today. Spectrometers are competitive, but they are very expensive and fragile. We believe we have an advantage both in terms of utility and price point and see no direct competitors today.

SEATTLE - July 18, 2011 (Investorideas.com Defense Newswire) - Visualant, Inc. (OTCBB: VSUL), a pioneer provider of industry-leading identification solutions, issued the following shareholder letter:

Dear Shareholder:
June 30, 2011 is the close of our third fiscal quarter. I want to take this opportunity to highlight the Company�s several accomplishments over the past quarter.
Visualant closed approximately $1 million in financing. This financing allows us to grow the business both internally and through acquisition.
With funding in place, we completed the acquisition of Visualant related assets from the RATLab LLC. The RATLab LLC is owned by Dr. Tom Furness, co-inventor of the Visualant Spectral Pattern Matching (�SPM�) technology. Visualant secured all rights, title and interest to the SPM technology in the important fields of use of medicine, agriculture and the environment. Additionally, Dr. Furness is now a consultant to the Company and is Visualant�s Senior Scientific Advisor. Also, as part of the RATLab asset acquisition, Dr. Brian Schowengerdt, a co-inventor of the SPM technology, joined the Company as a consultant and will be working on productizing the company�s SPM technology.
During the quarter, the Board of Directors appointed Marco Hegyi as Chairman. Mr. Hegyi, a senior technology executive formerly with Microsoft and Yahoo, is actively focused on bringing products to market which embody and exploit Visualant�s SPM technology. Working with our scientists and Visualant board member Paul R. Bonderson Jr., Mr. Hegyi is driving the rapid deployment of our technology from its current demonstration form to a market ready product that generates revenues.
Our SPM technology maps color at the photon level and with our algorithms, uses that color mapping to authenticate and diagnose. The potential for our SPM technology is so innovative and unique that it has the potential to create new industry standards and applications.
Working with Visualant consultant Lance Gima, former head of the forensic laboratory for the State of California, the Company applied for a significant grant to focus on the applications of the SPM technology in forensic science. Mr. Gima sees application for SPM technology both in crime scene and crime laboratory analytics. While there can be no assurance of success in our grant application, we intend to pursue this and other research and development grants to extend the reach and application of our SPM technology.
Visualant licensee Javelin LLC, as previously announced, is investigating environment applications of SPM technology. They are focused on detecting minute amounts of oil in water and water in aviation fuel among other target markets. Javelin performed a laboratory test where they successfully differentiated between ten vodkas. That was a stunning result which has applicability to their broad environmental diagnostic work with our SPM technology.
The acquisition of TransTech closed on June 8, 2010, and provides Visualant with approximately $10 million in annual revenues. The TransTech acquisition was financed by a three year promissory note. The note is to be paid off over 3 years, in annual installments, the first of which was paid on June 8, 2011. The remaining two payments are due in 2012 and 2013.
In early April of this year TransTech participated in the largest security industry show in the US, the International Security Show and Exposition, in Las Vegas. TransTech�s participation in the show was a great success. In addition to show-casing the various products distributed by TransTech, the Visualant SPM technology was demonstrated to a number of potential partners and end users.
In addition to participating in a number of industry trade shows and events, TransTech was busy expanding the reach and revenue of its business and is pleased to announce the following milestones this past quarter:

A distribution agreement with Farpointe for their Access Card Programmer;
The incorporation of access card programmer into ID card printers;
The introduction of private labeling of ID badge bundles and supply kits for their 300 plus dealer network;
The TransCam ID capture solution for rapid and secure ID badge creation;
The launch of their BadgePros site at www.badgepros.com to provide technical support and information to their large dealer network; and,
Jim Gingo, TransTech President and Visualant Board Member, continues his active involvement on the Executive Committee of the Security Industry Association. Jim currently serves as its Treasurer.

Defense Stocks Trading for July 6th; KTOS, LMT, RTN, OTCBB: VSUL

The House began debate on July 6th that could potentially increase the defense budget by $17 billion for 2012, but there is a direct message from the President on where he wants defense spending to go.

At a recent town hall meeting, President Obama stated "The nice thing about the defense budget is it's so big, it's so huge, that, you know, a one percent reduction is the equivalent of the education budget."

The company recently delivered the first VNsight production unit for the U.S. Army's Apache Attack Helicopter, which adds a low-light-level display capability to the AH-64D Apache's combat-proven Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor (M-TADS/PNVS), or Arrowhead®, system.
According to the Department of Defense contracts awards for July 6 th, Lockheed Martin, Mission System & Sensors, Owego, N.Y., was awarded a $47,000,000 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract. The award will provide for procurement of autonomous technologies for unmanned aerial systems to maximize performance requirements and capabilities with mature technologies. Work will be performed in Owego, N.Y., with an estimated completion date of June 29, 2016. One bid was solicited, with one bid received. The U.S. Army Contracting Command, Fort Eustis, Va., is the contracting activity (W911W6-11-D-0008).
Raytheon Company (NYSE:RTN ) shares fell 0.01 (-0.02%) to $49.62. This morning, the company announced that the U.S. Army has awarded a $36 million contract for the final phase of the Excalibur Ib development program to Raytheon.
