A field trip with our SPI is also featured, and honestly, not only the Germans find it funny, I think I do feel embarrassed also with their use of toy car and EM radar to detect for ghost!!??

As the German journalist ends the show, he stated quite clearly (based on the translation) that Singaporeans are not just crazy, but they’re tremendously crazy !!

Another day has passed, another election has been settled, another chapter will be written, for the makings of Singapore.

General Election 2011 for Singapore is not just another election compared to the past history, but its an election where more than half of Singaporeans are given the chance to vote and have their say in the makings of our political landscape. In case you are wondering, most of our past elections, in fact, all the other elections, were mainly walk-overs by our ruling party and there was just too little opposition parties to candidate for those elections, let alone trying to win any.

As for this election, we have more opposition parties, more qualified opposition candidates, and more Singaporeans involved. Our disappointment with our ruling party has spur this election into what we called, a “watershed” election, and the results are not only conclusive, but more of an awakening to our ruling party.

We need changes, we need a more empathetical government, and we want it NOW!

Well, political issues aside, as mentioned before, I’ve never been interested in politics and I really don’t wish to bored myself here. So, instead of analyzing the post election results and dissect the post-mortem report for the Singapore General Election 2011, I have my version of the post-mortem report that is animated into a funny cartoon to share with all. This animations are done by using Go!Animate.

There are three parts to this report and each part poked into the incompetences of our ministers when they are handling some issues that needs to be rectified and corrected, but yet never been done due to their arrogances and also their focus on the international stage instead of our domestic problems.

Without further ado, enjoy the animations I’ve done for you below:-

Part I:

Having fun? Enjoy Part II of my version of the post-mortem report:

Want some more? This is part III of my animation;

That’s all folks… for now. If you want more, do comment below and tell me what other kind of animation you want me to do for you, and if you hate it, feel free to comment below and tell me how much you hate me, I mean, hate it. No bad feelings, I promised, just if you are a hater, please leave your full email address and also your home address :)

If you want to try your hands with this animations, feel free to go to Go!Animate. Have fun.

We, the citizens of Singapore,

pledge ourselves as one united people,

regardless of race, language or religion,

to build a democratic society

based on justice and equality

so as to achieve happiness, prosperity and

progress for our nation.

I’ve never been really interested in politics and only till today, I decided that rather than sitting on the fences or swearing the governing bodies in the pub when even though I might be sober, everybody thought I was drunk, I decided to play my part and do what I do best, to blog about it. (ok, fair, I’m not that good in blogging, but is still a learning process).

This post is entirely my personal view and my personal understanding of the political situation in Singapore. My feelings and my encounters had spurred me to write this post and even if there is any discrepancies in my part, it can only be misinformation but is NOT my way of defaming the government. I’m not scared, I just want you to know my views and I’m not trying to be bias in any way.

Structure Of Singapore Government Body

To kickstart this post, let me explain to you my version of a simple structure of Singapore political parties, in a very basic and preliminary understanding that I know of.

There is a ruling party, it is the People’s Association Party, PAP in short, and then there are opposing parties, those of which do not belongs to PAP and most of the time, will have different views and perspective from the PAP. These are called the opposition parties. Simple as that. As far as I know.

To some, the word Opposition Parties sound radical and feels like as if it is a party that opposes the government, or worst, some even feels that it is a party that when it won, will topple the government upside down and turn the country into a big chaos. In view of this, some countries call the centralizing political power-holding party the right-wing and the party that favors the distributed political power to the people the left-wing parties. For whatever it is, in my little knowledge of politics, I would like to call our non-PAP parties the alternative parties.

The Alternative Party

Why Gei Kiang (act-smart) and create a new name for the Opposition Parties?

Simple. My reason here is to alleviate the worries of our Singapore voters that voting for a non-PAP party does not mean that you are giving up on Singapore, that you are going to create chaos in the harmony of our society, that you are disrupting the racial distribution in our political system, that you are giving up the prospect of upgrading your housing estates. These fears are just unfounded threats that our PAP is trying to instill into the hearts of our Singapore voters. An unscrupulous mean that has worked for the past few elections and I hope my fellow Singaporeans will be awaken this time.

The Transport Problems

If you follow the political movements in Singapore for the past few years, after the previous General Election, you’ll noticed that our government has always been strong and firm in their political decisions in which they made. The cries of the citizens are seldom heard and the complaints are often waved aside. The flood problem, the over-crowding of foreigners, the housing and property prices, the high standards of living, and the infamous ERP and COEs.

Let me add one more. The decisions regarding the public transport;
- Decisions to install mobile-TV in buses when nobody watches (it’s been tear down now),
- Decisions to install fully air-conditioned bus terminals (which nobody is allowed to sleep there though) are made instead of listening to the citizens for more bus frequency instead and also listening to our pleas for more drivers so that they can have better rest and provide a better service.

