Denpasar is the capital town of Bali Island (Bali Province). Denpasar also well known to almost anyone who visit Indonesia's famed and exotic tropical island. Denpasar standing as a capital dates back to the southern Balinese Kingdom of Badung. The city was sacked and the royal palace razed as part of a Dutch invasion on the island in 1906. During their conquest of the island, the Dutch defeated King of Badung (Balinese Kingdom of Badung) nearby in 1906. Denpasar was rebuilt in 1906 after the Puputan Massacre, when the city's royal families committed suicide rather than surrender to the invading Dutch army.
