Un motor térmico de 600 CV y tres eléctricos para ofrecer la friolera de 1.700 CV y hasta 3.500 Nm de par. Ese es el secreto del Gemera que ofrece, además, una autonomía en modo eléctrico de 50 km. Un auténtico hypercar… pero con cuatro plazas, que lo diferencia de todos los demás. Acceso a través de dos puertas laterales en ala de gaviota, que deja el habitáculo completamente accesible y al descubierto. Fibra de carbono total, para limitar el peso a 1.850 kg. ¿Precio? Los clientes de los 300 Koenigsegg Gemera seguro que no se preocuparan demasiado por el mismo si tienen decidido comprarlo, más de uno ni siquiera preguntará por este ‘nimio detalle’ más que en el momento de efectuar la correspondiente transferencia para formalizar la adquisición.

Como todos los Koenigsegg, el Gemera (Ge Mera, o más lejos) es algo excepcional, pero lo importante está dentro. No, no son los dos motores eléctricos de 500 CV, actuando cada uno sobre una de las ruedas posteriores. Tampoco por el motor eléctrico de 400 CV que va acoplado al cigüeñal del motor térmico. Lo digo por el térmico.

Estamos ante un motor térmico de 600 CV… pero sólo con tres cilindros. Un dos litros biturbo de 3 cilindros…. que además no es un 12 válvulas sino un “free valves”, es decir de válvulas libres. Y además funciona tanto como 4 tiempos convencional como respondiendo al ciclo Miller, el que Toyota y otros constructores ha adoptado para sus motores hibridos. Por si fuera poco es, además, multicombustible, aunque esto no es una novedad en la marca sueca.

Es un tan potente como un V8, incluso un V8 sobrealimentado por dos turbos, pero infinitamente más pequeño y ligero: sólo pesa 70 kg. y tiene el tamaño de una maleta trolley de viaje. No cabe duda de su nombre, el del propulsor, TFG (Gigante pequeño amigo) le viene al dedillo. El sistema Freevalve es un sistema patentado por Koenigsegg, que este constructor sueco viene desarrollado desde hace mucho tiempo. No quiere decir libre de válvulas, sino válvulas libres.

Cada válvula está controlada electrónicamente -hay un sistema electro-hidráulico-neumático que la acciona- y hay un control independiente para las de admisión y de escape, de forma que los momentos de apertura, la duración de la misma y la elevación de la válvula pueden variar en función de lo que solicite el conductor en cada momento. Es más, es posible abrir una sóla válvula de admisión o escape y mantener cerrada la otra cuando circulamos a bajo régimen.

Es una tecnología que inicialmente fue presentada en abril de 2016, con un motor de 4 cilindros, realizado para la empresa china Qoros, que presentó su primer automóvil ya equipado con este motor, aunque después la marca no ha llegado a comercializarse. Este nuevo tres cilindros es una evolución de la tecnología y adoptando el doble turbo.

La unidad de control decide si se prima el rendimiento, si se busca minimizar el consumo o si hay que ajustar las emisiones. Los parámetros a combinar son tan grandes, las posibilidades son tantas, que Koenigsegg recurre a la Inteligencia Artificial para ello, trabajando con una de las empresas líderes en AI, SparkCognition.

Este sistema proporciona un mayor control sobre el rendimiento del motor y permite reducir el consumo entre un 15 y un 20% respecto a un motor 2 litros turbo de inyección directa y con distribución variable.

Una de sus ventajas es que permite desactivar los cilindros de una forma muy sencilla y puede tener una relación de compresión de 9,5 pese a su sistema de doble turbo, que funciona por etapas. Y además se ha trabajado para reducir de forma espectacular la contaminación en frío, el importante pico de emisiones que se da al arrancar en los primeros instantes, con el motor aún frío; Koenigsegg afirma que las emisiones en estos primeros 20 segundos de funcionamiento de un motor se reducen en un 60%.

Puede funcionar con gasolina, con alcohol y con combustible E85. El alcohol cuesta más de vaporizar, pero tiene un octanaje mayor que la gasolina.

El Freevalve permite asimismo un curioso funcionamiento del sistema de doble turbo. Un turbo está conectado a 3 válvulas de escape y el otro, a las otras tres. En condiciones de baja exigencia de potencia sólo se abre una válvula por cilindro y sólo actúa un turbo y cuando se requiere más potencia, entran en funcionamiento las segundas válvulas de escape y el segundo turbo.

El resultado es un motor de 3 cilindros y dos litros, doble turbo, que es capaz de darnos 600 CV y un par de 400 Nm a sólo 1.700 rpm, alcanzado un máximo de 600 Nm… ¡entre 2.000 y 7.000 rpm!.

This is a paragraph. It should not have any alignment of any kind. It should just flow like you would normally expect. Nothing fancy. Just straight up text, free flowing, with love. Completely neutral and not picking a side or sitting on the fence. It just is. It just freaking is. It likes where it is. It does not feel compelled to pick a side. Leave him be. It will just be better that way. Trust me.

Left Align

This is a paragraph. It is left aligned. Because of this, it is a bit more liberal in it’s views. It’s favorite color is green. Left align tends to be more eco-friendly, but it provides no concrete evidence that it really is. Even though it likes share the wealth evenly, it leaves the equal distribution up to justified alignment.

Center Align

This is a paragraph. It is center aligned. Center is, but nature, a fence sitter. A flip flopper. It has a difficult time making up its mind. It wants to pick a side. Really, it does. It has the best intentions, but it tends to complicate matters more than help. The best you can do is try to win it over and hope for the best. I hear center align does take bribes.

Right Align

This is a paragraph. It is right aligned. It is a bit more conservative in it’s views. It’s prefers to not be told what to do or how to do it. Right align totally owns a slew of guns and loves to head to the range for some practice. Which is cool and all. I mean, it’s a pretty good shot from at least four or five football fields away. Dead on. So boss.

Justify Align

This is a paragraph. It is justify aligned. It gets really mad when people associate it with Justin Timberlake. Typically, justified is pretty straight laced. It likes everything to be in it’s place and not all cattywampus like the rest of the aligns. I am not saying that makes it better than the rest of the aligns, but it does tend to put off more of an elitist attitude.
