I came across this orange juice packaging by Dagný Lilja Snorradóttir from Spain and wanted to share. The type is so playful and I love the use of the glass container.

I was recently shopping at the grocery store and came across this new packaging for Tazo Tea. I am a big time tea fan and had always loved the traditional looking Indian Tazo Tea packaging design. I barely recognized the new packaging as Tazo. Although I like the modern look of the new packaging and the playful way they have used the ingredients I think they may have made too big a departure from their previous packaging. I am wondering if their customers may be reluctant to make the jump or worse yet may not be able to find their package when quickly scanning the shelf.

It is so interesting to see packaging design from other countries. I came across this lovely packaging design from Japan. Amazingly enough some of the same hand stamped design trends we are seeing here in the U.S.

Happy 2013! I apologize for the delay in posting as we have been off to a very busy start in this new year with a lot of exciting projects in the studio. But I am so excited to share this new book by Rizzolo Publishing on Irving Harper. Irving Harper is best known for his modernist furniture design alongside George Nelson and Herman Miller but it is his personal collection 'Works in Paper" that I find truly inspiring. I literally couldn't decide which spread to share with you here as each one was so amazing. I also wanted  to share this except from the forward because it is so wonderful and inspiring...

"Our very personal experience with Irving Harper began in 2001 with the re-edition of textile designs he had created for George Nelson fifty years earlier. We had come upon samples of these obscure textiles, and, with thanks to former longtime Herman Miller and George Nelson employee Hilda Longinotti, subsequently learned of Irving, who had spent seventeen years with Nelson and was responsible for much of the Nelson studio’s best-known work, including the Marshmallow Sofa, countless Howard Miller clocks, and the enduring 1950s-era Herman Miller logo. Irving lives near Manhattan, so I phoned him up spontaneously and was greeted by a lively eightyfour-year-old who was eager to assist. Through our collaboration, he shared his sense of having been overshadowed by Nelson and overlooked by design history. Though he never thought to try a computer, as thanks, I purchased an iMac for him in hopes of igniting his curiosity. Together we made his first trip to Google, where I typed in his name and watched his awe at the record of his accomplishments—an incredibly touching moment."

Here is a sneak peek of the new 2013 beautifully designed letterpress calendar by the talented New York based Tara Hogan of Ink + Wit. I love these letterpress calendars and I am a big fan of this years theme. Each month features a lovely illustration and a quote about peace, tranquility and silence. Something we all could use a little more of.  The prints can also be framed by cutting off the bottom when you are done with each month. I am adding this to my holiday wish list as I would love to have this series framed in my studio.

I found these cute candle and room diffuser packages by Caroline Gardner a small stationary company from the UK. The hearts are so fun and playful.

House Industries has designed the cutest graphic blocks and a nativity scene made out of wood. These blocks are so fun and well designed that you won't mind when they are strewn all around your living room and you may find yourself playing with them too. If only all my kids toys were this well designed!
