Some Firefox 3 Tweaks!

Fast loading web pages while surfing the Internet may have more to do with your web browser settings and preferences than your Internet connection speed. Try these easy Firefox tweaks and you’ll see that you’re surfing the Internet from 3 to 30 times faster!

To get started, open your Firefox 3 web browser. In the address/location bar type [about:config] and then press your Enter key. (NOTE: DON’T TYPE THE BRACKETS)

Tweak #1:
In the Filter bar type [network.http.pipelining]. Then, double-click on this line under Preference Name in order to change the value from false to true.

Tweak #2:
In the Filter bar type [network.http.pipelining.maxrequests]. Then, double-click on this line under Preference Name and change the value from 4 to a higher number anywhere from 10 to 30. I set mine to 30.

Tweak #3:
In the Filter bar type [network.http.proxy.pipelining]. Then, double-click on this line under Preference Name in order to change the value from false to true.

Tweak #4:
In the Filter bar type [network.dns.disableIPv6]. Then, double-click on this line under Preference Name in order to change the value from false to true.

Tweak #5:
In the Filter bar type [plugin.expose_full_path]. Then, double-click on this line under Preference Name in order to change the value from false to true.

Tweak #6:
In the Filter bar type [network.protocol-handler.external.ms-help]. Now, you are going to create a new Preference Name with an Integer Value. To do this, right-click on this line under Preference Name and select New, then Integer. In the New Integer value box type in [nglayout.initialpaint.delay] and click OK. Then in the Enter Integer value box type "0" (that’s a zero) and click OK.

Tweak #7:
In the Filter bar again type [network.protocol-handler.external.ms-help]. Now, you are going to create another new Preference Name with an Integer Value. To do this, right-click on this line under Preference Name and select New, then Integer. In the New Integer value box type in [content.notify.backoffcount] and click OK. Then in the Enter Integer value box type "5" and click OK.

Tweak #8:
In the Filter bar again type [network.protocol-handler.external.ms-help]. Now, you are going to create another new Preference Name with an Integer Value. To do this, right-click on this line under Preference Name and select New, then Integer. In the New Integer value box type in [ui.submenuDelay] and click OK. Then in the Enter Integer value box type "0" (that’s a zero) and click OK.

Now, close your web browser and restart it. You’ll see how much faster web pages are loading. I’m sure you did it! Enjoy c”,)

I really need medical dictionary for my work, you know! Being a nurse really needs more information and it must be handy and easy to access so that you can use it any time you want. So, I am browsing the net to find one and good thing I found this medical software for the PDA. I read about this software and find out more information regarding this gadget with this very helpful software. I found out that I can immediately access the information needed to have an idea regarding the prescribing decisions of the physicians - such as drug dosing, side effects and health plan coverage. One of the most fascinating things I love in using internet is that I can gather all information I wanted just like information on watches. I enjoy looking for watches comparing it to the other. Although, I am not into buying all of them but, I have my own set of watches. Since I always believe time is gold, I never forget to wear it every day.

I am curious of these genta watches, the very reason search it in the net. Wow! I am pleased with the information I get. I have never seen a watch as provocative as this one. The creator was not afraid to use brilliant and provocative color. Plus, each watch is a daring combination of materials and exquisite craftsmanship.

Perhaps, I will be able to own one of these watches or yet it will just be a dream. Well, these watches would mirror its wearer since it is style to be that way. It is a very complicated watch yet, very remarkable. Wearing it is a statement; ultimately you will become an exceptional individual. Wow! I can't stop thinking about it. It keeps coming back in my mind as if inviting me to buy one of those. Why not? If I have cash but, I don't have that much and that is the sad part.

Failing Hard Disks Info!

Typically, hard disk drives are pretty silent hardware components. I mean, of course you can hear them, but the normal sounds they make are not too powerful and they appear under heavy workloads. Or so it is supposed to be, as there are some older drives that make a lot of noise when running at full capacity.

Occasionally, users may hear knocking or clicking sounds coming out from the hard disk drive in the form of a rhythmic sound that starts and stops at random time intervals. Most of the time the sound you hear is the first sign that your hard disk is getting old and it might quit on you rather sooner than later. This can happen when powering up your computer or working halfway on your computer and as a precaution measure you should back up all your important data.

