Something new popped up over at Funko's Blog called Pop! Pocket Tins. They are metal tins with three miniature Pops! inside and the first set happens to have our favorite pony alongside Rainbow Dash and Discord.

No word on retail, but the MLP set goes on sale in January 2015.

Ultra Pro Derpy Deck Box and Sleeves

Over on their website, Ultra Pro has posted a Derpy Deck Box with matching sleeves, probably to compliment the new set coming out. I haven't mentioned Ultra Pro before, but they are basically the go-to in card game supplies. They will be up for preorder soon.

As a short first impression I am not impressed with the design. That red/orange is really ugly. Would've preferred blue or gray, or even yellow... :/ Still, these are a must buy for me.

We've been a little flooded with Derpy lately. I'm so sorry I have had family emergencies and a change of employment, so things were hectic for awhile.

The plush I previously reported over at Hot Topic is by Aurora, by the way. I snagged her with some Hot Cash and couldn't be happier! She's only $9.99, so go get her!

Now, Enterplay announced a few days ago, a Derpy deck box, similar to previous ones. It appears to include yet another version (nonfoil) of Mailmare, a poster of the previously released playmat, a sticker, and some card packs.. and well, of course the box!

(Also, side note: Speaking of the Mailmare card, I was super disappointed to find mine was foil, but the unstamped version... Thanks Enterplay, I guess? Anyway, the stamped one is hovering around $150, so I'll wait to it drops to $60 in a year or so like the others have...)

These new, tiny plush appeared over at Hot Topic. Not sure on the maker or price, but my guess is in the 11.99 range, probably. Derpy is wall-eyed, as Hot Topic tends to be accurate. Can't wait to add this one to the collection!

Derpy Matt / Baltimare Exclusive Card! on Enterplay's Shop Flash Sale

As you all know, I'm not a fan of Enterplay's flash sales... but yesterday they had the Derpy card/matt promo from Bronycon and it may be up later today. Project Thundercloud II: Shadowbox Fan Episode

Derpy Bird appears as cameo in The Littlest Petshop (LPS)

A... rather unusual post today. I'm a little late hopping on this, but better late than never! Derpy has appeared in bird form in HUB's other show "Littlest Pet Shop".

I was a huge LPS fan as a kid. My Mom bought my all the toys. I think the new toys are horrible and the show is basically a MLP rip off, BUT, this was noteworthy and needed a share.

Derpy's Scrapbook: Reviews!

All of my items feature Derpy in some way, but occasionally I will do a random pony that I was really interested in. I wanted to review this so people could be better informed of a nearly duplicate product.

My scoring system is based on Muffins, 1 being the lowest, and 5 being the highest. I look at Packaging, Detail, Quality, Fun, and Rarity.

Read my review below the cut!

Packing: When I obtained this, it was packed in a box to avoid breakage, but that could've been due to the third party seller I got it from. The ornament itself is packed in a plastic bag, airtight. Nothing fancy here.

Detail: The detail is identical to the Hot Topic Christmas Lights. It IS the exact same mold to a tee. So, it's a lovely stand-alone, but still suffers from the bad paint job on the hair. The cutie mark is excellent, but only on one side. The eyes were printed well and accurate.

Quality: Worth the $12? Well, it did come with Dr. Hooves as well... so let's say $6? Sure. Especially if you wanted to own one of the "lights" without having to buy the set. This will look cute on any Christmas tree by far. If you already own the lights, though, I don't reccomend this product.

Fun: There's a lot of fun with this product. Maybe you just want a Derpy ornament to go with your other MLP goodies. She also makes a good standalone figure, but I don't reccomend her for play with kids... she's hollow and chips/breaks fairly easily. Normal handling is fine. She would be great for any bait/custom work, too.

Rarity: I have never seen this item advertized. I don't think it's been mentioned on Equestria Daily, either. I would say it's fairly rare, especially because I CANNOT confirm that's its officially licensed without consulting Hasbro directly.

The hangtag included does include the "liscensed by Hasbro" mark, it uses the same mold as the HT lights, but... it's just so reused and cheap looking that I can't garuntee it's officialism.

SDCC 2014 Reveal: Soon

I have no hopes for a Derpy exclusive this year, but she is on the ad for their "coming soon reveal".

We've almost confirmed a large, black DJ-Pon3 and "athletic pony" for Funko... Some think that the recent white FS Celestia on Taobao is the exclusive for Hasbro. I know we've all wanted an Equestria Girls Derpy for some time and most out there think that it will be an EG+Pony combination.

