I was prompted to do something I haven't done in a long time...paint a portrait! The brush in my hand felt so different from the mouse I'm used to, but natural at the same time.

Now if the kids hadn't been tusseling and fell on my camera, I'd have a better shot of it.

I'm glad I did it and even gladder I finally finished it. The family was very proud, to the point of being speechless. It's a good feeling making someone else happy.

Logo Design - Before and After

A few months ago, my brother approached me about doing a logo for his friend who was opening an ice cream shop. Ice cream is my favorite and logo design is what I do, so I was excited to get started on the logo.

Cathi emailed me the scanned logo. My brother had sketched some ideas on a napkin while they were eating lunch one afternoon.

I took the before and got started. After several emails and tweaks later, the logo was finished and ready for the printer.

Rose - vector graphics

Working for screenprinters for over 20 years has led me to create thousands of vector graphics for most of our customers.

I was playing with a rose photo and decided to vectorize the photo.

Vector graphics is the use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and shapes or polygon(s), which are all based on mathematical equations, to represent images in computer graphics.

Pin Oak Lake - Digital Painting

Last year, we camped out at Pin Oak Lake in Natchez Trace State Park. The weather was lovely and the tree foliage was breathtaking.

My Morning Cuppa Joe - A Digital Watercolor

As a graphic designer for a screenprinting company for over the past 20 years, most of my art is done using a mouse nowadays.

Every morning when I get to work, I make myself a cup of coffee using my Black and Decker Cup-at-a-Time single cup coffee maker.

Sitting at my desk, I decided to take a digital picture of my morning ritual. Then I decided to "paint" it.

I'm thinking I could print it off and frame it in a neat black frame...maybe hang it in my kitchen.

When I get this done, I'll be sure and post an update.

Fingerless Gloves

Ok, this is not computerized art, but it IS a form of arts and crafts. :)

I purchased a 100% wool sweater from the Goodwill for $2.00. After washing in very hot water and drying on high heat, the sweater had shrank and the wool "felted".

On this particular sweater, I was able to use the sleeves to make the fingerless gloves. I added a solid black button on each wrist and reinforced the thumb hole with embroidery thread.

I gave these to my brother-who-has-everything for Christmas.

He loved them!

Check out your local Goodwill for 100% wool sweaters and make you some fingerless gloves or a coffee cup cozy for cents on the dollar.