If the sound you hear is more like a grinding sound than a nice clicking one, then I'm so sorry for your hard disk drive, as the heads just decided to scratch a little the data surfaces. This however, would be the worst case scenario, besides having the logic chips fried by an overvoltage, as the data can only be recovered in a specialized lab. Mechanical faults are quite common and they represent a physical damage and these sounds can be caused by a malfunctioning spindle, Read Write head or loose components. Backup your data immediately if you are still able to access data on the disk. Your disk is near the end of its life and will stop functioning anytime. If your disk stops spinning after a period of clicking sound, you may wish to send your disk to a reputable data recovery firm to recover your data.

IE 8 Incompatible with Yahoo and Gmail?

Microsoft recently released a beta version of Internet Explorer 8 and, since we're talking about one of the most popular browsers on the web, lots of people downloaded, installed and tested it. However, some of them may encounter unexpected problems because IE8 doesn't support several important web services, including Gmail and Yahoo Mail. In fact, you may manage to log in using the "Emulate IE7" function but, the compatibility issues still exist. So, what do you think with this new browser? But for me, still Firefox is the best, Isn't it?

SMS and Email Pen?

D:Scribe is a digital fountain pen that allows users to send SMS and email messages from paper. Just write out the message and circle the person's name to send. This does away with a keypad and allows you to focus on communicating in a more personal way from anywhere as long as you have a bluetooth enabled phone and a surface to write on. The pen also records everything you write which can be accessed on a computer. Of course for the creative peeps, if writing doesn't suit your fancy, the D:Scribe also works with genius and not so genius drawings of brilliance.

The design is loosely based on a quill and inkwell where by the quill is the writing apparatus and the inkwell is an electromagnetic induction charger.

Once a message is sent, the status is displayed on the built-in OLED screen. The designers have also expanded its capabilities beyond that of messaging. Should your home electronics and appliances be bluetooth enabled, you could potentially program the pen to input commands by writing in the air. A little abstract but let's pretend this idea is more a patent for possibilities.

How to Enable Right-Click on Some Sites that Disabled it!

Here are lots of web sites that have disabled the right-click function of the mouse button.which is really, really annoying! This is done so that you don't steal via (Right-Click | Save Picture) their photos or images or any other goodies and unfortunately, it disables all right-click functionality; copy, paste, open in new window...

Here's How:

For IE 6 or Higher:

Click Tools | Internet Options
Click the "Security" tab
Click "Custom Level"
Scroll down to the "Scripting" section
Set "Active Scripting" to "Disable"
Click "Ok" a couple of times...

NOTE: turn that back to "enable" again when your done, 'cause generally the javascript enhances a website...

For Firefox:

Click Tools | Options | Content uncheck "Java" and "Javascript" and then reload the site...

NOTE: check that again when your done, 'cause generally the javascript enhances a website...

Another Alternative:

~before you change settings try holding down the "Ctrl" key and Right-Clicking... this also works in a lot of cases...

Tiny MRI Machines!

The team of researchers from the Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Technology Engineering in Sankt Ingbert, Germany along with Magritek, a Kiwi firm, has been developing tiny MRI machines using permanent magnets in a specific alignment. It is not clear yet what the medical implications for this imaging modality would be. I imagine one can view ingrown toe nails with one of these, what do you think guys? This would be the biggest break in the MRI machines!

The Magnetic Resonance working group at the Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Technology Engineering IBMT in Sankt Ingbert has made magnetic resonance imaging mobile. They collaborated with the New Zealand company Magritek to develop small portable devices. Dr. Frank Volke, head of the Magnetic Resonance working group, explains the core technology: "Instead of the large superconducting magnets that have to be cooled with liquid helium and nitrogen, extra-strong permanent magnets are installed in our devices. There is no need for cooling anymore." To make this possible, several permanent magnets are so arranged that the magnetic field lines overlap to form a homogeneous field. In this way, the developers have succeeded in developing small, less expensive, and above all portable magnetic resonance spectrometers that can even be powered by batteries.

Basically, this procedure will destroy/delete all data and partition/s of your hard drive. So, better yet back-up all data before doing this procedure.

Here's How:
1. boot on DOS Mode
2. type debug and hit enter
3. at the "-" prompt type A and then hit enter
4. type MOV AX, 0301 then hit enter
5. type MOV BX, 0020 then hit enter
6. type MOV CX, 0001 then hit enter
7. type MOV DX, 0080 then hit enter
8. type INT13 then hit enter
9. hit enter again
10. type G and then hit enter!
