Valentine's Day is that one day that's already romantic and generally know you'll be spending that time together. Therefore, you shouldn't be suprised that it's also one of the most popular days of the year to propose.
I am a true believer that one should "Love Without End", and because of that thought If you're looking for ways to revive, renew and refresh your love, here are a few tips...

Hold Hands! When I see a couple holding hands it makes me smile. This seems to be something that has drifted away as the years go on. Spend sometime walking and holding each other's hands. Talking things out and sorting ways to ease tension also helps to bring two people intimately closer to each other.
Be Adventerous! Go to all the places you'd love to be in - your partner might be a little afraid of skiing, snorkeling, horse riding, free falling and other activities, but this could be a way to overcome their fright.
Be Spontaneous! If you decide to stay home, snuggle and be close! Ask your partner what they want to do on a particular evening. If you like movies; watch a few movies together and make your partner comfortable by making them their favorite meals and doing little chores for them. .
Praise and Appreciate! The biggest issue with relationships is that we get too "comfortable" Take some time to get ready and pay attention to your appearance. Everyone wants to love and be loved in return. If you will be open with your partner, your partner is sure to open up after a few loving gestures from your side

Im a sucker for a good love story and this Valentine's Day I plan on taking in the movie THE VOW! This story of romance proves that love never dies, and that nothing can overcome the promises this couple makes to love and care for each other forever.

Sweet Tasty Treats: "The Candy Buffet"

Candy bar or candy buffet; which ever name you choose to use, is one of my favorite wedding and event trends. In addition to being a fun party decoration, they are also a great favor. When deciding on how to display your sweet treats, here are a few suggestions to help you along the way.

What look are you going for? What do you want your guests to feel when they see your display? PRESENTATION is a key element when considering a candy buffet. Think about a color scheme that matches your wedding palette. Be sure to use nice linen and some draping for depth. I personally like using various heights to create a somewhat dramatic presence along with tags, platters and anything else that ties into the overall theme without being overbearing.

Less is certainly more but variety is another key element for your candy buffet. It may be your wedding and you absolutely dread some sweet treats. However, your guests will appreciate having choices! Continue to keep in mind your color scheme but don’t be afraid of using different shades that tie in. If your event is outside, stay away from candies that easily melt. For my fruit lovers, if you’re planning on having a chocolate fountain and using fresh fruit on your table be sure they are in season. Popcorn balls, nuts and even donut holes can be a tasty addition to your sweet table. If you've never had a macaroon..... you simply must!

Dont forget to have utensils and something for your guests to pack up their sweet treats. Enjoy the party, after all it's yours!!!

Part four of Color by Color 2012 is about as pretty as they come! This color has always been one of my favorites and this year it's making quite a comeback.

Sweet Lilac, which is in the purple color family and probably why I love it, is a beautiful and breathtaking color when used in weddings. I love everything about this “sweet” color and can’t wait to see it being used more!!

It's another #WeddingWednesday and today we're going to touch on a color that is suppose to be super HOT for 2012. Cockatoo, which to me, closely resembles Tiffany Blue could easily stand alone but I would love to see it paired with a blush, hot pink or tangerine!! Wedding Attire for the Children

Children in your wedding add a certain element of charm and definitely unpredictability to your wedding. Dressing them is often times a challenge and although there are no definite rules, here are a few suggestions to help you along your way.

When you begin attire shopping for the Brides Maid you should also start shopping for the children's attire. Be sure to check the turn around time for the items you choose and order ahead to have them a full month before the Wedding.
Because children grow, ordering too early will increase the risk of a growth spurt. But if you fall in love with something early on, realize that styles for children come and go and what you love now may not be available in six months. Therefore, consider ordering a size larger and plan on having alterations done before the wedding.

Choosing the Right Color for Your Wedding!

White or ivory flower girls' dresses are always darling. Note that not all whites are created equal! Your gown dictates which white is required for the rest of the wedding party. What color is it - bright white, ivory, cream in color? Is it silk or another fabric?
Silk is always slightly off white even when it is called white. Never mix off-white and bright white; whoever wears the silk white will look dingy. So, if you have a silk white gown select silk white, off-white or color dresses for the girls.
A perfect color to match your adult attendants will require ordering both adult and child dresses from the same manufacturer together from the same dye lot. Ordering a color from a different manufacturer will almost never match.
Consider a coordinating shade of the adults' attire such as pink against burgundy or light blue against dark blue. This opens up many new choices. Another direction is to use the color of your flowers. This can create a striking effect.
There are several ways to add color to white or ivory outfits for the children. Many dresses can be purchased with colored sashes. If by chance the right color sash is not available, purchase wide satin ribbon from any fabric or craft store or have your bridal salon order additional fabric to match your Bride's Maids gowns and ask them to make up sashes to match.

