Sculpture! That is what hits you like a tidal wave when you first feast your eyes on this piece of sculpture, er, Piano. This beauty could make Michelangelo very proud. This outrageous music machine is actually a piano, and goes by the name, Schimmel Pegasus. Curves and more beautifully sculpted curves.

That is what you get in this piano, rather a piece of art. This very uber cool piano will not be out of place at a Beverly Hills bachelor's pad. Talk about traditionalism, the very grand piano has a very ergonomically designed keyboard on which you can finger dance your way to your woman's heart and like all things special, this beauty too, is hand-made. The Piano has over 200 strings with a key assembly of 10000 pieces with a fully adjustable hydraulic lid. That is quite a number. Even the Piano's seat is a work of art with hand stitched leather which can be fully adjusted for height, width and distance to keyboard.

Now, with that kind of comfort for your backside, forget playing the piano, you may rather prefer revelling in it's splendid comfort. This baby is just not about looks alone, a tri-dimensional soundboard with a high performance back assembly with tension collector and sostenuto middle pedal make this, one fully loaded device. The Schimmel Pegasus has found shelter at 14 very exclusive homes ranging from Eddie Murphy to Lenny Kravitz and right now one of these has come up for sale. And no illusions, these pieces of art don't come cheap. 110,000 Dollars for each of them. And, No, Eddie Murphy and Lenny Kravitz are not selling their Pegasus'. It is a music store tycoon lining his Pegasus for sale.[via]

It's, without doubt, one of the most revolutionary keyboards made till the date and breathers kinda new life into the music industry.

Charles Tentindo, the creator of this splendid work of art, didn't use the 80's term 'keytar' for the instrument. Rather, they call it Solo Axe. The masterpiece is a vertical keyboard standing at about 6 feet fall and customized to the liking of each player. Wireless to 500 feet (MIDI), the Zen Riffer Solo Axe is lightweight and breaks down in 2 seconds for transportation. The salient features include 25 full sized keys (full 88 key range with octave switches), 8 MIDI control knobs, and 3 different playing modes. Pricing for the Solo Axe starts at around $3,900. Check out Jordan Rudess soloing on Zen Riffer after the jump.[via]

Spreading smiles has now got an all new meaning with the brand new uber bling, retro styled Joyrider. Well, spreading smileys instead of smiles will be more apt. That is exactly what designer Moritz Waldemeyer's newest creation, the Joyrider aims to do. The trendy designer has taken the boring bicycle and given a subtle input to make it a must have machine which might end up spawning a cult following and creating an all new fashion trend.

The Joyrider's wheel spokes light up into two cute smiley's as the rider pedals the bicycle creating a cool looking orange halo, smiley on each rotating wheel. Here is how it happens. A couple of electronic microchips attached to the bicycle calculate the speed of the wheel and send signals to the glowing LED's in such a way that the smiley appears stationary as the wheel keeps rotating. This not-so-complicated electronic trickery ensures that the components are rugged enough to withstand the daily grind a bicycle might have to go through. No, it cannot withstand mountain biking though and guess what, this cycle was auctioned off for a cool £2000 at an ICA gala fundraiser.

Talk about expensive spokelights. The designer hopes to make this design popular so that many more people would take to cycling and save the environment and themselves. Though the price for the joyrider hasn't yet be announced, i don't expect you to break the bank to get your hands on one, considering the popularizing and environment aspect the designer is so keen on. So, the next time you want to get around the block, hop on to a joyrider, you may just end up charming quite a few with your smileys while saving the earth and yourself too.[via]

So you spent a near fortune on a perfect sofa and coffee table for that great party you are going to throw, but true to human nature, most of your guest will invariably end up in or around the kitchen. They are, after all, only human and adapting to the fact that all the booze and grub is flowing from the kitchen area. It was this adaptive nature in all of us that inspired this social seating design by Tab Turnmire.