True, these are decisions NOT made by the government directly, but think about it, the monies wasted on the mobile-TV and the air-conditioned terminals, if spent on recruiting more drivers and buy more buses, we’ll partially solve the transport problems and labour problems and end of the day, there is still no necessity to raise the bus fares!!

Every government makes mistakes, our government does too, said our PM Lee Hsieng Loong, but who is paying the price for these mistakes? Why our transport fares increase? Is it just due to operation cost increase and worldwide petroleum price increase? I don’t know, please comment below and guide me.

The Housing Problems

The issue about housing is one that boils my blood!

About three years ago when property markets are hot, driven by the influx of foreigners, what were the measures been done?

I do not have a degree in economics, but I know prices are determined by the demand and supply of the market. Either lower down the demand, which per se may not be possible due to the unending stream of foreigners, then increase the supply. All you need to do is release some flats, or promise to release some flats, and that will buy the government time for at least another 6 months to a year to discourage unnecessary speculations and will avoid unnecessary over-inflation for the price of the HDB flats!

What about releasing the cost price of our HDB flats? That’ll definitely put a dampen to the speculation and that will definitely give our HDB flat buyers a much more informed buying decision?

But nooooooo…., the greedy one will instead step-in and decree a new law and new taxes and new fees and charges. Is it to help soften the market, or is it the typical behaviour of PAP that whenever there’s a chance, they’ll just squeeze in and ripped off some more monies out of it!!

For those who bought the properties may be for their own stay or may be for their investment, they are now unable to resell them out into the market, not without losses. Do you know how many of them who may be trying their hands for their first time to invest in properties have their hands burnt and how many of them have to declare bankruptcy due to that? Go to Credit Counselling Singapore and attend their seminar. See how many people are attending and go ahead and ask them how many of them are victims of their own “investment greed”.

A good government should never promise what they can’t deliver, fine, I try to believe they want to be a good and honest government, but wait, why the hell you can release 22,000 units of flats 3 years later, when election is coming near!!!

The Masterplan

I remember MM Lee Kuan Yew says that the government masterplan is a long-term plan that stretches for more than 10 years, so what happened, MP Mah Bow Tan did not see the masterplan and didn’t know there are 22,000 flats waiting for him to release at any quantity just so to ease the market price surge??

You see, that’s why we need alternative parties, parties that check on the government and slap them on their hands when in future they forget about their masterplan, the one which our founding father MM Lee Kuan Yew has drafted.

The Long-Term Incumbent Of Singapore Government

The long term incumbency on the political power of Singapore has gotten lots of Singaporeans to equate PAP as Singapore, that Singapore actually belongs to PAP, that losing PAP means losing Singapore as a whole. This is their misconception that needs to be corrected.
The problem is, these misconception was also bear by our PAP ministers and when times go by, they have forgotten about their main purpose in politics and also forgotten about their promises to the citizens of Singapore. They have forgotten about being humble.
Today, only until today, when GE2011 is drawing near, did the PAP finally awakens and realized that they are NOT our master, they are only our representatives.
They don’t own us, they don’t own Singapore. Wake up and smell the roses PAP, it’s time for you to know Singapore belongs to Singaporeans and not PAP.

The Apology From Our Prime Minister

When PM Lee Hsieng Loong apologizes during one their recent rallies, I was touched and angered at the same time. This is a feeling that’s really difficult to explain, but for every true Singaporean who holds our Singapore birth certificate and who holds the original pink IC, I believe you can feel it too.

My take for it?

I’ll say, thank you PM Lee for your governing and thank you PM Lee for your relentless effort to bring us to where we are Internationally. I appreciate your work and I do love you. Honestly and straight from my heart. It hurts to see your Prime Minister to apologize, a government is not just a punching bag but in reality, they are our fathers and our mothers. No son or daughter will like to receive an apology from the Parents, no matter what, we forgive you, I forgive you. You’ve been too humbled and if I did not say it enough, let me say it one more time, I love you Prime Minister Lee Hsieng Loong.

The Rationale For The Apology

At this very moment, my mixed feeling surged out from me and I would like to ask;

“Why only you apologize and not the rest ?”

“Why only apologize now and yet deny any wrongdoings before ?”

Is this a sincere apology from our Prime Minister, or is it just a last minute struggle to seek for some sympathetic votes? If it’s sincere, where are the other MPs that supposed to apologize for their screw-ups?

Has Yacoob apologize for the floods?

Has Mah Bow Tan apologize for profiteering the housing problems?

Has our Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan apologize for telling our aged and sick to go JB, Malaysia for their cheaper nursing homes? You unfilial son of Singapore. How dare you tell our parents to nurse in another country so that our hospitals can cater for the richer foreigners!!!! Did it occur to you that what if Malaysia knows that our parents, even though they may be cash poor, are probably asset rich, and held them ransom like the Malaysia CLOB shares !!!

