So that's super easy, and you should probably go do it.

Spiders Everywhere.

2013-09-13T00:23:00.001-06:00

I don't know about you, but when I come up with a theme I like, I run with. Till it's dead. Everything has to match or coordinate in a certain way. My mother thinks I'm crazy, but I have been this way as long as I can remember.

Anyway I'm getting off track.

This year I FINALLY made Halloween stands for my shop, and even branched out from cake stands into other housewares. The theme was spiders and their webs. I really loved how everything turned out and right now I'm in the process of getting everything up in my shop.

Here are a few sneak peaks at what will be making an appearance over the next couple days.

Halloween needs to get here now!

Last Saturday Night.

2012-12-06T01:10:00.000-07:00

Because a nice picture of us is too much to ask.

Right before this picture was taken my camera died, so phone picture it is. Even though 9 out of 10 pictures of us turn out I like this, I love them because it really captures our coupleness.

Husband's comments about this picture, "photogenic like a boss" and " I love me."

Fortress of Darkness, Man Cave, Whatev.

2012-12-04T18:13:00.000-07:00

When looking for our home Husband had basically one requirement, there had to be a large basement that he could turn into the Man Cave. Oh and he gets to paint the walls black so that he can basically live in a cave. His window covering idea? Duct taping cardboard over all of the windows, because that's classy. I was able to convince him we can get blackout curtains so that he can go about his vampire ways.

Over the past couple weeks I have been working on his tv stand. When we moved a friend of my MIL gave us an old dresser, Husband hated it and stomped his feet the whole way to get it, but I loved it. Here is the before and after and I am so happy with how it turned out.

Yup, phone pictures because I was too lazy to go upstairs and get the camera. Once the basement is done I'm going to take nice pictures..maybe.

Oh My Glob.

Adventure time anyone? No, ok, Misso is the only one who can appreciate this title, or those of you who watch children's cartoons.

WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!!!!!!

I am so excited!!!!!!!!

It's everything I could ever want in my home, plus more.

I intend to die in this house. Fact.

This is a before and current. We still have quite a few projects to finish on the front, but that will most likely have to wait until the spring.

Fix corner of porch

Frame out columns in wood

Add new vinyl railing

Replace front door

Window box under front window

Paint rocking chairs

Add new porch lights

Landscaping

The inside was completely remodeled, but it's not my taste so that is a long list of projects for another day.

So excited!!!

Parenting Magazine.

2012-04-20T10:55:00.001-06:00

I found out the other day I was featured in the May issue of Parenting Magazine!

This was quite the surprise when I found out that I had to call my dad to troll the airport shops to find the correct issue (the airports get magazine's before everyone else). He found it and then immediately sent me pictures. So exciting!!

Thank you.

2012-04-19T15:38:00.000-06:00

I just want to say thank you so much to everyone that has supported my little shop over the last couple days. It means the world to me. So many amazing things have happened the past couple of days that its time to think about what my next move is for my shop. Crazy. It's so easy to get stressed out with all the work and time put into this little project, but when I slow down and look at what I've accomplished, I am amazed. I'm finally doing it, my dream of having my own business is becoming a reality.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

.Danielle.

Weekend Fun Times.

2012-04-16T12:11:00.000-06:00

This weekend included:

Kitchen painting.

Shelf painting.

Hook hanging.

Baseboard replacing.

Board games and drinks with friends.

Lessons learned that tequila and I are not friends.
Sisters were here and once again no pictures taken.

I see the light at the end of the kitchen tunnel (thank goodness) and maybe can have it all done by the end of next weekend.

Hello blue wall

What started out as cleaning the baseboard soon turned into replacing the baseboard

I can't wait for my kitchen to be back in some kind of order

Thumb war

He is clearly happy about his picture being taken

Candice in her party hat

I drew a card and had to have the top of the game box under my shirt the ENTIRE game. So uncomfortable.

I have no idea.

Easter.

2012-04-10T16:51:00.002-06:00

Did you have a nice Easter?

It didn't even feel like Easter to me.

Went to church in the morning, and met our new pastor and his family, still haven't made up my mind about that situation yet. Out to lunch with the usually group. Then home to work on house projects.