Let's face it, when socializing people will sit on almost anything. So designing a seating area that can adapt from table top to seat was a stroke of near genius. Perfect for any lobby or coffee shop layout, these seats/tables/seats easily make sense…how ever you look at it.[via]

We've seen a few cell phone / watch combos before, but most of them look like someone put a phone and a watch in the microwave, and heated them until they melted together. The Epoq EGP-WP88 is an unlocked quad band GSM phone, with an OLED screen that displays stylish analog watch hands in the normal timekeeping mode, and switches over to display your contact lists during phone operation.

While this all might sound like just another pie in the sky concept watch, Lightoftomorrow expects to start shipping them for $550 on March 1st.

Now, if only it could record video....[via]

Apple is a computer company before all else, this much is fact. The iPhone is far more computer than phone, and besides its design, that is why it's so popular. It reinvented the cellphone industry in no small way, and it happened because Apple isn't a phone company.

Neither is Google, but the Android OS is on some levels more exciting than the iPhone. And now rumors are swirling that Alienware, the gaming computer company, is working on its own superphone, based on Android.

Alienware makes impressive hardware, and if it can fold that experience into a handheld device, we could well see a whole new market of handsets evolve, leaving phone makers in the past.[via]

If you are someone who loves unusual aqua sports for the weekend adrenaline rush, get your dose with the Aquaskipper this weekend. It's better than a boat. It's better than a jet ski. Aquaskipper is a human powered hydrofoil, which uses the force of your weight to compress the fiberglass spring and cause the back foil to change its angle and generate the propulsion every time you jump.

Made of aircraft aluminium frame and fiberglass, it weighs a mere 26 pounds and can move at speeds of up to 17 mph. moreover, it can be assembled on the spot and has mimimum drag in water. You don't need to worry about causing water or air pollution since you don't add any fuel to the eco-friendly Aquaskipper. Every time you jump, the force of your weight compresses the fiberglass spring, making the back foil to change its angle. From the same impact of your jump, the angled back foil is pushed downward to generate the propulsion. The exhilarating cardio-vascular workout you get as you play is of course the added bonus. Now, who says workouts can't be fun? The ultimate riding experience on the Aquaskipper can be yours for $495.[via]

We will! Check out this Rinspee sQuba! It's a convertible that's also a submarine! You need to wear scuba masks attached to the built-in air tanks to drive it underwater, but how badass is this? In addition, it's a zero-emissions vehicle, running on a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery, so you can pretend to be a secret agent without wrecking the environment. That's it, I'm sold. Where do I sign?[via]

Just like man's best friend, this Dog Lamp will faithfully sit wherever you happen to place it, ready to illuminate a room at a touch from your hand. Instead of flicking a switch, you pat the lamp's touch-sensitive surface at the top of the Dog Lamp's shade-head. Each successive pat with turn the lamp on, scale through different levels of light, and turn it off.

The lamp's body is made out of acrylic and it uses a 40-watt bulb, but, as it's from Europe, you might need an adapter if you want to plug it in over here. There's another thing not so friendly about this hound, the price: $150.[via]

If your idea of relaxation is getting locked inside a giant egg-like thing with your legs sticking out, then the Armchair Paradise is just the thing for you.

With a sophisticated sound system that lets the music gently relax your whole body by emitting low-frequency vibrations that induce your brain to stroll through different stages of relaxation, namely attention, sleep, dream and relaxation, the resonance results in a high level of relaxation in short time. The technique known as psychoacoustic stimulation or active/deep relaxation, reaches its peak within 6 minutes inducing a state of de-stressing without reducing mental clarity during the session. The aesthetic interior of the Armchair is designed to resemble the comfort of a mother's womb which makes it an ideal tool for relaxation and defatigue therapies. Widely used by the University of Psychology, Psychiatry and Wellness, the Armchair Paradise is the next level of relaxation therapies. May also be used to instill discipline in the unruly. Simply lock the miscreant in the shell and tickle the soles of his feet till he agrees to comply with you![via]

Kayaks are fun and everything, but they are not much good if you want to use them for anything other than kayaking! Thankfully some fishing enthusiast decided to combine the twin pleasures and thus the fisherman's Kayak was born. The kayak comes with a patented custom-made extendable outrigger system that stabilizes the craft to help you fish in a standing position. The kayak is made from durable polyethylene and uses stainless steel/aluminum hardware.

