You might be wondering why no new designs, even though we're on the other side now. In mid-September I started getting some new designs together, but the only designs I was inspired to make had to do with the Occupy Wall Street Movement, and I don't feel right trying to make a buck off of it, so until further notice the shop is closed for new designs.

All existing designs are still on sale at the usual places, but until this 99% business gets sorted out, no new designs will be posted for sale.

For the record, I fully support the Occupy Movement, and wish the participants of today's General Strike in Oakland a safe day, with no shenanigans to ruin it. Vive La Revolution!

Have You Seen This Designer?

Well, it's been just over 2 months now, and not one new design. You may be wondering what happened? Why isn't Deleriyes putting anything new out? You may not remember who the hell Deleriyes is, and just don't give a shit.

Here's the deal. Deleriyes Designs is moving shop. We're based in Nova Scotia, Canada right now, but in one month's time we'll be moving the entire operation to Vancouver, BC, Canada. We probably won't have any new designs up until late August. Once we start things up again, we'll be making up for lost time by putting out one design for every missing week in our 52 Weeks series.

I know, I know..... You're sick to death of seeing Charlie Sheen everywhere you go. And frankly, I'm sick to death of hearing about the smart bastard myself.

What's that? Why would I call him smart, you ask? Well, after his infamous "meltdown", I tried (like so many other wannabe t-shirt gurus) to sell a bunch of shirts with phrases like "Tiger Blood", "Duh, Winning!", and "High Priest Vatican Warlock Assassin" plastered all over them, but Charlie Sheen was one step ahead of all of us.

The sonofabitch must have walked straight from his insanely half-coherent ranting interviews to the U.S. Trademark Office, because suddenly I was getting emails from CafePress, Zazzle and Wordans telling me that Charlie's legal team had contacted them and that I wasn't allowed to put the words Tiger and Blood together on a shirt unless Charlie said I could...... and people still think that Charlie wasn't faking the whole "Meltdown" thing? Come on!

You can be a Nguyenner too!

Duh, Nguyenning!

Charlie Sheen may be the only guy in the world now who's allowed to call himself an "Unemployed Winner", but I can tell you there's a hell of a lot more "Unemployed Nguyenners" out there. There's about 40 million people in the world with the last name Nguyen (pronounced 'win'), and it made me think:

Instead of trying to ride the crowded Charlie Sheen bandwagon, trying to avoid the swooping lawyer-dactyls, and repeating the same old tired lines the whole world is already sick to death of hearing, why not show some love to my Korean friends and make us all Nguyenners? Okay, so it took a couple extra days to put together this week's design, but really it doesn't matter when I post updates on here, it doesn't even matter what the hell I say on here, nobody reads this shit anyway.

Okay then, so..... on to this week's design. People seem to like my Star Trek stuff, so I said what the hell, I'll take another crack at it, see what my rusty old brain can conjure up....

Week 11: Great Tohoku Kanto

The Great Tohoku Kanto Earthquake

For the second time this year, a major world event has inspired me to create meaningful designs, instead of my usual attempts at humor based on the most relevant pop culture train wreck of the week [*cough* Charlie Sheen *cough*].

In case you live under a rock, then you haven't heard about this devastating event. The Great Tohoku Kanto Earthquake was a 9.0 quake that struck off the Eastern shore of Japan on the 11th of March 2011, and caused a massive tsunami that not only wiped entire towns off the map, but also seriously damaged all of the reactors at one of the largest nuclear plants in the world, causing a partial meltdown (which is still ongoing as I write this).

The design itself contains a few different elements:

Obviously, the central part of the image is the Rising Sun, from the Japanese Flag.
Mt. Fuji can be seen in the background, as it is close to the damaged region of the country, and many people are worried about a possible eruption after last week's quake.
The Biohazard symbol represents the horrific scene unfolding right now at Fukushima, which is getting worse by the hour. Hopefully a catastrophe can be averted.

The large crack you can see across the design was actually taken from a picture that most people are familiar with now, if they have been following this disaster in the news or online. You can see that picture here.

I've done a little research on different charities and relief organizations, and I've decided that I would like to offer Japan help through Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). 50% of all profits generated through the sale of this design will be donated to MSF. If you would like to make a donation to MSF directly without buying one of my designs, you can do that here.

After watching the 20/20 interview with good ol' Charlie Sheen this week, I was so inspired that I just couldn't wait until Friday to make this week's design. In fact, I went a little overboard and made tons of 'em.

Seriously, the guy is an inspiration to milions of guys around the world who now live vicariously through him - winning would be an understatement. He was getting Two Million Dollars per episode to basically act like himself on the highest rated sitcom on TV, spending all his free time having sex with countless hookers & porn stars, and bangin' enough seven-gram rocks to make Mick Jagger and Keith Richards look like a droopy eyed armless children. I mean, what's not to love?

Charlie, keep on doin' what you're doin', and if you remember nothing else, remember something you told ABC during that awesome interview: "Dying's for fools".

It's the logo for the Irish Pub in my head, The Rusty Shamrock, where they've been "Drinkin' & Fightin' since 1987". I imagine Peter & the gang from Family Guy sitting in one of the booths, Peter singing drunken Irish jigs with his drunken Irish dad.

I got the idea for the "Drinkin' & Fightin'" tagline from an old episode of Saturday Night Live, where they had a fake commercial for an Irish Drinking Songs album, and one of the songs was called "Drinkin'& Fightin'". Easiest lyrics in the world for drunken Irishmen (or women) to belt out in a stupor:
"We're gonna drink & drink & drink & drink & drink & drink & drink,
Then we'll fight & fight & fight & fight & fight & fight & fight!"

This is the 6th in our '52 Weeks' series. I usually create funny and light-hearted designs, however the events unfolding in Egypt over the past 18 days have deeply affected me and inspired me to create more meaningful designs.

11/02/2011 is a day that will be remembered hopefully for centuries, as the day peace overcame tyranny. In celebration of this momentous occasion, I've created this new design, and as I offered for last week's design, I will donate $1 (CAD) from each product sold to a charity aiding the families of those who were killed during the Revolution.

As you know, I usually create funny and light-hearted designs, however the events unfolding in Egypt over the past 10 days have deeply affected me and inspired me to add my voice to the message that the Egyptian people have been sending out to the people of the world.

What is happening in Egypt is a revolution by the people that would not have been possible without social networking services like Twitter and Facebook, and they have been sending the message that what the world needs now is Freedom. Vive la revolution!

So I was sitting here playing around with some design ideas a few months ago, right before the new Star Trek movie came out, and I kept remembering how Bones would always yell out "Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor, not a (insert random noun here)!"

I thought that was a cool idea for a shirt, but then I thought: "What if someone wants a mousepad, or a coffee mug, or a dog sweater?" Then it dawned on me, just make a different design for each product. I always run my crazy ideas by my wife, and she loved it, so away I went!
