Can You Tell She is Overdue? - Perfect Pairings, 1 Cor. 15:58

This is Big Mama Red and she is overdue. While she is a veteran at calving I still worry about her. She is one of our best mamas, well she is the best, otherwise known as the "money maker". We keep her daughters, but her bulls bring top dollar. I just love her for it.

The kids and I went to look for her Saturday and this how we found her. She had separated herself from the others so we thought she would have her baby on Saturday. I saw her yesterday and again this morning and no baby. She is fierce this morning. She was pushing the horses away from the hay. Big Mama Red likes to eat alone.

Since it is a full moon tonight, it is suppose to rain tomorrow and she is in a bad mood I except to see a new baby very soon. Her granddaughter, Bernice was born Dec. 29th so I'm praying for a bull!!!

Goodbye 2011

This year hasn't been that great or really that bad I just want to go ahead and say goodbye to it.

I always look forward to a new year. I don't make resolutions because I don't keep them anyway. However, I do want to get some things done before the new year arrives. I have a lot of things hanging over my head that need my attention.

In addition to taking care of my family I have a lot of art and sewing projects I want to start and most importantly FINISH!

I also want one of these:

It is a Kentucky Mountain Horse. They are supposed to be very gentle and good with kids. In order to have one I need to be debt free and then have money to burn. So, I have a lot of work to get done.

I hope you have a blessed Christmas season and a safe one.

Don't Forget Sensitive Santa This Sunday

Once again The Tulsa Promenade Mall is hosting Sensitive Santa this Sunday morning, December 4, 2011. TheAutism Center of Tulsa will also have arts and crafts for the children.

If you are not familiar with Sensitive Santa it is a way for our children to visit with Santa without all the distractions of the mall customers, noise and loud music.

She has a gift when it comes to horses. I knew it when she was a baby. She knows how important they are to children like her brother and just people in general. She wants to have a horse rescue and riding ranch. I make signs for her all the time and we hang them on her play stable, which she made herself out of an old box. (the boxes from Amazon are the best)

Her favorite show is Heartland which is, of course, about a horse rescue ranch.

God gave me a gift also because I was able to see my child's gift early in her life. I have the privilege of helping her make her dreams come true. Thank heavens for this verse:

OSU Memorial Service

Just in case you haven't heard the OSU memorial service for the victims of last week's plane crash will be today at 1:00 pm in the Gallagher Iba Arena in Stillwater. I heard that Channel 6 and Channel 23 in Tulsa will have it on live tv. I'm sure other stations will also. You can also view the live stream online on Channel 6. Go here for more information.

The holidays can sometimes be a difficult time for people then to add the loss of a friend or family member can put someone over the edge. Please keep our OSU friends in your prayers this week.

P.S. I never attended OSU but I have friends who did and it holds a special place in my heart. My grandfather's first cousin, Vernon Friels, played for Henry Iba. Maybe one day my children will attend Oklahoma State.

Real Housewives of Oklahoma on KTUL

Today we will be on a grocery store adventure. We are going to a relatively small grocery store today. No more Wal-Mart and Homeland, just too big for my little guy. He is so excited about Thanksgiving dinner. He has been going through the store ads with me picking out everything he wants to eat.

Also, I will be busy sewing this weekend so no computer for the rest of the weekend, well I'll try to stay off of it. I got pay for hay for my horses.

They are worth it.

Yes Sweetie Ed Asner Is The Real Santa Claus

Will Ferrell in Elf

Tis the season for funny Christmas movies. One of our all time favorites is Elf. I was flipping through the channels Sunday night and it was on, but it was the end of the movie. I started to change the channel because who wants to see just the last 10 minutes, well Rooster did. He jumped up and started singing "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" even before Zooey Deschanel begins to sing. She is another reason my son likes the movie.

Thankfully the movie was a back to back so after Zooey finished singing we got to watch the movie from beginning to end, the uncut version, oohhh, aaaahhhhh!

Anyway, I have one kid that believes in Santa,

and one that doesn't.

So everytime Santa Claus shows up on screen Redbird quickly says, "that's not Santa Claus, there is no such thing as Santa Claus". I give her the look then look at Rooster, hoping she will just go along.

Finally he gets enough and ask me quietly, "is that the real Santa Claus"?

which I respond, "yes sweetie that is the real Santa Claus":

Under my breath I say, Yes, sweetie, Ed Asner is the real Santa Claus.

Fall Break - Check Me Out On Twitter and Facebook

I love the fall and the month of October so I'm going to take a break from this blog and enjoy this time with my family. October is one of the milder months in our Oklahoma weather pattern so we have to take advantage of it. However, we have had snowstorms and tornadoes during October, but I think this year we are safe. At least I think we are.

We will be learning, crafting, sewing, and painting. Oh, and cutting wood or stacking wood, Daddy will do the tough stuff.

I also need to get my home ready for winter basically living and breathing Proverbs 31.

I will still be posting on my sewing site (it needs some attention)

One Reason Why I Blog

I wonder why I even blog. I don't have time, I'm sooooo slow getting my thoughts together to even type something, but then I have "met" so many wonderful people. Even though I may not talk to an adult all day I can type with an adult. It helps let me tell you. I have a few things to tell you that some of my blog friends have done for me lately. I will share one with you today.

Lisa at My Version Of My Life is a devoted mother, caregiver and outstanding photographer. Her sweet daughter saw a dress I made on my sewing site, New Territory Co. and wanted one. So we worked together via email and came up with a dress.

Lisa posted a photo of her daughter wearing my dress on her blog and it melted my heart.

I have my good days and my bad days, but I have bloggy buddies that help me get through it. God provides for us even via a bloggy buddy.

