I did not have internet connection for a number of days which is really terrible but luckily, I got connected today and I won't have to go out and use a public computer to do this. I could question the wisdom of writing articles everyday because there is just no guarantee that anyone will find your pages much less, read them.

I have found something which might be cool to know. I learned that I might be able to improve the rankings of my site by doing some seo work. This has been a real pain for me because nothing seems to work. Well, I went to Cagayan de Oro a while back and I forgot all about doing anything else except promote one little tiny little site.

I found that I could do something that might be considered right because my rankings went a little bit better. I have something on page two and that is no mean feat. I will be going back to Cagayan and I will redouble my efforts to make my sites rank a little better.

I might even get my little webserver back online. That would really be cool.

I am making a series of posts which are spread across a number of blogs and they deal with changing one's life very specifically my life. I am sick of my life and my lack of control over it and I have therefore embarked on a program of changing my life by changing my mind and the way my mind makes thoughts. This is something I have been doing on and off, trying to change my life that is, but this is the first time that I am going to talk about it and post my progress as well as the thoughts and philospohies related to it.

It might be a while before Densoy comes back from the cruise ship in Europe where he works. I often wonder how he does it, working on a cruise vessel. For sure, he gets to see many places in Europe and even in Egypt, an experience completely alien to me. I never go anywhere except when I go to Cagayan de Oro. The web is my world and it suits me fine. I guess it might be a matter of temperament. I do not like to go to strange places at all. For one thing, I would miss my plants and my daily routine. I check my websites and do things and that on my computer. Everything is just the way I like it except for the part where I make money. If I could make some money from the Internet then it would be the best life ever.

I did make some money by pure chance last year but it was the only money I made on the Internet. It tok a bit of maneuvering before I could spend that money. I mostly wasted it on scammy types of internet products. I consider it tuition money for my schooling on the internet. I could just see myself last year, drooling over some offering that would make me a super-rich internet guy. I still get these offers in my inbox but I look t them now with jaded eyes.

Leaving again in a few weeks

Dennis will be leaving again for Manila on Monday and later he will fly to the U.S. on his way to Europe to join his cruise ship. It will be a while before he comes back home again, between 6 - 8 months. Like many of his kababayan, he works abroad far from loved ones and family in an effort to make a decent living for himself. Ching's World talks about heroes like him whose toil and effort has kept the Philippines afloat in these hard times. Ching's world celebrates Dennis and those who serve like him in foreign lands. It is indeed a sad state of affairs when a son has to leave his family in order to earn a living. Is it so impossible to earn in his own country? Why does he have to go far and serve other people? Can he not earn a decent living here? Politicians have only given him lip service while they plunder the riches of the country without thought, without compunction, without a second look.

A father knows his son

A father will always love his son even when no words pass between them. He will always understand that he is difficult to communicate with. He just wishes that his son is still little and he can tell him things that won't be questioned. He knows that he might have let down his son many times without even realizing it. There will always be gaps between a father and a son but he wishes there were ways to bridge these.

Such is life and he just hopes that he has given his son enough hints about his thoughts and intentions and how he has lived his life in the hope that these may as guideposts, lead him to where he will be happy. Being stern and forcing the issue will only widen the gap and create animosity and rancor in a heart that may have been disillusioned.

Back to the Ship

Congex is back on board his Cruise Vessel and is not expected back until next year. I had many photos of him in the Vatican, at the Sistine Chapel, at St. Peter's Square, the Spanish Steps, etc. There was one spectacular photograph of the Solar Eclipse taken from the Mediterranean and I would have wanted to publish it here but my hard drive gave out and took those precious photos with it.

I should have backed up that hard drive. God knows how fragile computer components really are. But one never thinks that today would be a bad day. No one listens to Murphy's Law I guess, least of all, me. I should not be blaming Murphy's Law because I should have seen it coming, the way I had been using that hard drive. When it started making funny noises I should already have made preparations to transfer my data.

In many ways I am fatalistic and I let things happen as they will. I like to watch and see events as they unfold even if it is disastrous for me. A hard drive is bound to give out. There is an estimated life expectancy which is between seven and nine years. One definitely expects it to give out earlier or later than this estimate. I was happy having that hard drive work for me for around six years. That hard drive has seen lots of data come and go and I have lost many of them to negligence.

I guess being prudent and backing up stuff is a trait or characteristic which is admirable but I never got around to learning or assimilating it into my personality. Everything must succcumb to the inexorable force of entropy and to attempt to reverse or counter it is merely going to delay the inevitable. I believe that when it goes, then it is time to get something new. He he. Is that foolish, or what?

The Sphinx in Egypt

Densoy Villarin with the Guardian of the Horizon. The Sphinx in Giza is truly an astounding figure; the paws alone measure 50 feet. The only one of its kind in the world it has the body of a lion and the head of a king or a god or both, a god-king. It symbolizes the power and majesty of ancient Egypt as well as its mystical culture which still evokes a feeling of awe and a sense of an other-worldly dimension. They were a civilization of building things that are great and unparalleled.

At the Great Pyramids in Giza, Egypt, Dennis Bryan who is more popularly known by his friends as, Densoy strikes a pose before the pyramid in Egypt. His Cruise ship having docked at Alexandria, Egypt, he joined a tour to visit the Sphinx and the pyramids, a three-hour ride from Alexandria. Densoy, is also known as Cocong or Congex to his family, took the opportunity to take some photographs of the sites in Egypt.