You son of gun!!

Vote For The Alternative Parties

When you vote for the alternative parties, you are sending these representatives into the Parliament to voice our concern for us. The PAP is already too cocky to listen to us anymore. Their minds are full of GDPs and trying to be a social butterfly to dance in the international stage, they have already no regards for the woes of the ordinary Singaporean, the aged and the poor. As what they say, “if you want to have economic success, there are bound to have Singaporeans left behind” . My dear PAP, this is a country, not a capitalized entity. Through good or bad, it is the people that makes up a country, not just GDPs. LEAVE NO MAN BEHIND !!! You can bring them forward to match on with the rest of us, all you need to do is turn your head around and listen!!

Have you?

Did you?

Will you?

When you vote for the alternative parties, you vote for a party that cares, not threaten you with housing estate upgrading and whatever crap.

When you vote for the alternative parties, you vote for a party that ensures the country to grow as one, and you can be assured that if the government forgets to turn their head around to see the people falling behind, there is somebody to tap them on the shoulder and ask them to slow down and listen.

When you vote for the alternative parties, you vote for an alternative voice in the Parliament. Voices that will demand for transparencies and voices that will demand for democracy. Voices that echoed from our hearts. Every true sons’ and daughters’ of Singapore’s heart.

Vote for the alternative parties. This is your country, your homeland, your brotherhood, your choice. Use it wisely.

If you are worried about MM Lee Kuan Yew says about voting the alternative parties and we’ll live to repent, let me tell you one thing; I prefer a country that I can grow old with, that I can learn together with, that I can be stay in even when I near to stay in a nursing home, that I can ….

If this is the life that I have to live with and repent, my only repentances is that we should have done it five years ago.

Voting for PAP means everything will be fine and they’ve learned their lessons. Come on, MP George Yeo has stayed in Office for the past 22 years, you mean all this 22 years he never able to learn, and suddenly, he can wake up his idea. Come on. I’m not going to bet on my son’s future and then get another apology five years later.

Will You Lose Everything?

Many people told me, not that much recently, but for the past previous elections, they say that if you vote for the alternative parties, you are courting trouble and not long later, you will lose your business, your house, made a bankrupt and deported out of Singapore and declared as Marxist.

Come on… we have a different Prime Minister now. This is a Prime Minister that learns to connect with the youth via Facebook, that learns to be humble and apologize (again, the level of sincerity is unknown), that tries to shed the dictatorship behavior from his old man. You can rest assure, even if he knows you are voting for the alternatives, he’ll try his best to win you back in the next election.

So rest assured, you don’t have to worry, only I need to worry, I’m writing this blog against my educated intelligence and against my naysayers, but hey, to me, if I can’t participate as a alternative party member, I’ll do my part here for my country Singapore. If it’s to be, it’s up to me.

Your Vote Is Secret

Anyway, I was joking about PM Lee knowing whom you’ll vote.

Your vote is safe.

Your vote is secret.

Your vote is sacred.

See my post Is Your Vote Safe For GE 2011?

Don’t Trust TCS and SPH

Yeah, the video looks more like a propaganda and honestly, can we really those folks from TCS and SPH? Their reporting are always lopsided and always taking things out-of-context for the alternative parties. Look at the past few elections and I believe you’ll see understanding what I mean.

Thanks for Internet, Facebook and Youtube, we are no longer in the dark.

So, if you don’t trust that propaganda video, how about listening to NCMP Sylvia Lim and you know one thing for sure…. You can always trust the representatives that echoes our heart.

Prefer to hear from your GRC’s representative? How this?

Cast your vote. It’s your choice. Majulah Singapura!!!

It’s no secret that I’ve been advocating my vote and garnering more Singaporeans to make their choice in this upcoming GE 2011 on May 7th, 2011 to vote for the opposition parties. I’ve been rather active in Facebook itself posting updates, videos, and personal opinions regarding this election too. You can friend me at http://www.facebook.com/delsonmoo to see my status update and share with me your opinion and your views, I’ll be very much interested to learn from you, regardless whether you are a supporter of whichever party. I’m a social media whore, so I’ll definitely friend you as long as you are not soliciting unnecessary stuffs to me.

The moment I step to the allocated polling station and hand over my IC, the person-in-charge called out my IC number and my name. He then give me my ballot paper and before handing over to me, he called out the serial number for the ballot paper. A simple put 1+1 and you’ll know that they can actually know who I vote when I drop the ballot paper into the ballot box!! What the bloody CB hell you are doing!!! You say it’s secret and yet you can trace every single vote from every single ballot paper by every single person!!

Might as well don’t vote!!

I blew my top and asked why the hell the serial numbers are for?

