Here are my Top 3 Reasons to Upgrade to Delphi XE4 or RAD Studio XE4

All new iOS development solution. If you used the iOS features in XE2, you'll be amazed by this completely redesigned and rearchitected iOS development solution in Delphi XE4. This is the fastest way for Delphi developers to create iOS apps. Available in Delphi Pro with Mobile add-on, RAD Studio Pro, and higher editions of Delphi and RAD Studio.

Multi-Device development for iOS, Windows and Mac OS X - with Delphi XE4 and FireMonkey, you can leverage one codebase to target PCs, tablets and smartphones. This can be a great time saver.

FireDAC data access - Delphi's new database connectivity library and components are easier to use and connect with more data sources than ever before. FireDAC is included in Enterprise edition and above or available as an add-on for Professional edition.

Spikes Selects Application Development Tools from Embarcadero Technologies to Build “The Only Secure Browser”

Delphi XE4 Enables Spikes to Deliver a Unified Native User Experience Across Multiple Devices and Platforms from a Single Codebase

SAN FRANCISCO — April 30, 2013 — Embarcadero Technologies, a leading provider of software solutions for application and database development, today announced that web security provider Spikes, has selected its technology for developing the world's only secure browser. Using Embarcadero Delphi® XE4, Spikes is building a virtual browser that can be run on any device, all from a single source codebase.

Browser exploits are the number one cause of malware infections and to combat this problem, Spikes has built an alternative that runs on remote systems, so that when malware strikes, the endpoint remains untouched. The Spikes Browser™ can operate on any computer or mobile device, protecting against threats – even the unknown and undetected.

"Our customers are inherently going to be running in multi-device environments, which means that our browser needs to operate seamlessly on iOS, Windows and Mac," said Branden Spikes, founder, chief executive officer and chief technology officer of Spikes. "While we could have used a Java tool, it would have created a complex updating process and hindered the end user experience, not to mention the fact that Java itself is insecure. We selected Embarcadero's Delphi XE4 because it delivers the performance of a native solution all from one codebase."

Included in RAD Studio XE4, Embarcadero Delphi XE4 offers a way to build native apps for PCs, tablets, and smartphones, all with one codebase.

Embarcadero Technologies Unveils Multi-Device, True Native App Development Suite

RAD Studio XE4 Empowers Developers to Create Incredible Apps for PCs, Tablets and Smartphones

SAN FRANCISCO – April 22, 2013 – Embarcadero Technologies, a leading provider of software solutions for application and database development, today announced the availability of RAD Studio XE4, the app development suite for Developers who need to create true native apps for PCs, tablets, and smartphones and get them to market fast. Built for Developers by Developers, RAD Studio XE4 lets users manage one codebase, one team, and one schedule without sacrificing performance.

True native apps run directly on the device hardware with no scripting or interpretive layer. They give developers more control, tighter security and a better user experience. Many multi-device solutions today rely on virtual implementations or are interpreted at run time and are not true native apps.

"This year nearly a billion smartphones will be shipped, and for the first time tablets are also projected to outsell PCs," said Michael Swindell, Embarcadero senior vice president of products. "At the same time, ISVs and Enterprises are under tremendous pressure to quickly deliver a great user experience across multiple device platforms. Unlike HTML5 and JavaScript-based mobile development solutions, RAD Studio XE4 enables organizations to deliver script-free, true native apps across smartphones, tablets, PCs, and Macs with a single codebase."

"This is an exciting announcement," said Gary Barnett, principal analyst at Ovum. "Embarcadero has drawn on a long and impressive history of delivering solid development tools. Developers can create multichannel apps that are truly native for each platform, and do it using one code base in a single development environment."

RAD Studio XE4 delivers multi-device development for ARM and Intel devices, including Apple iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, Mac OS X, Windows PCs, Slates, and Surface Pro tablets. Benefits include:

Multi-Device App Development
With RAD Studio XE4, developers can now create apps that are compiled and optimized for multiple device platforms. Complexity is reduced with one set of development resources to create apps for multiple platforms — one codebase, one team, and one schedule.

Build True Native Apps
True native app development offers the best performance and tightest security without scripting engines or virtual machines, allowing developers to take advantage of the full range of capabilities available on each device to deliver the best user experience.

On Device Rapid Prototyping
Developers or designers can quickly create no-code, visual mockups with live or simulated data and deploy to actual target devices (PC, phone, tablet) or simulate on Windows or Mac, giving clients and team members a far more accurate and impressive prototype experience.