Your thoughts?

Breaking News from 4DE: Derpy Plush coming

Thanks to Previews World and Equestria Daily, we now know that 4DE has announced a huge number of plush! Derpy is one of them. I'm completely in love with her wings and it's no doubt her cutie mark and wall eyes will be in-tact.

She's 11" and will retail for $24.99! No release date or place for pre-order yet, but there's a good chance Toywiz will have them soon!

New Derpy ornament added!

Hey all.

Came across these interesting ornaments on Ebay. The listing says they are officially liscensed and I found the website listing here.

They are about 3" and the retail on Ebay is 12.98 with free shipping!

They aren't availible on the website (no price listed either) and when using the search function, nowhere near me carried them. No clue how long these have been out or the legitimacy to them, but they appear to be good quality and would look nice with the lights set Hot Topic sold this past year.

They still have 11 left at the time of posting! Might be worth picking up in this merchandise drought.

More details regarding the Derpy Mane CCG Card

Thanks to our kind Trevor over at Hey Cantlerlot! on Facebook, I'm speculating about the new Derpy Mane (+others?) based on his comments. What do you guys think? I've listed some popular opinions, too!

Hints:

"There isn't going to be a card named that. ... fans move on from the name and just assume that name isn't going to be on official products..."
"...some people just don't want to name her at all..."
"Obviously when she makes an appearance in the game she'll start to quickly get some character cards..."
"...Friday was a pretty big hint as to which set that character will show up."
"Not every character can be contained into one color."
"...assuming you're okay with her having a different name than she goes by in the fandom."

Confirmed:

"Derpy will NOT be her listed name.

Personally, I'm cool with this! As long as we get her in some form with her physical presence unaltered, I'm fine. Judging by their past work, Enterplay never fails to deliver!

My speculations:

Derpy will be a part of the Discord set.
Derpy will vary in color (she's already been Blue and Yellow). This would fit with the Discord set because I feel that the Mane Six won't be locked to their colors so they can fit with the "chaos" theme.
There will be a few Derpy "mane" cards, one possibly a promotional/ultra rare, and also other cards featuring her.
Her name will probably be references to all of her names and based more on her abilities or fandom quirks like "Mailmare".

Other speculations:

A new color associated soley for Derpy?
Ditsy Doo / Muffins will be used for the name
Enterplay may continue the use of her name on Collector Cards

Derpy CCG Mane coming...? Possibly.

Thanks to Derpy News, we now know that Enterplay has announced the possibility of a Derpy Mane card for the My Little Pony: Collectible Card Game. There was no confirmation exactly, but the executive was talking in front of a picture of Derpy and were quoted with: “two sets this year”, “Derpy”, “DJ Pon-3 and Maud Pie manes" from their interview at Big Apple Ponycon!

No word on the color for the card.

I hope this means we will be getting card sleeves and deck boxes soon, too!

Also, let's all pray she isn't a "limited" release.

Merchandise Hunt

Just wanted to share my local hunt for the two newest Derpy items: the Uncommon from the Canterlot Nights expansion and the 3-Pack Soaring Pegasus set.

Also, coming soon is an interview with a "local" sculptor (local = MLP Arena) who made a fantastic Derpy sculpture a few weeks back. Also, I noticed there's a sculptor out there known specifically for her Derpy works and I'd like to get that interview as well for you guys.

I'm sure some of you have niether of these, but they should be all over Walmarts soon. As of this writing, CN (Canterlot Nights) has only been out 48 hours.

I did manage to snag some packs yesterday at my closest Walmart:

However, going back today and after checking 3 other Walmarts in my area they were nowhere to be found and said Walmart was SOLD OUT.

Aside appearing as a card, Derpy also appears on the packaging for the booster box, cardboard sleeve, and foil packaging:

Now, let me move onto the Soaring Pegasus 3-Pack. It's only just now arriving in stores, namely, again, Walmart. I hate Walmart, but at least it's better than Hot Topic... Anyway, I did manage to find one locally, but the section had been wiped out and the paint job was worse on the actual product than BOTH of my prototypes! I wasn't going to pay $15 that I thought they were charging (Actual Price: $9.98... but still) I know the quality control isn't perfect, but I'd rather stick it out for something I'm leaving mint in package. :)

Also, if you get the opposite set that Soaring Pegasus is shipped with, this appears on the package:

She's still only "Muffin" but I can confirm the packaging and figure are accurate!