I’m not scare to vote for the opposition, but I don’t wish my family and my parents to be affected due to my vote. Nobody in the polling station knows what the hell the serial numbers are for.

Last night, I came across a video.

This video was put together by a team of volunteers. For the first time on video, Singaporeans from different walks of life come together to speak about their voting experiences. A former Straits Times journalist who had witnessed the actual destruction of the ballot papers from the 2006 General Elections also speaks about what he saw.

The video explains the voting process, and what happens to ballot papers after they are counted.

The Voting Process

A voter’s name and number is called out at the polling station, because representatives of the competing parties need to verify and cross out the name on their registers of voters. This allows parties to tally the total number of votes and the number of ballot papers issued, at the close of voting.

Ballot papers bear serial numbers, to prevent double voting with forged ballots.

Many other first world democracies around the world, like Britain and Canada, also have serial numbers on their ballot papers.

After The Ballot Papers Are Counted

The ballot papers are placed into locked metal boxes, which are sealed. This is witnessed by the competing political parties, and they sign the seals.

These locked boxes are stored in the Supreme Court vault for six months, in case any party wishes to challenge the results.

These locked boxes cannot be opened unless there is a court order on the grounds of election fraud. There has been no such claim since Singapore first conducted elections in 1948.

Six months after the elections, these locked boxes are removed from the Supreme Court and sent directly to the incineration plant. This is witnessed by all political parties, and journalists, who will ensure that the seals are intact.

The entire process is very secure and transparent to all political parties. There is no doubt that people’s votes are secret. You can read out at the Ballot Secrecy from the Elections Department. Watch the video here.

She was supposed to be propelled by the ruling party PAP to be their ambassador or to me, their “mascot”, in order to reach out to the younger generation and to bring in more rallying youngster.

Bad move !!

She was ousted instead and rather to accept her young and pleasing looks, lots are looking at her for being a young act-cute money-hungry and power-greedy politician-wannabe who dumped her boyfriend to marry a much older man to order to gain admittance to the political field.

I have nothing against her, but was rather puzzled by a few air-headed replies she gave during this election period and seriously, one does wonder is she suitable to be our MP or not?

To me, she’s more like a taboo doll used by lots of anti-PAP to be our punchbag and seriously, no matter what she tries to do, she’ll only gather more hatred against her. Try harder after the election, TPL.

I’ll write more about her later but for now, I just want you to enjoy this video clip regarding how we do not want to spend S$15,000 every month for her to be our MP. (figures are provided based on this clip so please don’t jail me for defamation MM Lee Kuan Yew).

It’s no secret my heart goes to the opposition party, The Workers’ Party, and although I’m staying in Hougang, I was zone to the Ang Mo Kio GRC by our kiasu and kiasi government, the PAP Party.

I can’t vote for The Workers’ Party, and I’m only given the choice of The Reform Party and Pay-And-Pay Party (I mean, People’s Action Party).

I can never understand why when I’m staying in Hougang, I’m herded into Ang Mo Kio, when we have probably different lifestyle, different neighborhood, different facilities, different luxuries, different transport means, in fact, we are totally different in terms of our estates.

Why am I supposed to rejoice with those who stay in Ang Mo Kio and praise the government for what they have and we don’t?

Why are we being punished for voting the opposition even though we pay the same taxes and follow the same law and pay the same type of bills?

Why are we being punished for voting the opposition even though all we want is somebody to be in the parliament to speak for us? We tried to speak to you, but did you listen?

Now that my estate is being zoned into Ang Mo Kio, does it mean that when PAP won, our housing block will be upgraded, and our neighbouring block which may be in the opposition party will stay put? Does it mean that in my small estate, eventually it’ll look like new housing blocks lining up with some old gutters?
If my RMIT mates from Australia came to visit me (yeah, I can’t make it to NUS so went to RMIT), what am I supposed to tell them when they asked why the facade for this housing block looks so new and the one opposite looks like … that ?

I don’t know, and I’m really very confused.

For the remainder 3 days before election on May 7th, 2011, I’ll need to sit quietly and think … Do I want a world-class government that brings Singapore to the International stage and yet bring Singaporeans down to their knees, or do I want a first-world parliament where there’ll be someone in the parliament speaking for us and voice our concern?

Do I vote for the ruling party now and wait for them to apologize to us again 5 years later, during the next election, for again not listening to us; or

Do I vote for my opposition party, the Reform Party, in my GRC, just to send some votes away from the ruling party, though my heart was not really with them; or

Do I void my vote to show the ruling party that I’m not happy with them and to show the opposition party that you need to work harder to impress me?

I’m not given much choice, but YOU, you have a choice.

Please vote wisely, whether to PAP or any other party your heart goes with, and make sure that you know this is the time for you to speak out and this is the time for you to express your views, you have a choice, use it.
