Yes the dreaded creative block. I get them and it seems like sometimes I will never get out of them. With running an online business it is easy to get pulled into the computer side of business and forget if you don't create you will not have anything to list online. So when I get in a creative standstill I still want t do something to feel worthy of being at home, so I compiled a list of place you can sell online.

So here is the list with a little info on each of them. I have not personally tried each one of them but I did visit each site for the sign up info and cost. A lot of sites come and go and there are new ones each day popping up so I will do what I can to keep this update. So here you go!

http://craftisart.com

Free and paid premium storefronts

http://storenvy.com

Free to list and they also have a Facebook fan page app.

http://artfire.com/

$11.95 a month with free first month.

http://styleoutsidethebox.com/

Email to apply.

http://www.thingspeoplemake.com/

Free to either sell or just show off your items.

http://www.bythesehands.com/

Free-- List up to 25 items, no listing, selling or final fees.

Premier (normally $6.95 but right now it is $2.95 a month)-- Unlimited items, no listing, selling or final fees.

http://yardsellr.com/

If someone knows anything about this site please post it and I will update this, as I don't have info on it.

http://craftgo.com/

Free to list, 3% flat fee on all sales not including shipping.

http://www.bonanza.com/

Free to list, 3% final value fee on sales. I thought it was time then to start looking at what is the trending little girls wear for spring and summer. What I found was some green and yellow stripes, some gray and tan. Am I seeing things right? These major labels want me to dress my princess of fashion in boring tennis clothes and frumpy hobo layers? Being a kid is supposed to be fun, so I decided the only way to find out what a princess wants to wear is to ask her. So here goes the "fab greatest relaxful" styles for spring for your little princesses from my little princess, Mari.

We had to start somewhere and it had to offer tons of variety, because a almost 6 year old gets bored pretty quick. So we start our search on Artfire. If you don't know about Artfire let me tell you, it is a marketplace with independent artist, designers, vintage section and it now also has a commercial section. But I am all about supporting other small businesses especially ones right here in the USA, so today we are looking in the Handmade section of Artfire.

Artfire has a feature called "checking in" it is basically when a shop remembers to turn the sign from closed to open. Sometimes sellers just forget to hit the little button in their shop and it shows to us the customers that they have not "checked in" in quite some time. If I have the time I send the seller a little note asking if they are open and tending to their store and if I don't have time I just move on to another store owner that has checked in with in the last 2 weeks.

Next we surfed on over to Etsy.

Etsy is pretty awesome you can get anything there for anyone and the search is pretty easy. It took no time at all for my little princess to find things she wanted, "that, that, that, that, that'. The only thing I don't really like is not knowing if the shop is attended to or not. If they are a busy shop and get lots of sales that helps a lot but there are a lot of new artist out there just waiting for their first sale, sometime you just have to bite the bullet and buy, buy, buy. Remember you are under Paypal protection when you order. Make sure to educate yourself with Paypal, if you have not received your item within a 45 day you can file a dispute, but after that 45 days Paypal no longer protects you, but if you paid with a credit card it still might.

Make sure to protect yourself when shopping online. Whether you are buying from a marketplace like, Etsy, Artfire, CraftisArt or any of the others out there or buying from a facebook fanpage or even from someones .com. Look for things like policies, how they ship, returns, custom orders and how they present their business. Not everyone is perfect from the start but you can surely tell the difference from someone who is trying to constantly improve and someone who doesn't give a darn. Buying from handmade artist is great because you get new things, one of a kind things and the work that goes into it is quality and will stand the test of time.

Till we meet again, keep crafty and shop handmade!

Tonya, Designs by Tonya Goudy

December Delay

Hello and sorry for the lag in posting for December. The holiday season is hectic and I have not had enough time for everything. So I just wanted to stop in and say hello and let you know I will be back posting very soon. I have some wonderful tutorials coming up in 2012. I have found I love to share how to do things, but writing up a decent how to is a lot harder than I ever expected. I would love to start featuring guest bloggers who have something crafty to share, so if you are one or know of one please let me know, I would love to have you.

But today I am making my way down the mountain to return some Christmas items and do some fabric shopping. I love fabric shopping, I think it is the smell. My daughter do not like going at all she says it takes to long for them to cut the fabric, I agree, but patience is a virtue.

Make sure to check out my Facebook Fanpage for the items I have finished and up for sale and for discounts and contest, by the way I love contests.

Also looking for any other bloggers that would like to exchange links or banners, please email tng3876@yahoo.com

Bread Pudding Recipe easy and perfect for the holidays.

