Today is the big day for Facebook as it heads for the NASDAQ. Statista have put everything into perspective with a snapshot of the biggest players in tech at the time of their IPO: Facebook,  Google, Amazon, Microsoft and Apple. When stacked beside other tech giants, Facebook’s value/revenue gap does not seem as large, proportionally speaking. The handy chart also adjusts dollars for inflation for easy comparison.

The most talked about IPO hits the NASDAQ this Friday ( 18 May 2012). The Facebook IPO is looking to make at least 1000 of its 3000 plus Employees millionaires. According to the Infographic created by the team at mbaonline.com, there are over 900 million registered users on Facebook which means each Facebook user is worth about $100.00.

Facebook has announced that it will be selling an extra 50.6 million shares, at a price likely to fall between $34 and $38 per share,reports TechCrunch . That should snag them at least another $13.1 billion—and probably push their final valuation north of the expected $100 billion.

In recent years, online universities have opened many doors for individuals from a variety of backgrounds who may not have otherwise been able to pursue further education. Across the globe, this is fueled in large part by the increasing availability of high speed Internet access. While there are still some areas that have lower Internet penetration rates and slower data speeds, which may prevent them from fully accessing multimedia content, individuals from developed and developing countries alike are flocking to online education. LONDON CALLING

With 2012 kicking into high gear, so does Derek “TheBandit” Richardson. It’s been four years since Richardson packed up his technology, decks and record boxes and flew north from South Africa to begin the next exciting chapter in his multi-media entertainment life. Today “TheBandit” is happily ensconced on the Isle of Man, where, between producing multiple podcasts, spinning decks and configuring corporate media strategies, he can be can heard on 3FM (www.three.fm).

Will the DVD die off like the LaserDisc and VHS Tape before it? There’s a compelling case that streaming video is killing its predecessors. This year, it is estimated, there will be 3.4 billion movie views online, compared with 2.4 billion disc views.
