The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), commonly called the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or, colloquially, ObamaCare, is a United States federal statute signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010. Together with the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act amendment, it represents the most significant regulatory overhaul of the U.S. healthcare system since the passage of Medicare and Medicaid in 1965. Under the act, hospitals and primary physicians would transform their practices financially, technologically and clinically to drive better health outcomes, lower costs and improve their methods of distribution and accessibility. Perhaps the most troubling aspect of the administration of this super bureaucracy is found the state cooperatives.

(CORONA- insync with DemConnect.com) For a majority of those 65+, the COLA acronym is not about a beverage, but about their Social Security income (SSI). At least, the term explains how and when they might expect an increase in SSI. Automatic benefit increases for SSI, also known as cost-of-living adjustments or COLAs, have been in effect since 1975. The 1975-82 COLAs were effective with Social Security benefits payable for June (received by beneficiaries in July) in each of those years. After 1982, COLAs have been effective with benefits payable for December (received by beneficiaries in January). ▶ STORY

By far, a vast majority of the 1317 homeowners in my common interest development community (or HOA) have more than a passing interest in Social Security and the COLA, whether it exists or not. So, I challenge every one to agree, disagree or comment on the following 'social current see.'

If your Medicare premiums are withheld from your Social Security benefits and Social Security does not have a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for 2016 because of low inflation, you will continue to pay $104.90 per month for Part B. That’s because the “hold harmless” provision prohibits Social Security benefits from being reduced because of an increase in Medicare premiums. Medicare cost increases are generally covered by the Social Security COLA.
