Of all modern homes styles, mid century modern usonians are my favorite. It’s no wonder then that Arapahoe Acres is one of my favorite Denver neighborhoods. Julie Winger, of Coldwell Banker Devonshire, dropped me a line to let me know 3040 South Cornell is on the market.

Sorry for the lack of posts this week. Been pretty busy with my real job. Anyway, Floyd Magee sent me some info about a built green modern home in Ridgeway, Colorado. Visit Floyd’s web site for more details.

For those of you who never venture to the western slope, Ridgeway is a great little town, just north of Ouray and Telluride. the area is not quite as mountainous as the towns to the south, so it gets more sun in the winter. It’s also home to the Orvis Hot Springs.

2085 S. Monroe Street - University Hills

Dan Sullivan, who’s listing this Californian Contemporary located at 2085 Monroe St. told me that Condoleeza Rice used to live there. So I guess it’s sort of famous.

It’s located in the University Terraces development. An enclave of 11 patio homes that were originally built in 1964 by the University of Denver for visiting professors. Check out Dan’s web page for more details.

918 Northridge Ct. - Genesee

This is arguably the most incredible modern property in Colorado. I guess the Sculpted House would give it a run for it’s money, but that’s about it. 918 Northridge Ct. was designed by Alexander Gorlin, and built in 2000. It was also selected to be one of the houses in the 2002 edition of ‘100 of the World’s Best Houses’.

The 11,472 sf home sits on four acres of land on the back side of Genesee. The list of features is extensive, so visit Suellen Palcanis‘ site for all the details. Suellen has invited me to tour the home. We just need to figure out a time that works for both of us. I’ll take plenty of pictures!

June Schlesinger at Live Urban Real Estate gave me the heads up about this sweet duplex in Curtis Park.

With the price of oil skyrocketing, neighborhoods like Curtis Park are gaining more and more allure. It’s close to light rail, and downtown in general. In fact you can see just how close you are to downtown from the rooftop deck of this home. More info here.

I had the opportunity to see this house when it was on the market a few years ago. It’s one of the roomier homes in Arapahoe Acres, but it needed a lot of work. The kitchen was thrashed.

The current owners have done a great job of bringing this home back to life. 2908 S. Lafayette is move in ready and roomy, and is located on one of the nicest lots in the neighborhood.