So the mountain storm has not let up. I am lucky that we are only at 900 feet because if we were higher we would be getting loads of snow. Power was out for awhile, lots of trees down and lots and lots of rain. The little one is at home and wants to bake something. So I thought it was a good day to make my bread pudding it is a easy recipe and great for little hands to help with. I am lucky that my little one is a great helper and enjoys all the domestic things we do I'm sure one day it will change and baking with mom will be the farthest thing from her mind. So I will enjoy what we have now. Hope you enjoy our bread pudding.

Things you need

2 cups of Milk or 2 cups of Half&Half if you like a heavier pudding

1 cup of Brown Sugar

3 eggs

2 teaspoons of cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg

2 teaspoons of vanilla

3 cups of bread(thick french bread is best but anything you have on hand will work)

1/2 cup of raisins, optional

Pre-heat oven at 350 degrees

This is the fun part for kids, have them pull apart bread into 1 inch pieces and measure out 3 cups, put into a non-stick square baking pan. Fold in raisins if you are using them.

Heat mild on medium till a film forms add in butter, stir till butter blends remove from heat and set aside.

Combine sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and egg. Mix on slow till combined. Add in milk and butter mixture slowly so you don't cook your eggs.

Pour mixture slowly over your bread making sure that your bread is all moist. Bake for 40-50 minutes on 350.

I like to top with light coat of butter and powdered sugar.

Eat and Enjoy!

"It is not that you have chosen me; but it is I who have chosen you. Easy sewing project.

So today will be how to day. Keep in mind this is the first how to I have ever written up so bare with me and make sure to comment if I have left out something. I will show you the super easy way to make a super cute girls ruffle skirt, perfect for over tights and leggings. What a great way to make matching skirt sets for sisters. And also great for the girls who can never find what they like in the store. This is super easy to make and takes about a day. You have to be able to sew a straight line and do a zig zag stitch. Okay here we go.

This is what the skirt will look like finished. The size I am going to show is girls size 3, but will go over how to adjust for different sizes at the end.

Supplies:

**Fabric, stretch or cotton will work, it is best to pre-wash just because some fabric shrinks more than others.

Use 1 or 2 different colors/patterns, your choice.

**Elastic, soft stretch 1/2 inch width.

**Thread

**Scissors

**Ruler

**Straight Pins

**Sewing Machine

Let's get started, the first thing we are going to do is cut out all our needed pieces. The pictures that are below show how to do that.

Now that you have all your pieces cut let's start sewing.

Put 2 of the same color/pattern 12 inch by 2 inch pieces face to face(the part that is on the outside) and pin the ends together and sew a straight line 1/4 inch from the side.

Continue to sew all the 12 inch by 2 inch pieces the same way. I will usually overcast, serge or just a simple zig-zag stitch the ends so the fabric will not come apart.

Put 2 of the same color/patter 20 inch by 3 inch pieces face to face (the part that is on the outside) and pin the ends together and sew a straight line 1/4 inch in from the side, finish with a overcast, serge or zig-zag stitch on those ends.

Continue to sew all the 20 inch by 3 inch pieces the same way.

Next is the tricky part(well not that tricky).

Take one of the 20 inch by 3 inch pieces and open in and lay it face down length wise toward you on your machine. Start near a seam about 1/2 inch from the top of the fabric.

With you machine still in a straight stitch, centered in the middle, hold the top thread in your hand and depress your needle up and down one time to grab the bobbin thread and pull it up through the fabric.

Now you will want to pull both upper and bobbin thread out equally 14 or so inches. Twist those threads together so they don't get away from you while sewing and put them under your presser foot.

Now switch you machine to a loose zig-zag stitch and carefully zig-zag stitch over the thread that you pulled out, don't loose your ends you will have to pull the a little to bunch the fabric as you are sewing. Stop at the next seam, make sure to have enough left over thread from the end of the zig-zag to tie with the thread that is under the zig-zag, but don't tie off now.

Do the same zig-zag over thread for the other side top of the 20 inch by 3 inch piece.

Now you will be pulling the tread that is under the zig-zag stitch to evenly bunch your fabric, you need to check it against the seam to seam measurements of the 12 inch by 2 inch piece, when they are even tie off the ends so you don't loss your bunch/ruffle.

Continue to do the zig-zag over thread on all of the 20 inch by 3 inch piece tops, take your time and remember to tie off only after you have the bunched/ruffled part equal to the length of the 12 inch by 2 inch pieces.

You are now going to pin the bunched top to the bottom of the 12 inch by 2 inch pieces, face to face(the outside of the fabric).

Make sure your seams line up and make sure to use alot of pins like every 1/2 inch.

