May is quickly coming to a close.  It’s been an event filled month, but now our attention turns to the summer season.  With all the hot and hazy days coming our way, we’re craving the cool sea breeze and our favorite beach chairs.  Thank goodness we won’t have to wait much longer!

Thanks to a Conde Nast Traveler article, we can officially say: Del-Dio’s serves world famous pizza!

When we heard a customer say that our pizzeria is known for having the best pizza in the world, we were stunned.  Honestly, we thought it was just a really nice compliment.  Then he kindly shared this amazing news with us:

Pizzeria Del-Dio was mentioned in an article titled The 14 Best Pizza Cities in the World.  (Yes, the WORLD!!!)   Conde Nast asked this crucial question in a 2016 Readers’ Choice Awards survey, “Where can you find the best pizza in the world?”  Surveys and votes were tallied, and Orlando was included among the cities listed.  It is nearly impossible to describe our excitement about learning  Pizzeria Del-Dio is featured for serving up great pizza pies!

We never imagined this could happen!

Since opening our Orlando pizzeria 9 years ago, our goal was to be known for the best pizza in Orlando.  Del-Dio’s has received some terrific local press as well as recognition from a few food critics over the years.  We have truly enjoyed every bit of  buzz that has come our way and inched us a bit closer to our goal.  But ultimately, our loyal customers are the reason Chef John tirelessly turns on the ovens every day (…except Sunday’s – they are reserved for golf,  family, and rest – lol).  We love you all dearly and are so appreciative of the support you generously give us.

It’s heartening to know so many friendships have been formed at our front counter and our dining tables.  From the onset, our intention for Del-Dio’s to be as casual and comfortable as the family dinner table, so we’re extremely proud of the neighborhood environment that we’ve created.  The fact that we have created a space where people can engage with each other is really priceless.  We are abundantly blessed to be part of so many lives.  That alone makes working the restaurant-life rewarding.

Experiencing this level of recognition is a rare and wonderful occurrence, and we are incredibly honored.  We look forward to serving our world famous pizza for years to come!  Thank you Condé Nast Traveler readers (& writer Daniel Young) for the nod.  Grazie!

When Pizzeria Del-Dio was listed as Critic’s Choice for Pizza in the 16th annual Foodie Awards we were thrilled!  It was a complete and total surprise, and naturally we relished the recognition.

In January, the results for the 17th annual Foodie Awards were posted.  Again we were thrilled to learn Del-Dio’s was listed as Critics Choice for best Pizza!

The shock has still not worn off (!).   To be recognized for a second straight year is an amazing honor!  Special thanks go out to Heather McPherson, food editor and dining critic at the Orlando Sentinel, for selecting our Orlando pizzeria for consideration.  We couldn’t be more proud of this wonderful award.

We are also extremely proud of our Team for their hard work and dedication – we love you guys for helping make Del-Dio’s the go-to place for the best pizza !

Our tried and true focaccia recipe is quite delicious.  We bake at least a batch per day, often times more on the busy weekends, so the bread is always fresh.

However, lately we’re taking things to a new level!   Here’s a  peak at some recent creations:

Festive and Delicious

A recent customer requested Chef John’s help in creating these Mexican inspired breads.  Referred to as panes de los muertos; this bread is typically decorated with crossed-bones and plays an important role in the celebration of  the colorful  Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos  (All Souls Day).
