Attendees came with open ears and full of interest to learn what is up and coming.  Many attendees were so excited about the fact that they could make extra money for their iPhone images that they downloaded the app immediately. 

 #sfbeta is Silicon Valley’s start up mixer featuring the next generation of innovators. On Thursday, May 8, #sfbeta hosted an iOS edition celebrating startups that have created a new platform or app for either the iPad or iPhone.  And since Depositphotos just recently launched Clashot for the iPhone, we thought this would be a perfect fit for us to promote our new service.

If you are not familiar with Clashot yet, it is Depositphotos groundbreaking application that is disrupting the way editorial photographs are produced and used by various visual content consumers. Clashot gives the opportunity to anyone that owns a mobile device; to immediately capture newsworthy events with their camera phone, upload them to the Clashot application, where they will be sold as editorials to content buyers on Clashot.com and depositphotos.com.

 With this application, we are able to provide photo contributors with recognition and a dollar reward. We hope that Clashot will become a first step forward to the regulation of a legal mobile content usage issue in mass media. To say the least, Depositphotos is very excited about the new product.  It is currently available for download for iOS.

Depositphotos invited San Francisco based food photographer and Instagram enthusiast, Sonya Yu, to act as a brand ambassador for Clashot. If there is anyone that has more passion for photography than Depositphotos, it is Sonya Yu. Her work has been featured in The Huffington Post, a Good Morning America segment, ABC News and was just named one of Go Mighty’s 31 most influential women. To bring Sonya up to speed with our product, we first met at a delicious restaurant called The Plow for breakfast located in Potrero Hill.  It was great to catch up and learn about her present works in progress and up and coming projects.  Check out Sonya’s Tumblr account and her adorable pup Trotter, on Instagram @trotterpup:

 The show was held at a gallery space off Minna Street in SOMA district.  The event had a very relaxed vibe with cocktails and champagne flowing and even a hot dog stand.  The turnout was fantastic with much eager start up companies ready to introduce themselves to the world.  We got to mingle with start-ups such as Bizzabo, Pixt and Open Label.

 And of course we had to stop by Blue Bottle to grab THE best cup of coffee.

And last but not least…The Golden Gate Bridge.  Though a distant shot from Fort Mason, our trip would not be complete without viewing the cities iconic bridge.

Here I am with some “Big Shots” outside of the convention hall.

PhotoShop World is a three-day conference targeting photo enthusiasts and professionals. This workshop is designed to boost photographer’s skills, whether they are a professional or amateur, by introducing and demonstrating the latest Photoshop software and lighting techniques.

This week was full of great presentations and workshops that included Adobe, Nikon, Canon, Moose Peterson and Dave Black. We were able to catch Adobe’s presentation and demonstration of the new Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 Beta. Don’t forget to download your free trial!

Our CEO, Elena Flanagan- Eister had some fun with Adobe’s Project Manager, Jeffrey Tranberry over Twitter and bonded over their mutual admiration for “Grumpy Cat”.

Creativity was truly in the air during this show. Here is another workshop entitled “On Location Wedding Shoot “ with David Ziser. There was a live model present giving the photographers the opportunity to test out new techniques.

Orlando is a great tourists destination and we had to take advantage of the time we had here. We were able to enjoy sunny 80-degree weather, a much needed change from our headquarters in New York City. We were even invited to see a live modern dance presentation at a venue called DRIP. This venue attracts local artists and takes place in a warehouse. If you are looking for a dive bar mixed with live entertainment, this will be your ultimate spot. However, BEWARE, you will get dirty with sand, paint and colored beer.

Overall, our week at Photoshop World has been a great success. We were able to meet some very talented photographers, web developers and graphic designers that we hope will contribute to the Depositphotos collection in the near future.

Understanding that the modern media requires the highly dynamic delivery of visual content, Depositphotos makes a daring attempt to rethink and adapt the methods of generating and using visual products. It took more than two years to develop the Clashot project, and this work resulted in a multifunctional platform for editorial photographers, both professional and amateur.
Clashot is intended to be a starting point for a brand new approach to editorial photography, empowering any smartphone user to represent himself as a professional photojournalist and submit photographs for sale in the shortest possible time.

They can be found, reviewed and acquired by news agencies, website owners and publishing houses from all over the world. Photojournalists/contributors will receive commissions for every photograph sold. Creating an independent platform for selling mobile content is among Depositphotos’ plans for the future development of Clashot.

1. Licenses

You might have noticed that we have significantly modified the License Agreement. The core of the document is still pretty much the same, though; the agreement explains the differences between the Extended and the Standard Licenses in a comprehensive way. We hope that now it’s much easier to understand how all this licensing business works. We’ve also added a comparison of the various possible ways you can use files purchased under the Standard or Extended Licenses. We encourage all buyers to check this table if they aren’t sure which license they need. We also invite our users to send suggestions regarding possible ways of using files which are not mentioned in the comparison. Our goal is to create an explanatory guideline that would be helpful in any situation.

Besides, we are going to make it possible to use the Extended License to purchase any file available at the website, so it will be easier for buyers to find exactly what they need; while at the same time, giving all the contributors an opportunity to boost their sales and, consequently, their level of earnings. Please note that the price of the Extended License is now $80.

2. New Content Editor

Another important new feature streamlines the attribution process at Depositphotos. We are trying hard to simplify the file uploading to the fullest extent; therefore, we’re introducing some new functionality for bulk attribution. With the new Content Editor, you’ll be able to attribute as many files as you need. Just select the necessary files and add their attributes, and they’re all updated simultaneously. Also, you are now able to display as many as 200 uploads per page for attributing.

Moreover, our brand new Release Manager allows contributors to add important information about models, such as race, age, or gender; giving buyers an opportunity to more easily find images featuring the type of model they are looking for. Contributors: Please add this data to the model releases you uploaded previously: it will make it easier for buyers looking for specific model types to find (and buy!) your files.

At the moment, we are also testing the spell-checking functionality, so that all users will be able to attribute their files with correctly spelled keywords and descriptions.

3. Subscription Upgrade

Attention Depositphotos buyers who prefer to download stock images by subscription! From now on you, don’t have to purchase several different subscription plans if your need for images changes. We offer you an opportunity to upgrade your current subscription plan to whatever extent you require. Besides, we offer custom solutions; please contact our support team in order to learn more.

4. Upcoming Account Mergers The most important modification is yet to come: we are doing our best to merge the functionality of the contributors’ and buyers’ accounts, so it will be even easier to make the most of the Depositphotos website. Stay tuned for more information!