With two independent outriggers that quickly pivot outward 45 degrees to the centerline and with equal ease swing back into position to form the aft section when you have to track or paddle away. Since both the outriggers have watertight storage compartments and come fully-detachable, transportation becomes a breeze. The kayak also features an adjustable nylon-covered padded foam seat and adjustable footpads that allow you to achieve the best possible paddling position.

With a casting brace nesting into the bow unobtrusively and locking into place when raised, the kayak's pull rope built into the hull lets you pull yourself up to a standing position. An easy-to-assemble two-section 12' push pole easily fit into the hull allowing you to reach ideal fishing spots noiselessly while the scupper drain holes provide easy water removal. The Dutch Bicycle Company has created a Conference Bike, which promises to be the sure-fire ice-breaker in corporate or social environment. Aptly dubbed CoBi by American artist/inventor Eric Staller, the bike is powered by six peddlers while one steers it around.

In case you’re guessing how this bike would be useful in scenarios other than a corporate set up, lemme tell ya the two models of the bike, CoBi-5 and CoBi-7 are already being used to ferry employees on the Amazon.com campus in California, as a tour bike in Berlin, and as a corporate team-building tool in London. The 400lb bike measures 2.5m L x 1.8m W x 1.4m H and can run a top speed of 15 kmph which is more than enough to get all the team members to gel together if you let them loose on a freeway! And while you may think that the Conference Bike isn’t safe with six peddlers having their fate in the hands of one loony steerer, it actually comes with dynamo-powered lights/reflectors that meet the strict German 'StVO' regulation so you have nothing to worry about when you have to CoBi-pool your way back from office at night. The incredible CoBi-7 retails for $12,750 in the States while the 5-seater model sells for $8,750. Check out the video after the jump to watch magnificent CoBi in action.[via]

The N96 is pretty similar to the Symbian 60-powered N95 we've all come to recognize as Nokia's 5MP GPS finest, but with 16GB of internal memory and a 2.8-inch screen. This model also has a built-in DVB-H receiver for digital TV signals in Europe and Asia, and a kickstand for desktop viewing. Also new are the backlit touchbuttons on the face, dialpad and top slider section of the phone. When playing media, they show the typical play/pause/ff/rr functions; when gaming on the N-Gage gaming platform, they show control pad buttons. Approx $800, but likely no US 3G support.

Nokia N96: The one to watch Most advanced multimedia computer optimized for entertainment Mobile World Congress 2008, Barcelona, Spain/Espoo, Finland - Nokia today unveiled the Nokia N96, a multimedia computer truly optimized for video and TV. With a large 2.8» screen, 16 gigabytes of internal memory and support for high-quality videos in a wide range of formats, the dual-slide Nokia N96 represents an exciting new chapter in mobile media. The Nokia N96 multimedia computer is expected to begin shipping in the third quarter of 2008 with an estimated sales price of approximately 550 euros, before subsidies or taxes. «In 2007, the Nokia N95 became an icon of convergence of Internet and mobility. With over 7 million units sold to date, the N95 has changed the way people use their mobile device. The Nokia N96 we introduced today builds on the success of N95, further enhancing the experience,» says Jonas Geust, who oversees Nokia's Explore category. «Through the power of the Internet, video and TV are becoming even more prevalent in people's lives. With its large, bright screen, and a range of high-speed connectivity options and the enhanced Nokia Video Center, the new Nokia N96 is a personal window to entertainment.» Accessing internet videos is quick and simple. The Nokia N96 supports common video formats including MPEG-4, Windows Media Video and Flash Video, making favorite videos easy to view. Transferring and accessing videos is even faster with the high-speed USB 2.0 connection and WLAN and HSDPA support. In select markets, the integrated DVB-H receiver offers live broadcast TV with an automatically updating program guide. The massive memory can store up to 40 hours of video content. The storage capacity of the Nokia N96 can even be further expanded with an optional microSD card, such as the new Nokia 8GB microSDHC Card MU-43 which increases the available memory of the Nokia N96 to a total of 24 GB. For added convenience, the Nokia N96 features a 'kickstand' on the back cover that allows for hands-free viewing. The Nokia Video Center offers one place to discover and access a variety of mobile content ranging from movie trailers and comedy to news from world-leading content brands such as YouTube, Reuters, and Sony Pictures. The catalogue of internet video feeds is continually expanded with more regional and country specific content. For a superb music experience, the Nokia N96 features media keys, a 3.5 mm headphone connector and built-in 3D stereo speakers. The Nokia Maps application offers richer maps with urban details and satellite views and has upgrade options such as City Guides, turn-by-turn pedestrian mode and voice-guided car navigation. The Nokia N96 boasts a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, flash and video light. It allows DVD-like quality video capture at 30 frames per second. Further, with the integrated A-GPS, consumers can now 'geotag' their pictures with location data and share them with their online communities. The Nokia N96 naturally supports the Ovi family of Nokia internet services, including maps, music, media sharing and more. Nokia Nseries is a range of high performance multimedia computers that delivers unparalleled mobile multimedia experiences by combining the latest technologies with stylish design and ease of use. With Nokia Nseries products, consumers can use a single device to enjoy entertainment, access information and to capture and share pictures and videos, on the go at any time. www.nseries.com