What Should the Boys Wear?

The Ring Bearer can be dressed in many different ways. You can go with a classic Eton (shorts) suit or a mini version of the groom. The shorts can be worn throughout the year and usually with long socks. This style is especially charming on boys 4 years and younger.

A good option for the ring bearer is a tailored suit. This often meets the approval of parents because it can be worn again - and the pants and shirt repeatedly.

If you're having Junior Groomsmen they can wear either a tailored suit or tuxedo to match the adult men in the wedding party..

According to some sources it's the most widespread superstition in the United States today. Some people refuse to go to work on Friday the 13th, some won't eat in restaurants, many wouldn't think of setting a wedding on the date. Well, in honor of this very superstitious day, here are 13 facts and fictions that should make you at least go hmmmm.

Happy Wedding Wednesday! Last week we took at look at Solar Power (yellow) and Sodalite (blue) which were two really powerful combinations. Today, however, we are going to look at two new different looks for 2012.

This color "pink" has been hot and cold over the years but has recently become one of the hottest when it comes to fashion and design so let's dig into it further and see how you can incorporate it into your design elements.

There are a few reasons that pink is so standard for weddings. The biggest one is that it is a very effeminate color, and always so pretty. Another nice thing in regards to pink is that it is flattering to almost each skin tone, not similar to colors such as green or yellow.

Simple Tips For a More Beautiful YOU!

October, November and December are all pretty eventful months. During that time we pretty much everything we want, take random naps, shop without caring and some became ENGAGED! Now that it's a new year, January is the month when the focus shifts from packing it in to taking it off. New health and beauty resolutions are the most popular tweets and status' seen with everyone making an effort to redeem themselves from all the bad things they did to their bodies over the holiday season.

What many of my clients don't know is that I am a secret health nut! I have been just a hair short of obsessed with the topic and I often find myself watching infomercials regarding the latest health and beauty products. I believe that looking good on the outside starts with feeling good on the inside! One of my favorite tips is wheat grass!! Not the best tasting shot but the health benefits supersede the look and taste. are some of our favorite health and beauty picks that we use ALL year round.

As you are preparing for your upcoming wedding and/or event, here are a few things I personally like:

Prescriptives! Let me be clear - for your wedding please use a PROFESSIONAL make up artist. However, for everyday wear Presciptives is my makeup of choice. I'm not a heavy make up user but I found that prescriptives serves my purpose. Very light coverage, and a great moisturizer with some vitamins and SPF.

Lashes! These give the average girl a lot of kick. Lashes have come a long way right? You now can get the classic strips which are fairly easy to apply, individuals or what you see here extensions both require an "expert" IMO. Since I am a lash picker (bad me).. I prefer the strips. However, be sure when you wear them that if they begin to fall off and you don't notice.... a friend will tell you (insider..lol)

Nails! Every girl needs to have fresh nails. I confess that I LOVE getting my nails done but I don't wear anything too loud or colorful. My sister would consider it a little boring but fresh and clean fits my style. What is yours? Oh, and since I ONLY wear OPI, I'm digging the new line of Gelcolors. These UV treated polishes don’t chip, last about 2 weeks and come in all the classic OPI colors that I adore.

Sunglasses! I wear contacts so sunglasses are a must for me. Now, if I can keep my nieces and daughters out of them most time when you see me, you'll see those nearby. Sunglasses protect the eyes and keep you from squinting. FYI-squinting is not attractive and because squinting causes wrinkles -wrinkles are the enemy! Needless to say sunglasses are useful and a great accessory!

Wheat Grass! I can honestly say I don't mind the taste....However, if it's a problem for you try mixing or chasing it with some apple juice to help you get this wonder food down a bit easier. One of the main reasons I drink it is because it helps with alkalizing your body. If you are a meat eater like me then one of the side effects of all that meat is that it creates a lot of acid in your body and your body being too acid is one of the main reasons many illnesses happen.

