Glide & Swerve, aka Ivan and Simon, began life in Hong Kong as a production outfit and promoters of the
island’s most infamous parties (often 2 day affairs which attracted international travelers, ex-pats,
and Hong Kong Chinese alike). In addition to the DJs they’d fly in, Glide & Swerve would perform live
alongside several vocalists, occasional dance troops, musicians, and a video artist who would create
live backdrops on a 40 foot canvas behind the band.
 
Upon returning to the UK, G&S began working on their own material and remixes for other artists.
They released tracks and mixes for the likes of Pacha, Seamless, and 852, before recently signing with
top indie imprint, Gung-Ho! Recordings, the home of The Japanese Popstars, Burn The Negative, Zoo Brazil,
Petter & The Pix, Gus Gus, and more.
 
If electro pop is the current sound of Saturday night Britain, then ‘Bring Back Love’ is the soundtrack
to a Sunday afternoon spent in ‘recovery’. Forthcoming single, ‘And I Smile’, is one of the album’s vocal
tracks, and is currently being played by specialist radio shows including that of French whiz, Laurent Garnier.
 
Elsewhere, the album crosses downtempo beats (‘Inner Dub’), with dub (‘Falling’ and ‘The Journey Back’),
quirky lounge (‘The Last Stand Of Mr Dann’), and psychedelic breakbeat (‘Here & Now’). Soundtrack-style moments
such as ‘Lara’s Song’, sit neatly with the broken rhythms of ‘Feel It’, while tracks such as ‘Pure’ and
‘This Is Yours’ show Glide & Swerve can also take the tempo up a notch with ease.

DIGIFEST aka William Gets

Always been interested in music, was playing the piano when 6 years old Never quite directed my life to music, even though very passionate about it. Something always got in the way had a crasy life studying as a game ranger, working in the bush, getting married, back packing round the world fo 3 years came back to SA, again, instead of starting music I went into graphic design (gotta put bread on the table) ending up starting brainstorm advertising This company is taking up 80% of my energy but is giving me the resources to follow my dream of doing music have been able to buy equipment and put on events etc.

Done some great events in the trance market of Cape town (digifest.co.za has got all the pics) have written one trance CD (or coolection of songs to made availabel over the internet) called Soul Trance which is due for release as soon as I can get the gap to sound engineer the compostion properly, the songs given for this podcast are part of this first CD. I have tried to write dark aggressie music but I always end up writing uplifting trance.
People have said that my music is so uplifting that they don't need to take drugs! So I have a bit of an angle where I challenge pepole to dance naturally and really trance hard until you reach that natural euphoria of sound synchronised sound and body movement When wife got pregnant I Got approached by feelgoodhealth.co.za to write a meditation CD directed towards mothers and babies. CD is called Rocking Chair and is available at feelgoodhealth.co.za. That was a very interesting journey of writing totally peaceful, slow, meditation, ambient music in comparison to making it as fast and lively as possible. Am writing new trance music now.

Working on two tunes at the moment, one for my daughter Amber a nd one called Afrika. These tunes will be heard live for the first time at our gig on 18 August. GOnna do some stunning decor, digifest and brainstorm is well known for our decor, so people are not only going to
feel great from they music that you and I are going to play but the decor itself is gonna be uplifting!

ALIENATION - Starchildren

 

Alienation.  Nothing to do with an alien race, but rather with feeling “out of place? … The daunting perception that you are part of a dying breed of kindred spirits and that there are few on this planet that truly understand you.  You feel alienated. The people, the like-minded ones, the ones you share a special connection with, are the alienation...

Blessed with an overactive imagination, I walk with my feet on the ground and my mind in another universe... composing songs starts with a feeling or a visual and I share these visuals in the form of a preamble to every track.  Trance music is a spiritual experience for most.  You rarely find meaningful words to dance tracks but somehow you sense emotion; reminiscent of some weird musical telepathy... where a DJ or producer speaks to you without saying anything.  Everything you mentally envision makes a sound and leaves an impression... and that’s what I have hoped to capture in music.

Sunrise...   Like a giant crayon it colours a darkened world. bright armies of light burst through clouds, deploying the lowest frequencies first... red light... then orange... then yellow...  until pure white light pours over every planet in its orbit… millions or rays bouncing off reflective objects, all purposefully working in unity to produce light, warmth and life.

Imagine... somewhere remote... somewhere where city lights and pollution cannot cloud your ability to marvel at the sheer brilliance of the Milky Way...  You lie flat on your back on soft grass.  With a clear open sky above, you stare intensely at the infinite heavens above... so intense you feel you can pluck one of the tiny specs of light with your fingers... and hold it in your palm like a firefly. And if you waved your hand you would shatter the peace... Millions of tiny lights would fly away like sparks...  you realise that they’re not tiny at all. In fact, they are huge! Actually, some of them are no longer even there… some, purely light echoes; the memory of great suns that lost their brilliance and died tragically.  But imagine if, right now, on one of those tiny specs of light, there is someone lying flat on his back on soft grass, holding you in the palm of his hand like a firefly...

Heaven…  A totally unexplored travel destination and yet desired by all.  What does heaven mean to you?  Are the streets paved with gold and scattered with precious stones? Do wild and tame animals live in perfect harmony?  Is there singing, praising and glorifying the Creator?  Your life, the ultimate price for that eternal stay.

Before the dawn of the electronic era, tribes connected using music, dance and expression.  a beautiful girl, shy of seventeen with long  flowing hair twists and turns to the most unusual dance her tribe has ever seen.  She is moving to the low humming of the tribe.  There is clapping... drums follow and her movements intensify...  a strange mix of fire and moonlight ignites the ancient almost phosphorescent markings on her body.  her movements accelerate, faster and faster as more tribesmen join in with different instruments...  the music echoes through the valleys below, bouncing off rock walls into the forest below.  from a distance, all that is visible are slow-shutter movements of white neon light drawing butterfly-like images in mid air...  she’s dancing the dream dance... ethereal and enchanting.
