Family, friends mourn McNair’s girlfriend Kazemi
The woman who killed Steve McNair before turning the gun on herself is being remembered by about 30 friends and family members in Florida. Sahel Kazemi, 20, was laid to rest Friday in a private ceremony at Jacksonville Memory Gardens. Cemetery officials prevented reporters and photographers from covering the graveside service. Kazemi dropped out of high school and moved to Nashville, Tenn., from Florida with a boyfriend at age 17. She met McNair a few months ago and the two had been dating.

Stallworth out of jail after serving 24 days
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte’ Stallworth has been released from a Miami jail after serving 24 days for DUI manslaughter. His attorney, Christopher Lyons, says Stallworth was released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center early Friday. The 28-year-old Stallworth served 24 days of the 30-day jail sentence after pleading guilty to DUI manslaughter. Stallworth struck and killed a pedestrian in an early morning crash March 14.

The Denver Broncos already lost quarterback Jay Cutler this offseason, so dealing another Pro Bowl offensive player is far from ideal. Receiver Brandon Marshall wants to be dealt, but the Broncos don’t appear in a rush to accommodate that wish.

That could lead to more drama for a team that has had its share this offseason. Marshall could hold out of training camp, creating a distraction.

Marshall would also fall behind in learning the new offense and working with new quarterback Kyle Orton, which would hurt the team on the field. Marshall hasn’t practiced at all this offseason because of hip surgery.

The hit Steve McNair took to his chest in September 2000 had the NFL quarterback ready to quit the game that caused him so much pain, so much that he spent a bye weekend with the team’s former chaplain in Houston. Then McNair, who struggled to breathe, watched his backup knocked out of the Titans’ next game. “He turned and looked at me and winked,” Titans coach Jeff Fisher recalled Thursday night at a memorial service for the slain quarterback.

Company: Cowboys’ roof replaced for ‘aesthetics’
The company that built the Dallas Cowboys‘ indoor practice facility that collapsed this spring is telling its customers that the ill-fated fabric structure got a new roof last year because of team concerns about “aesthetics,” not structural problems. Nathan Stobbe of Summit Structures LLC included the explanation in a letter sent to customers of the Allentown, Pa.-based company. The letter, which was obtained by The Associated Press, seeks to reassure customers that their buildings are safe.