We didn't eat Easter dinner until about 9 that night, when Husby's parents got home. By the time we were done eating I took one look at the kitchen and decided it was time for bed.

The highlight of my day was talking to Jamie Jo and planning her arranged marriage. Yes, that's right she may be in Croatia right now but I'm lining up a husband for her when she gets back. During worship at the second service I might have been walking through the crowd with Jamie on FaceTime, trying to find get a picture of future husband. I know I'm kind of a creep.

House projects are finally getting done, almost all of my dining room furniture has it's first coat of primer and the kitchen in nearing completion. My goal is to have the inside done before the end of May. Totally doable. I've also learned that I need structure in my life, I'm much more productive when I don't have time to watch Dateline 6 hours a day. Currently planning a wedding (not mine), planning a baby girl's first birthday, working full time, keeping my shop going and getting our house done. Some people think I'm crazy but I LOVE it.

Ham : Garlic Green Beans : Cheesy Potatoes : Sugar Free Strawberry Shortcake Trifles

Right before Fuentes got in big trouble for putting his face on the table.

This is the chair project, and it's finally happening. I've only had them for a year now.

And a little side note. Apparently my cake stands were featured in the May issue of Parenting Magazine. Now to troll the grocery stores to find a copy.

Under the sink.

2012-03-16T15:00:00.000-06:00

As I was typing the title I started singing the Little Mermaid song Under the Sea.

This was a quick little project that I did a couple weeks ago and it is FAN-TASTIC!

The total cost was about $8.00 and it took me maybe 45 minutes to finish.

Here's what you will need:

Vinyl Tiles - I got mine at Home Depot for about $1.08 each

Knife
Straight Edge

Measuring Tape

Pen

1. Start with the center tile and measure where it will need to go. If you have to make a cut, like I did, measure for that and cut it.

2. Before you stick any of them down or take off the paper backing notice which way the arrows are pointing. It is important that all the tiles are installed the same way.

3. Take the paper backing off and stick it down.

4. Repeat for the remaining area.

BAM! You're done! How easy was that?! Now you have an easy to clean, and much nicer to look at under the sink area. Plus the edges won't peel and get all icky.

Bee.

2012-03-15T12:40:00.001-06:00

I have a thing for bees.

Not for realies bees, don't like those, but pretty much everything else. I mean Misso and I named our short lived craft fair the Beehive Craftival.

Misso found this gem on West Elm a couple weeks ago and about 30 seconds after she sent me the link, it was mine. It now is sitting on my counter waiting for a beehive cake.
*found here*

Don't really care that I'm 26 I'm totally going to order this.

*found here*

I already have a cookie jar that will match these!

*found here & here*

This is a custom stand that I think I'm going to start selling in my shop.

You know what isn't fun?

Eating yogurt with a fork because somehow you forgot to bring a spoon with you to work.

Wreath

2012-03-13T15:01:00.000-06:00

I love wreaths!

The front of our house is pretty dull and a wreath is the perfect way to add color.

Here are a couple from Williams-Sanoma that I'm in love with, but refuse to pay $100 for.

With that being said I am determined to make my own. I think it will be easy to track down inexpensive dried greens but the roses are another story. Maybe I can find some decent looking fake ones.

Weekend Projects.

2012-03-02T12:10:00.000-07:00

Now let me be clear when I say weekend projects I mean thinking about getting it done every weekend for 6 months projects.

I get these big ideas for projects, go out and buy everything and then move on to my next great idea. As I've mentioned before this is something that needs stop so it's time to get this done.

My goals for this weekend are 1) sand/prime dining table and chairs, 2) sand hutch and finish revamping doors and drawers.

I bought said hutch last August and it has been sitting in my basement ever since.

And here is Madam Hutch's friend Dining table. We have a breakfast bar in our kitchen so who needs table? Clearly not us.

Here was the first step in getting the hutch ready for painting. I really didn't like the current details of the doors or drawers so I decided to revamp the. Here is a quick tutorial on how I did that.

This is what they looked like before. ick.

I much as I love this 1960's -ish flower, it had to go

1. Measure the space you want to cover and cut out those pieces. I used a table saw but a handsaw of some kind with a straight edge will do just fine too.

