Where? Exactly.

It’s always fun discovering little places you’ve never experienced in a state you’ve lived in for most of your life. Brownsville is a little pioneer town nestled just a few miles off of I-5, 2o minutes northeast of Eugene. A few of the major draws are the Linn County Historical Museum, which houses one of the largest collections of Oregon historical artifacts, the Moyer House, an elegant Italianate home built in 1881 by influential figures in the Brownsville community, and the filming of Stand By Me, for which you can take a walking tour to experience scenes from the movie first hand.

It’s one of the most darling, friendliest little towns I’ve ever visited. I also enjoyed my very first B&B experience at the Brownsville House. It’s a charming 1920s Bungalow, owned by Cyndi and Bob Anderson, that sits on an acre of land along with a barnyard, orchards, gardens, pond and patios. They’re critter lovers so you’ll find chickens, doves, bunnies, cats and pups roaming around their little oasis, along with a plethora of wild birds (including turkeys!). In the summer they grow all their own produce and incorporate it into their love of cooking. I tell ya, with apple cider and maple sausage made on-site, their breakfasts are the talk of the town…I hadn’t eaten so well in a long awhile! Cyndi and Bob are the sweetest couple and made us feel just like part of the family.

On our last day there, we had the pleasure of having breakfast with town historian Joni Nelson (a fun feature of the Brownsville House Breakfast). She clued us in on the history of the town and later that day gave us a personal tour of the Moyer House.

All-in-all, a fun escape from the bustling of Portland. I’ll be honest and say my utmost favorite thing was waking up to a quiet morning, greeted by the sun shining through the bedroom window.

I had the pleasure of working with these ladies on their identity package earlier this year. The results of which were lovingly inspired by the yew tree berry. Why the yew tree you ask? In addition to its medicinal properties, the yew berry also connotes a sense of femininity, growth, and healing from the inside, outward. I love the friendly nature it possesses and how the yew relates so well with the mission, “Holistic Medicine for You.” Their patients are their focus…YOU are their focus.