Lisa has her hands full. I really don't know how she does it. I'm on full alert with my son when he is awake. I can at least rest when he is asleep, which I let him sleep in today just for the peace and quiet. Lisa, however, has to be on full alert 24 hours a day. I pray for her and her family every day, because she is my friend and that is what you do for friends, even if you will never meet them face to face.

Thank you Lisa for having such a beautiful daugther to make my dress look so good and for using your gift of photography.

Happy Johnny Appleseed Day & Perfect Pairings

John Chapman aka Johnny Appleseed was born Sept. 26, 1774. He introduced apple trees to Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. He was a legend in his own time. He was also a missionary. I didn't know that. While spreading apple seeds everyone he also spread the word about The New Church.

There is a Johnny Appleseed Festival in Fort Wayne, Indiana where he died and is buried at the Johnny Appleseed Park. You can go here to view his memorial on findagrave.com.

Anyway, for today we will be counting apples, painting apple gourds (photos soon), eating apples and spelling a-p-p-l-e. I packed apple slices in my husband's lunch and I will have some kind of apple desert for him tonight. I'm not sure if I will make apple crisp, apple butter cake or both.

Also, I didn't know that it is Nat'l Pancake Day which is what we had for breakfast. Apparently there are two Nat'l Pancake Days depending on which restaurant is having the promotion. Who cares who is right just enjoy!!!

I Used To Be Young and Pretty Too

As you know I love my home, my family, my Lord.

I love Oklahoma.

I love my hometown.

Recently an article came out in an Oklahoma indie newspaper about one of our local artists. I was so excited because the artist, Olinka Hrdy, deserves to be recognized. The article was somewhat informative, but it was not favorable to my hometown. I don't understand why the author's distaste for the town needed to be including in her article.

Then, I saw her photo on Facebook. So funny as soon as I saw what she looked like I immediately thought I used to be young and pretty too. I used to think my job was important. I was working my way up that corporate ladder looking good at it too. Then one day I became a mom and then an autism mom, then a warrior mama!!

It just took those simple words, "we have a problem" to turn my world upside down. Suddenly nothing matter, I didn't care if I did a good job at work, I didn't care what my bosses thought of my performance I just wanted to get home to my baby. The corporate ladder fell out from under me.

I used to think it was important to impress my employers. Now it is only important that I keep my son from falling in a hole or running in front of a car. Sometimes that is the only thing I accomplish in a day.

Anyway, I was going to follow up on my Oklahome blog but I may not because while I may be impulsive God is not. When we react on impulse it is only because we are human, but we must be careful, stop, pray, and listen. However, I am human and so I did react with a comment on the website and on Facebook. No one responded! I guess my opinion means nothing, but when I was young and pretty people listened. At least my ego thought they did.

Perfect Pairings - How Much Do You Love?

Last week was Rooster's birthday. It is a beautiful day, but sadly I relive this day every year wondering what happened on that day. What really happened? After a lot research and a lawsuit it is still inconclusive. I keep thinking this wasn't supposed to happen then my guard is down and before I know the spirit of defeat has entered my life, yet again.

I think about my relationships past and present and wonder why is it that I can love someone more than they love me. Is it true or does it just feel that way?

Then it hits me like a ton of bricks, "now you know how I feel."

What?

"NOW, you know how I feel."

Oh, I'm sorry I didn't realize it sooner. I wanted to do a post for Perfect Pairings so I started to google "scriptures about God's love for us". Before I even hit the enter button it hit me again.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 3:16 (KJV)

It does not get any clearer than that. He gave us his Son. The ultimate sacrifice. The greatest proof of love.

If you feel like you give and give and give and no one loves you then good for you. You now know what God feels every moment of the day. Believe me he can fill you with more love than you have ever known. You will be able to give, give and give. You will be able to love, love and love. It is wonderful to feel appreciated by your family but it is not necessary when you know you are loved by God. You can tell God that you love him and he will let you know He loves you.

I can't look back and wonder. I have to look to the future and know that God's love will get us through anything. We will make it.

It's all about love.

A Rooster In Rooster's Room

I couldn't believe it when I heard the words, "there's a rooster in my room."

Oh myyyyy!!!!

One of the hazards of having free range chickens is that they can get in the house.

I see the big rooster, Ernie next to the little grizzly bear statue.

I start thinking what am I going to do. No I didn't. My first thought was, "where's my camera?"

Although he is perched nicely on the Pistol Pete book and an old dictionary it is total chaos. My son is going nuts and I'm trying to keep the kids out in case this rooster decides to flog us, no fun let me tell ya. I grab a towel to try and catch him in the towel. He moves a little bit and I quickly change my mind.

His feathers are really ruffled now.

I decided to get some feed and place it on the floor of the room. I then open the front door and put feed just outside the door to attract the hens. After several crows from rooster he heads outside to his hens, victory!

Ironically I made fried chicken last night. When I know I'm going to make fried chicken I only buy the legs because that is all my kids eat anyway. I tell Redbird to tell her daddy we were having Ernie for supper which he responds with, "did Ernie have 10 legs?" Daddy is sooooo funny.

As I'm writing this post we hear a chicken scawling. Redbird yells, "chicken alert" and she quickly opens the front door. Guess what happens? You guessed it, Ernie is back in the house. Currently he is hiding in the laundry room. This is yet another hazard of having free range chickens and three farm, no manners at all, dogs.

Oh, when my Rooster saw Ernie in the house again he said, "I thought we ate him last night."

Gotta love the country living!

Flying Bear - Skywatch Friday

I wish I were a flying bear.

I'd fly around and find children playing on the ground.

I'd wave to them and they would wave to me.

I would hang around until all the children of all ages saw me.

They would cheer for me.

Then I would continue to fly . . .

and find more children.

I would get see children smiling from place to place.

If I were a flying bear I would make people happy.