Ebay find: Custom Derpy sculpt

I noticed this was gaining a bit of attention!

This cute Derpy sculpt is made by sonicrainboom (99.5 % feedback). It's made of resin and hand painted. The craftmanship is very good, but if you already own the Funko, I'm not seeing the appeal. Nonetheless, it has two days left on the auction as is currently at $31.00 USD.

Canterlot Nights New Derpy Card; 4DE, SDCC 2014 Possibilities

Hey all!
I hope you all enjoyed the finale of Season 4. Poor Derpy getting her power taken away! :( Were you all as sad as I was?! (Off topic, but I enjoyed the G1 throwbacks which makes the Rainbow Power thing at least TOLERABLE. I am not a fan of Equestria Girls, so I can't speak for my thoughts on the new movie or spin off series... but trust me, there will be Derpy in the background and I'll be there to talk about it!)
Anyway, there's been a lot of stuff going on in the Ponyverse, so I wanted to discuss some possibilities of more Derpy merchandise to come in the Summer and more likely, Fall.
Canterlot Nights, the second expansion for the TCG, is coming out this weekend. Some people are already obtaining promo items, but as of yet I see no Derpy. There is a partial card list, but I haven't made my way through the availible pictures for any sightings or references. ~~Will update when I do, though!~~ Thanks to a user on the TCG Facebook group, I was informed of this Event Card:

Also, most of you know that SDCC 2014 is around the corner. Hasbro is always late announcing their exclusives. Some of you know I'm a lover of Bon Bon and her Funko Glitter was just confirmed. There is pretty much confirmation of more than one pony being the exclusive this year.
A lot of you seem to think there may be an Equestria Girls / Pony combo. Some have speculated that this will be our favorite muffin pony, but I find that a bit unlikely. She has already had a standard brushable release, so it seems a bit redundant. Maybe if it was just the doll, but I dislike Derpy exclusives because they are difficult to get a hold of (although I've had good luck by being vigilant, outside prototypes). Also, this would be more bad fanservice to the loyal G1 fans, who collect the toys for PONIES, not a poorly executed doll line. (Yes, EGD are more horrible than the movies, in my opinion... They usually aren't even posable!) I could also go into a tirade about many disappointments with the brushables as a line, but that isn't what this blog is about. We're talking Derpy here. Do you think she will be an exclusive AGAIN?
Finally, I want to discuss 4DE. Some of you may have snagged the Derpy Funrise plush over the Easter holiday. This was distributed in Walmart in a completely uncensored format! As I stated back in December, Derpy is coming back strong in the show and toy line! With the recent announcement of fan favorites Dr. Hooves (Whooves?) and Luna (Moonbutt), surely a Derpy 4DE is on the way.
In fact, some speculate that the amazing bootleg plushes found on Ebay in droves (which I do have the Derpy of and am DYING to get Shining Armor), may be based on prototypes for the 4DE line of plush.
I am sorry about the delay for my video review debut (wow) but I am having severe problems finding a proper video editor / uploader for my Youtube channel that's free, because Movie Maker takes forever and crashes all the time. I may just try to upload straight from my phone, because I did get the #i9 dogtag/binder from Enterplay and would love to review it alongside the tunnel earrings. If that doesn't work out, there will always be my written reviews.

Returning from haitus + hand made Derpy cel

After a long haitus for my move, I'm finally back. We missed quite a bit of news during the break and several episode appearances. To sum up everything:

My Little Pony LIFE confirmed, still unclear if it includes the Derpy figure, but its availible for preorder on ToyWiz
First EVER OFFICIAL plush was released in the awkward looking Funrise set. It's the smaller size, so we may see the other larger size down the road. She was exclusive to Walmart during the Easter break.
Enterplay has delayed the shipping of the Dog Tag binder with the Derpy tags. As a result, the tags prices have dropped on Ebay. Enterplay's last official word was 4/22, but as of yet I haven't got any confirmation.
The Soaring Pegasus set hit stores, but I personally have not seen it in my area. Since I got the figure off Ebay beforehand, I probably won't be picking this one up.

Now, before I get to my big surprise, I will say there is a schedule change. I will only be able to update on Saturdays, possibly Tuesdays and on days when there is major news IF I have time. Still, Saturday will be consistent! Expect reviews weekly as well as tutorial videos and review videos on my soon-to-come Youtube channel.