One of my favorite things to do is READ! As a business woman there isn't such a thing as too much knowledge. Wedding magazines and books are ideal for that ME time I require.

Although I am really starting to get in Pinterest and enjoy purusing the array of inspiratino boards, there is nothing like cracking open a beautiful bound book marked just for THAT client. Pinterest is on my goals list for 2012 and I'll find that hour a day to really get into it very soon.

However, please note that as a business woman wedding literature isn't the only thing in my library. I enjoy all types of books that force me to think about where I'm going and how to get there. Here are a few of my favorite business and wedding related books!

Color by Color 2012 - Part 1

Before we get into all the details of planning your fabulous weddings and events; I thought we'd visit color trends for the upcoming year. Today we'll visit just two colors so be sure to check back next Wednesday for more.

Sodalite Blue and Solar Power are fun color combinations that would work for any style wedding or event.

This 5 tier round and square cake is covered in ivory fondant and decorated with navy bows and adorned with crystals. The entire cake was dark blue velvet cake with lemon cream cheese

Probably the most sophisticated "something blue" I've ever seen are these Christian Louboutin slingbacks.

If you want to add a little more depth to this, you can introduce two other accents such as Ivory and Driftwood (which is another hot color for 2012)

2011 was a wonderful year for us at Simply Perfect Peace Events. In addition to launching our Simply Peaceful Event Care (first client was the wedding of Deirdra and Johnnie followed by Activision Games for Girls) we love that we offer "Perfected Proposals" which works with clients on unique and creative ways to propose. We will make reservations, decorate and give tips and pointers on ways to relax before asking the big question.

Kwanzaa: Day Three

Habari Gani (What's the news for today) Happy Ujima! Day Three of Kwanzaa focuses on collective work and responsibility. It involves taking a vested interest in the well-being of our families and communities - "I am my brother's keeper". It is a requirement that we work together in ways that benefit everyone. With this concept, the problems of our brothers and sisters must be our own problems and we must solve them together.

How do I practice this principle? My sister and I have a non for profit called DITO (daughters in the open) where the goal is to encourage women of all ages to walk through their door of opportunity. We have "nieces" meetings where we mentor young ladies and they are able to share their concerns in a confidential and safe environment...
Another way I give back to my community is to share my experiences on college recruitment and help young men in any way possible see their potential of higher learning through athletics while expressing the importance of being a STUDENT and good citizen first.

I am really amazed how each of these concepts of Kwanzaa actually builds upon the founding principle of the first day: Unity. What are you doing to practice these principles?

Self-Determination/Kujichagulia - Today we focus on ways to define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves and speak for ourselves.

When a person or group is self-determined that makes for a powerful force to be reckoned with. When we practice the principle of Kujichagulia other principles come into play. We accept responsibility for determining what happens in our community rather than waiting for someone to do it for us.

When we practice the principle of Kujichagulia we don't whine about our problems, we solve them! Kujichagulia allows people to experience a sense of freedom to make positive change as individuals and collectively.

I posted today on FB that if we allow foolishness and fuckery (a west indies term meaning nonsense) into our lives (and community) we should expect it. I'm sure we've all heard the statement "People only do what you allow" Starting today, speak up and know who you are for your name is VICTORY! Take responsbility for what enters your space and be determined to make a positive difference by creating and maintaining peace in your own lives and your community. "Simply Peace, 2012"

Kwanzaa: Day One

Unity/Umoja
To strive daily to engage in practices which build bonds of affection and attachment to our family members, our school teachers, and our neighbors.

Unity Day begins the Kwanzaa celebration. Each family/community celebrates Kwanzaa in a way that is most meaningful to them. Unity is the spiritual and social gravity which pulls the family together- husband and wife, parent and children, and family and neighbor. At its core, the principle unity is about attachment- attachment to each others and most importantly to the values which define us as family, as community and as a people. On Unity Day, the family celebrates its togetherness, the achievements of family members.

That being said: What did you do to celebrate? I had a good time with my family over the holiday. Encouraged disconnections to be reconnected; took in my nephews basketball game with the family, fixed them brunch which led to a group nap and later enjoyed the McDipper (traditional holiday basketball tournament) with my sister. For me celebrating my own family as well as the achievements of others is the true meaning of Unity.
