On your profile for a social networking site or a dating site you could photoshop your picture to make you look better then you actually do. Or you could put false information in your profile to attract certain people. If your on a dating website and you either have a picture that doesn't look like you or you lie in your profile and pretend to be someone that your not the outcome could be interesting. If you go to meet the person that you met over the internet in real life and they realize that your not the type of person that you said you were there could be different outcomes. The person could either be angry that you lied about being someone your not and leave. They could also be happy with the outcome of the situation by finding out that you may be better then you falsely described yourself in your profile. I think the best way to avoid these situations is to just be yourself and don't like to make yourself seem better then you are and you wont have to worry about the person being surprised with what they see you as.

Living Facebook Day 5

Facebook is becoming easier and easier to live without. I have asked a couple of people to be my friends in person and its so much different. Mostly everyone in this school has a Facebook or an experience with social networking. They all expect to become friends with a request. When I asked those people to be my friends shocked kind of look was on their face. I am going to sign on Facebook tomorrow just to see what's happening. Not everyone walks around and says what is on their mind. The next search result was blog and the URL to access it. Also in the description it shows part of my last blog post. The next search result was my twitter. It also gives the searchers an option to sign up for twitter or follow me. It is very important that you can keep a clean image on the internet. Most employers will look at your Facebook wall or search your name on a web browser to see what you have been doing and if you are a good citizen. Whatever you post on the internet stays there forever. In that ten seconds you decide to post something on the internet someone can take a screen shot of it, and it will be there forever.

Living Facebook Day 2

Throughout this experience I have realized that live without Facebook is relatively easy. It is just as easy to do the things you do on Facebook in real life. I think more people should start doing what they do on Facebook in real life. Most people might think that Facebook and asking someone to be your friend off the computer is different but it's really not. You are doing the exact same thing except one of them requires technology. I believe that asking to be someones friend in person would supply a better friendship because you can see what the person is like. The only reason I would miss using Facebook is that people don't spread as much information and news in person as it is on Facebook. Facebook is basically where every high school student goes to say what is on their mind or where they go to spread drama that they can't say in person.

Living Facebook Day 1

What was your first morning like without Facebook?
-There really wasn't any difference without Facebook. To go out and public and do the things you usually do while sitting behind a computer will be very different. Some people might have different reactions in person then they do while behind the screen. One week without face book will be both easy and hard to do with out. It will be easy because a teenagers face book mostly consists of drama and worthless statuses. On the other end it will be hard because that is where I go most of the time to find out news about our town. Like how our sports teams are doing or when the next game is. I find it very impressive that students can make their own school by themselves and learn material and find it interesting. I am also surprised by the fact that the school's faculty let them do this. I would expect that the faculty just thought of it as a way for to students to get out of class. What surprised me the most is the fact that the students said they learned more with the Independent Project, and not being in class. With the Independent Project students were allowed to learn what they thought was necessary for their career and later life. They were also allowed to express themselves through what they learned. I think every school should have the opportunity to do what these students did to see if they have the same outcome. I hope to hear more about this Project, and hopefully other schools will get involved so we can receive a change in our learning technologies.

InfoWhelm

I think this video was a very good example of how much information is out there. It shows that there is so much knowledge and information on the web and other media devices, but in a lifetime we wont be able to use or understand most of it. Technology is becoming so advanced and I think that our education should revolve around it. We should use different tools to show our teachers what we learned instead of cramming and putting it on paper. Our education should also focus on what we are going to have to know to get through life. The video shows a very good point that most college students spend hundreds of dollars on textbooks every semester, and they can count how many times they've opened it on one hand. I like this video alot because it makes a very good point from different prespectives.