2. Before you glue them in place make sure that they fit how you want.

3. Glue them done and nail them into place. I used my brad nailer for this but a hammer and nail will work just as well.

4. If you are doing the drawers repeat the same steps. To get the shapes for this section I used the table saw to get the basic rectangle and then used my jigsaw to make the slight curves on the end. To be honest I was really intimidated by this part because I thought it was going to be rather hard to match up the shape, but guess what?! It was so easy! All I did was take a piece of paper, lay it over the top and then use pencil to make the outline. Once you have the outline trace it on the pieces of wood that you have already cut and BAM you have your shape.

5. Next step is to caulk around the edges of the new pieces to give it that seamless look. Once you are done place them somewhere warm to dry because if it's too cold the caulking will crack as it dries. I learned this the hard way and had to redo them all.

Once that is all done you can attach new appliques, stencil it or pretty much do whatever. Total this project took me about an hour to do 2 doors and 3 drawers. Later I will post pictures of what the doors and drawers look like with their new appliques and maybe next week I will have pictures of it all primed and ready to go! A girl can dream.

New View.

2012-02-29T16:12:00.000-07:00

This is my new view.

Monday through Friday 9:30-5:30.

It's been 3 weeks, and so far I really do like my new job. But there are still days I just don't want to get out of bed and I just have to remind myself that job means house then babies.

I also cut 9-ish inches off my hair last week. Still adjusting to that. One perk is not spending 20 blow drying my hair, which in my book is FANTASTIC.

1. Super awesome notebook from Michael's (I bought like 10)

2. New backyard plan

3. Robot cupcake tree for littlest Nephew's birthday next week.

Yup, that's work.

The Party Press

2012-02-28T09:51:00.005-07:00

Hello and good morning!

Today I have been featured by the lovely Meredith on The Party Press.

Go check it out, there are all sorts of cute ideas.

I love her idea for St. Patrick's day, so cute!

Images via here.

I miss her.

2012-02-17T11:50:00.000-07:00

Dear James-

Please come home.

I know you are doing super, awesome, amazing, important things but I'm selfish and want you home. I don't have anyone to watch Super Troopers with and Husby doesn't appreciate Cafe Rio like you and I.

Today I was looking through old pictures of us and found some from your 21st birthday party. We need to have a dress up party again, or a white trash bash, because lets be honest that was pretty much awesome.

I can't wait for you to be back in Utah all the time.

Love you.

Sweet Treats.

2012-02-13T22:14:00.000-07:00

A couple weeks ago I sent off quite a few cupcake trees for a charity event in Florida.

The lovely lady who I sent them to was kind enough to send me some pictures.

On another subject, someone put on her big girl pants and got a job. I am now a contributing member of society and my countdown to house buying has begun. T minus 729 days and counting.

New Designs.

2012-02-10T08:27:00.002-07:00

Here is a glimpse of some new stands that will be popping up in my shop over the next few weeks.

Now to get oldest younger twin brother to write my descriptions.

Date Night.

2012-02-09T10:01:00.000-07:00

On Tuesday night Husby and I went to a concert. The first one we have been to (together) in about 2 years.

We felt like the oldest people there. We were surrounded by high-school students and all I could think was that I don't want teenagers. I want future children to stay little forever.

I felt so out of place because we weren't dressed in the apparent theme of the night...which was black. I guess hardcore = black and not red and white polka dots. Husband and I love Christian hardcore music and my most favorite band ever was playing that night. There were 4 other bands playing, none of which we had ever heard of, but apparently quite popular with kids because the show sold out. Yep teenagers are now kids to me.

It was pretty much the perfect concert because we got there right before the Oh, Sleeper went on, left right after and I was in bed at 10...win. Also win for being over 21, so I can watch a concert without being shoved and trampled, plus the bar was upstairs and had the perfect view.

Pretty Towels.

2012-02-08T10:55:00.000-07:00

Flour sack towels are my favorite towel to have around the kitchen. They absorb so much moisture, plus I can tie them around my waist.

I haven't ever been able to find pretty towels that I am willing to pay for so I decided to make my own. This project was super easy and fairly cheap.

