The most common reason teeth break is some dental fillings are very large, they also re-decay. Small dental fillings do not break as easily. At times the tooth structure becomes weak and fatigues. You have to remember we many times eat hot foods followed by a cold drink. This causes micro-expansion and contraction of the old dental filling materials. The pressure of mastication also helps break the dental fillings and tooth structure. The normal solution is to crown the tooth i.e. full coverage. The best are gold crowns. They never break and usually have the best fit. Goal crowns are very biocompatible.

Oral pain can be a debilitating thing to deal with. Sometimes it can be caused by a sore spot on your gums or having something stuck between your teeth. Dental pain is also commonly caused by tooth decay or broken tooth filling. This is the kind of pain that can stop someone in their tracks. Dealing with the dental pain depends on the kind of pain you are dealing with. For oral sores, you can purchase over-the-counter ointments that will numb in some cases help to heal the store. Flossing everyday can help prevent pain caused by infection, or discomfort of having something stuck between your teeth. As for the problems with the tooth itself, this requires help from your dentist. Commonly a patient is told by their dentist that they have tooth decay, the patient sometimes is not experiencing any pain so opt out of treatment. Often times, the situations in which the tooth will start to ache in the middle night, causing the person a great deal of pain and no way to alleviate it until he can get into their dentist. In this situation, many people tend to take over-the-counter pain meds, such as Advil and numbing agents. This is something you should clear by you doctor first on however. These will only sometimes work, and are very temporary forms relief, but are in some cases worth a try. You can also try to warm compress to ease the pain.

The best thing to do in this situation is to prevent the pain altogether I get regular check-ups in adhering to your dentist recommendations. Tooth pain is very hard to control, and when assets and can even take a while to go away. Regular dental care will be very effective in preventing the problem of tooth pain.

Whatever our age, Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, or whichever media site one prefers, has made it possible to stay in touch.

The ability we have to stay involved in others lives, gives us the power to share our own experiences and knowledge with our friends. Use this ability when you can. If you have a friend that has posted a symptom or problem, or is looking for a new Dentist or Doctor and you have a good answer, SHARE!

For those of us who are fortunate enough to call Dr Sebastian, and his dental staff, our “dental family,” we should share their information with a friend who may mention in a post they are looking for a good dentist, or are in need of dental assistance.

In closing I ask that we pay attention to what is being said in ways we may not have before. When you see a friend saying they have a tooth ache, or their jaw clicks when they chew; maybe you notice a friend wants whiter teeth, or their partner’s snoring can compete with a bears growl! Please send them to your dental family, as we always have for you, we will take good care of them.

Have you recently returned to the dating scene? Are you worried about your breath? Bad breath has a direct corrrelation with your oral health. Systemic reasons for halitosis could be sinusitis ,diabetes along with smoking & alcohol. How ever the most common reason for bad breath are the by- products of bacteria. This plaque is hidding along the gum line & between teeth. The normal treatment is brushing & flossing. That means removing all food particles in the mouth. Bad breath is one of the most frequent reasons for dental appointments.

However skateboarding & bicycles accidents are notorious for causing dental trauma. Another name for dental mouth guards are mouth protectors, this is really more discriptive name. A well constructed dental mouth guards can also help prevent concussions. Mouth guards are mostly recommended for contact sports. Mouth Guards prevents damage to teeth and prevents avulsion of a tooth.. My wife was a victim of a baseball bat, and my dental assistant was a victim of a rollerskating accident. For more information on mouth guards contact your dentist or go on youtube to type in knocked out teeth. There are 3 types of mouth guards we can use :

1.) Custom Mouth- the are most recommended by your dentist and more comfortable for your mouth contact your dentist for more information on mouth guards and see which ones are more suitable for you and your mouth.

2.) Mouth forrmed- made by the patient by biting into the plastic material.

3.) Ready Made- stock one size fits all which is the least comfortable.

What is the best and easiest tooth whitening method. The best tooth whitening agent is Carbamide Peroxide. It comes in different concentrations. The whitening agent needs contact time time against the tooth for a great result. Whitening tooth pastes do not work well, because of little contact time on the surface of each tooth. The paste is rinsed out right away. Whitening tooth paste is a waste of money in my opinion Opalescence bleaching gel, when used on bleaching trays, gives the best result. I have been recommened Opalescence for over 20 years. Opalescence @ 15% 4-6 hours max or Opalescence @ 20% 2-4 hours max. The only draw back on teeth whitening is that you will have sensitivity to cold , but this is usually will subside within time. In my opinion this method of tooth whitening is the most cost effective.

The city of Huntington Beach, CA does fluoridate the city water. However most parents dont allow their children to drink tap water. Plus to get your recommended daily amount of fluoride you need to drink one liter of water a day. The city of Huntington Beach Public works reports that only 6% of the water in your home comes out of your faucet. That means 94% of water is used for other home uses. In time of fiscal uncertainty, In order to balance the budget the city of Huntington Beach should stop fluoridating city drinking water. Fluoridated water is mostly wasted. Plus does the city really need to print this water quality report and mail it to all its residents in the city approximately 202,566 residents and 73,657 living in the the city of Huntington Beach, CA.
