{Typeface Tuesday} Oil & Water...

... do not mix. That's the message that Anthony Burrill wanted to get across with his Oil & Water poster. It was printed using oil from the 2010 Gulf of Mexico disaster, and all proceeds went to the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana. Isn't that font wonderful? I absolutely love all of these pieces. The first votive from Crate & Barrel is just gorgeous, with that perfect bit of Moroccan flair that's so in these days. And those little baby lights from Restoration Hardware... they really do look like tiny stars.

Yes, I've seen Rue Magazine, and yes I know that it's made using Issuu.com. But did you know that you can go to Issuu.com and browse through the many MANY virtual magazines that are made on the site? Hours of free fun. The magazine shown above is a British publication called Dashing, and another fun one that I found for my bride friends is called Utterly Engaged.

White Wash

As I've said before, white can be a beautiful backdrop for highlighting certain accessories or architectural details in a room. In this case, I don't practice what I preach because I don't have a white wall in my house. But maybe when I have more than four rooms to work with, one will be white. Isn't that staircase in the second image beautiful? (And a little scary?) I'd probably fall off.

Pops of Color

It's All in the Details

These three images may seem unrelated upon first glance, but for me there is some cohesion because I am drawn to each of them for the same reason. In each photo, there is something that is used in an unusual way. The wreath in the first image is made from shells - head on over to Poppytalk to see a closeup.

In the second image, the books are covered in vellum paper. I never would have thought of it on my own, but doesn't it give the books a beautiful, milky white look? Via Spicer + Bank.

The owner of the kitchen in the third image decided to put a tribal rug in her kitchen - very unexpected, but absolutely stunning. Stop by Design*Sponge to see the rest of her home.