Supplies:

plain flour sack towels (Walmart has them for 5/$5)

acrylic paint

sponge

stencil

1. Lay out your towel. I bought a tri-fold and then used thumbtacks to secure the towel so it didn't move around while stenciling.

2. Stencil

3. Let it dry for a few days and then wash. I had to wash mine a couple times with fabric softener because I put quite a bit of paint on.

Yay for pretty new towels! It was so easy and quick that I'm going to make more once I get a chance.

Hello.

2012-02-07T15:48:00.000-07:00

My name is Danielle and I have a problem, I collect outrageous amounts of dishes. Tea cups, plates, platters, tea pots, pitchers, glasses, you name it and I probably have 5....or 16.

Any extra space in my kitchen is occupied by some type of dish, it's getting a little out of control.

I have these dreams of big dinner parties and summer bbq's and therefore I need 16 of everything. 16 salad plates, 16 glasses, 16 bowls, 16 plates and some of these I have a set of 16 for every month.

Are you sensing a theme yet?

16 is the magic number in my brain (I have no idea where this came from) and if I lose one piece I will give the entire set away.

In future house I will have an entire area of the basement dedicated to my dish collection. It's going to be the beautiful.

This is only a small part of my collection. I am currently working on getting it all organized, which means the shuffling of all storage. Yeah it's going to take awhile.

Stepford.

2012-02-06T16:35:00.000-07:00

Is it strange that I kind of want to live in Stepford, minus the whole creepy robot thing. To say that I love that movie would be an understatement, it's my most favorite of all time. The colors, the dresses, the houses, the tea parties, oh and the 4th of July festival. That movie just makes my heart smile and for some reason makes me all kinds of motivated to get my house in order and crafty projects done.

On our long drive home from Washington I told Husby that if I had lots of money I would have my own town, and it would be like Stepford. That's about the time he told me that I couldn't pay him to live there. He doesn't even know what he'd be missing, because it would be amazing!

When I have waaaay to much time on my hands these are the kinds of things I think about.

Project Queen.

2012-01-27T16:33:00.000-07:00

At any given time I have more half-way done projects than I care to admit. One of my 157894 new goals for myself is to finish a project before I start another. Since we came home from my parents I have successfully been able to check off 3 things!!! That deserves 3 !!! because that is a big deal in my world. Over the next couple weeks I will share the tutorials on how I made each super easy and inexpensive project.

Also I'm thinking about cutting my hair off. I've been going back and forth for a while now and can't seem to commit either way.

It's still January.

2012-01-23T20:26:00.000-07:00

So who's still going to talk about New Year's, that's right, this girl.

Husby and I are finally done celebrating all the holidays with both sides of our families. His family is in Utah and mine is in Washington so it can make for a hectic holiday season. We got home from visiting my parents a week ago and I'm having such a hard time getting back into the swing of things. Eight days with absolutely nothing to do really messes with a girl's schedule.

During my eight days of doing nothing plus a couple REALLY long (read 14+ hour) car rides I had some time think. As much as I don't like New's Year's resolutions I can't help but love the feeling of a new year, a new beginning, a new me. I have all these goals for my life before children and if I want them to happen I need to start now. Here are just a few of what seems like 10 pages I have written down:

1. Become more healthy. To become a more healthy person I need to eat better and exercise more. I think this in on a lot of people's list but I really want to be a healthy mom so I need to get this love of potatoes under control.

2. My shop. I am the only thing standing in the way of this dream of mine and I need to figure out how to get motivated.

3. Make our little house a home, and do it before summer rolls around. Husby and I will only be here for two more years but I still want to love where I live and make it mine. I'm a nester, always have been and always will be.

4. Plant a garden and stick with it. I don't know how many times I have started gardens and then became bored with them and let everything die.

5. Finish the 1,358 projects I have started BEFORE I start anymore. This one is for me and Husby. He gets really frustrated because I always have crafts all over the place.

So there are 5 of the countless goals I have set for myself this year. Maybe in the next couple weeks I will write them all down so I can keep track of them. One more thing added to the project list.

The below video is has absolutely nothing to do with this post but every time I watch it I can't help but laugh.
