Mixture is a new tool I am working on with Pete Nelson and Mike Kus. It’s basically a Mac & Windows application enabling rapid development / prototyping.

It’s a tool we’ve personally desired for sometime and so we’re building in features that improve a users work flow and enable collaboration, we have lot’s of cool ideas and plans to push the product forward.

’What we talk about when we talk about sketching’ - interesting article from the lovely folk at Adaptive Path, based on sketching for UX purposes and concept here, but it applies to anything. Limit colour palette to increase your focus on the main idea (“draw with a big stick to keep it full of energy if you have to”, my old tutor said) and evolve your own sketching practice. Just keep on doing it!

Lovely drawn notes from someone who attended Zeldman’s talk at DIBI this year - not sure of the source (this was just emailed to me) so shout up if it’s yours so I can credit you! Really like this style.

It’s a wise (and very logical) piece of advice from Zeldman & Jeremy Keith, and one we try to fight for all the damn time. I honestly don’t think clients grasp that we’re not kidding when we say the content is the most important thing. ‘Oh we’ll supply that later’ is all too common a response. The design in its entirety should work FOR and WITH the content - don’t shoehorn your content into something that’s already been decided without knowing what the content was ;)