Key features of RAD Studio XE4 include:

Full application framework for iOS, Windows, and Mac OS X, with support for Android coming soon.

Full visual designer for iOS, Mac, and Windows user interfaces with multiple device types, resolutions, and orientations.

iOS native styled user interface controls and native services such as motion and camera sensors and Geo location, sharesheet, and notification services.

Local database support for SQLite, IBLite, and InterBase Embedded ToGo.

Built-in Multi-tier Enterprise connectivity for Oracle, Sybase, IBM DB2, InterBase, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, SOAP and REST services and more.

What customers are saying
"In these multi-OS times, software developers have been eagerly waiting for stable source code reuse from an IDE. Embarcadero has the strategic base technology for future mobile, including Android later this year. RAD Studio XE4 marks the birth of the first REAL native multi-platform IDE." --Simon Choi, president and chief developer, MaxPaper

"iOS support in RAD Studio XE4 is amazing, and the amount of code reuse is very high. I've personally migrated a 600,000+ lines of code Excel reader/writer/viewer from Windows and it is working great. I am really impressed and excited by this release." --Adrian Gallero, product manager, tms software
Embarcadero Launches FireDAC: Enterprise Data Access for Multiple Devices

New Product Delivers High Performance Enterprise Database Connectivity to Developers

SAN FRANCISCO – Feb. 28, 2013 – Embarcadero Technologies, a leading provider of software solutions for application and database development, today announced the availability of FireDAC, an Enterprise-class data access development library for multiple devices including Windows, Mac, and Mobile. FireDAC works seamlessly with Embarcadero’s Delphi, C++Builder, and RAD Studio multi-device development solutions. The release of FireDAC follows Embarcadero’s recent acquisition of DASoft’s AnyDAC data access technology.

“Enterprises have already been challenged with supporting a wide variety of database platforms in their applications, but that challenge is now multiplied by the growing diversity of desktop and mobile client devices they must support.” said Michael Swindell, Embarcadero senior vice president of products. “FireDAC makes it easy for developers to integrate high performance Enterprise database access into their applications across a range of platforms and devices, all from single code base.”

FireDAC offers developers support for the largest array of database platforms including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, SAP, DataSnap, Sybase SQL Anywhere, InterBase, Advantage Database, PostgreSQL, SQLite, MySQL, Firebird, and Microsoft Access.

FireDAC will be included in the Enterprise and higher editions of Embarcadero’s Multi-Device developer tools products and will also be available stand alone. FireDAC also works seamlessly with DataSnap REST servers providing the ability to create ultra thin desktop and mobile client apps using centralized REST-based web, cloud, and database services.

Delphi and C++Builder Enterprise-level data connectivity is enhanced with FireDAC by offering the fastest access performance available, a wider database platform selection, greater ease of use and simplicity, a universal data access API, with database vendor server-specific features. FireDAC supports multiple client devices including Windows and Mac desktop clients and iOS and Android in 2013.

Satisfied Users Worldwide Speak Out

“We decided to switch all our strategic products from ADO and BDE to AnyDAC back in 2008. This step was extremely successful and allowed us to improve the application speed significantly. Additionally, AnyDAC’s tracing capabilities allowed us to reduce support costs for our worldwide customer base by at least 30 percent.”
--Günther Schoch, CEO of gs-soft, Switzerland

“AnyDAC is an excellent addition to RAD Studio. We moved all of our enterprise and commercial solutions to AnyDAC four years ago and have never looked back!”
--David Taylor, president and chief architect of eXtensia Technologies, USA
“I migrated my BDE and dbExpress applications to AnyDAC, which resulted in higher data access speed and incredible uniformity for accessing different databases, including Firebird, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and MicroFocus COBOL ISAM.”
--Branko Burdian, Independent Software developer

“AnyDAC is a unique access layer in Sesamo’s tax fiscal suite. We have written Delphi applications since Delphi 2 and found AnyDAC to be the ultimate solution. We are able to easily leverage it in local, client/server and critical multiuser remote applications with Firebird or MSSQL as backends without any problems whatsoever. The product’s high-speed performance and superb support team makes it the perfect data layer for our big ledger project data in development with Delphi XE3. This is a shining product.”
--Stefano Monterisi, owner of Sesamo Software, Italia