Sony has just launched a new line of phones dubbed the XPERIA, starting with the XPERIA X1. Looking like it's aimed directly at phones such as the Sidekick and Ocean, it's got a full QWERTY keyboard that slides out from underneath the phone.

In addition, it has a 3-inch touchscreen, WiFi connectivity, 400MB of storage onboard, and microSD support. It runs on a modified version of Windows Mobile, so how that's implemented should make or break this guy. It should be able to run on pretty much every network both here in the US and in Europe, so look for it to hit your local carriers sometime this summer.
Meet Bloom's Daylight «table lamp.» Like this sun jar it collects energy during the day so that it can illuminate your room at night. In the morning the lamp looks like a potted plant— that flat «flower» on top holds a solar panel that spends the day collecting sun. When it's dark, just flip the plant over: it's shaped like a normal table lamp. The energy that the «plant» has been collecting all day is used to power the lamp's LED bulbs, which will burn from 2-40 hours, depending on how sunny it was.

The Daylight is waterproof for outdoor use, but also has a very sensitive solar panel so that it can charge when it's inside as well. Though you may be worried that the Daylight is just another concept lamp, it's actually available in Europe for $140. What a relief.
I mean, come on. Who is still designing CD players these days? Clearly, CDs are going the way of the cassette and the 8-track, soon to be reserved for sentimental nostalgia addicts. So why spend the time creating some fancy version of yesterday's hot product? I suppose I'm not one to judge, but somehow I don't think this'll ever become a big seller.
Who cares what the neighbors think? Let's build a house that looks like a snail shell! That's just what a Mexico City couple did, with the help of the astonishing imagination of those wild and wooly architects at Senosiain Arquitectos. Unlike that House of the Future we showed you yesterday, this abode is built now and the couple is already living in it with their two small children.

It's more of a sculpture than a dwelling. Taking cues from a Nautilus shell, the house is put together using ferrocement construction, a technique involving a frame of steel-reinforced chicken wire with a special two-inch-thick composite of concrete spread over it, resulting in a structure that's earthquake-proof and maintenance-free.

The open concept inside the house is dominated by smooth surfaces, spiral stairs and natural plantings that makes the inhabitants feel like they're living inside a snail who swallowed the entire contents of somebody's back yard. While the house is surrounded on three sides by the bustling Mexico City, its West side (where most of its portal-style windows are located) has a breathtaking view of the mountains. Wow. Maybe someday all houses will be made this way. [via]

Conveniently located in the tabletop's center are recessed areas where silicone pads are stored, perfect for placing hot pans without scorching. In case you get into a messy food fight because of those limited confines in which you're forced to live every day, those comfy cushions are washable, and the rest of the table can be simply hosed down. Once the commotion dies down, those four chairs snap into place with their little strategically-placed magnets attracting their metal counterparts on the table's legs. Neat.