Now, to the surprise...

I've been working on my own Derpy animation cel. I plan to sell these on Ebay once I refine my skills a little more. Really, this one was a rush job and just meant to destress me (I had so many family troubles during the move making a week long venture a month long issue). So, any that will be sold will include a copy of the original sketch, the actual one-of-a-kind cel, a certificate, and a printed out background to match.

For those from the current era (post2000s), animation shows like the original 2 MLP series (Classic and Tales) used cel animation. A second of animation takes 24 cels! They are hand-drawn and hand painted. I will hand it to the FiM animators, for flash it looks good, although it did originally turn me away from this show, they've done some amazing work, especially in this most recent season. Being in the huge minority and loving Tales among other great animations (Don Bluth, Last Unicorn, Sailor Moon, Gainax), I love to make cels in my spare time, even of my own work. This is my second cel ever and as stated before a rush job which required a huge section to be repainted (see, her second wing is big because I erased my original line lol).. so the cel is a bit dirty and scratched. I was also experimenting with putting the ink lines on the back of the cel, but I don't prefer this. Will be doing all on the front from now on. If you're wondering about the blank spot, here is the scene in question from the original show, which will also explain the lack of vector lines:

You really need to decide on what you want to draw. Once you do, sketch it out. I had to eyeball so there is some inconsistency, but this was also a test. I plan to make my future cels by sketching from a print-out. ;)

Gather your supplies.
You will need a pencil, India Ink (either via hand pen or ink pen), acrylic paint (I've read Liquitex can melt your cel, please don't skimp on paint.. or if you can, get Cartoon Colour Cel-Vinyl Paint).
I got mine at Hobby Lobby for $30 without any coupons. This included an extra tube for other projects. I already had a ton of brushes, but you will definetly need a very fine brush and not the cheap preschool brushes, they will let loose brush hairs in your paint-- not fun!
If you make errors while painting, you'll need to wait until it dries to scrape it off gently (I didn't and my cel ended up a little scratched...). Or, if it is a tiny error, you can just wipe it away with a damp Q-Tip. I had a roll of paper towels, some water, and a paint smoother handy for this. Don't worry if you "go outside the lines", it's usually an easy fix. I also was very heavy with my paint application. It's really better to do several thin coats to get a smooth and thick look. In fact, animators usually worked on several cels so one could dry while the other was being worked on. I live in a humid area and it took about five hours to dry with the heavy paint.
You also will need either Dura-Lar sheets/rolls or projector transfer sheets (all acetate). Moisture resistant and acid free is reccomended.
Finally, you may want to frame it. I got my frame from Walmart for $8.
Another tip: Unlike normal painting, you should try to go from darkest to light during the painting process.
Finally, if you can invest in a light box: do it. I don't have one yet and my finished rushed cel wasn't very dark in places like the eyes and hair. Of course, the lighter color yellow was very difficult.

After you have your sketch done, you will need to trace it onto the acetate. You will need to secure it with some form of tape. Don't use packing or duck tape. I used electrical tape, but painter's tape it best. If you mess up, you can use a Q-Tip to gently wipe away and redraw a line.
I'm right handed so I work from left to right to avoid smudging. You may also want to invest in a anti-smudging glove (I forget the name, I think theyre made of cotton?)

The trick is to paint in dabs (from dark to light), also test your paint on a spare sheet to see how it dries. This way, when you hold it up, it isn't see through and you'll know it will dry to the correct color you want. This may take a few coats or a thicker layer.

Painting is the most tedious part of the process.

Just be patient, maybe even do this over the course of a few days. If you mix paint, save extra or have some re-liquifier on hand for the paint. Try not to have to remix paint colors. It is next to impossible to get them to match unless you're measuring and remembering the order you added them.

However, when it's done, it will look amazing! Leave comments below if you have any questions! Again, once I perfect these, I will be selling them online! Or, hopefully with this tutorial, you can make your own! :)

Haitus almost over, let's celebrate with the Funrise Derpy plush!

Sorry again all. My life has had a series of traumatic events going on as well as a complicated move, so I am still on haitus until May. Expect regular updates again then!

However, I felt this was very signifigant. Derpy has become more mainstream as we go and this plush by Funrise should be availible around the Easter holiday at Walmart, and possibly Target. No word on the sizes, but I'm expecting this is the smaller variant.

Oh, and she's wall eyed! :)