Smooth out all your bunches/ruffles and now sew a straight stitch at the bottom of the zig-zag.

Set that piece out of the way and now continue to do the same thing to the rest of the 20 inch by 3 inch pieces and the 12 inch by 2 inch pieces.

When you are done doing that you should have 5 ruffles on 5 bands(the 12"x2" pieces).

Now to attach your pieces so you can finish your skirt.

In the next picture you will see two pieces, piece marked 1 is with the band facing down and inside of the circle.

Picture marked 2 is with the band pulled up.

You now will place piece 2 on the outside of piece 1, pin the top of the band(pic.2) to the middle/zig-zag seam of pic.1, matching side seam to side seam.

Now looking at your pinned section your ruffled part will be on the inside of the band, sew a straight stitch about 1/2 inch in, it should be almost right on top of the straight stitch on pic. 1 from when you attached the ruffle to the band making the middle seam.

Continue to attach the top bands to the middle seam with your remaining pieces. When you are finished you will have a top band with nothing to attach to it.

Now get some elastic and measure your little ones waist, not to tight.

Cut the elastic about 1/2 inch extra. Set aside.

At this time I like to to the finishing, with overcastind, serge or a zig-zag stitch on all your loose ends, the top band, all the middle seams where you attached all the layers and all the ruffle ends. Now you also want to hem your ruffle ends with a straight stitch.

For the waist, you will fold the band in half on the inside of skirt and sew it right at the bottom of the band right above the seam that attaches the ruffle to the skirt.

When sewing leave a opening about 2 inches so you will be able to feed the elastic in.

Next feed the elastic through the top of the skirt, making sure to leave the ends out and now sew the ends of the elastic together.

Finish sewing up the 2 inch section you left open and TA-DA you have a cute ruffle skirt.

Different Sizes

So now to figure out how to get a different size. I like to measure the widest part of the hips, add 2 inches to that and then divide it in half, and that will be your top band piece length (up above it would have been the 12"x2"). To get the width of the pieces will depend on how big you want your ruffles, if you want your ruffles 4 inches wide your bands will be 3 inches if you want 5 inch ruffles your band will be 4 inches. All except the top band, which I like to keep 2 inches wide.

Your ruffle length will be anywhere from 8-10 inches longer than each of your band pieces, depending on how much ruffle you want.

EXAMPLE:

Your daughter is widest at her hips at 30 inches and you want your ruffles approx. 5 inches.

First you add 2 to the 3and then divide in half. 30+2=32/2=16

Your length of your bands is 16 inches.

The width of your bands is going to be 4 inches.

Cut 8 pieces of 16"x4" and 2 pieces of 16"x2" this is your top band where the elastic is.

Your ruffled pieces will be 26 inches by 5.5 inches.

Cut 10 pieces of 26"x5.5"

With a little measuring you will have ruffle skirts for every size. Hopefully you will find my posts utterly engaging and fabulous, lol. A little about me to start. My name is Tonya, I am a single stay at home mom and I live on MT. ST. Helens in Washington state. I have a 5 year old daughter that is up here with me and a 15 year old son who lives in town, hes 15 and the mountain is not for him so he lives with grandpa which is great because boys need good strong men to teach them how to be good strong men.

I am a artsy creative type. I currently run a online business where I design and makes girly girl boutique clothing and womens clothing, purses and accessories. Told you I was one of those artsy creative types. I truely enjoy be able to be at home and create, I once upon a lifetime was a upper level manager for nightclubs and had to be away from home for 80+ hours a week, wasn't easy being a mom or being myself and loving God being away for so long and in a crazy enviroment.

The mountain and my own little girly girl inspire me to create, cook and just do zany mom things. So that is where this blog is going to go, in every direction. From cooking to creating to crazy mom stuff. I hope you stick around and watch for recipes, how-tos and mom-isms. God bless, enjoy life and give back!

What's for dinner?

This is a great recipe for those that like sweet meat, kids love it, my daughter who is picky will eat everything and get seconds.

1 bottle of Jamaica Mistake Dressing (dressing is from the johnny's company and I get it at my local grocery store. It is usually in the salad dressing isle)
1 bag of baby carrots
Potatoes, I use plain potatoes cut in half depending on size, yukons work also
1 large sweet onion sliced
1 beef roast or boneless chicken breast

Put the bottle of Jamaiaca Mistake in then meat, potatoes and carrots and layer the sliced onion on top. I also fill the Jamaiaca Mistake bottle up halfway (or more depending on crock pot size) with water and pour over the top. As for temp either all day on medium or 4.5 to 5 on high depending on you crock pot. Meat should fall apart.

It is so good. The kids love it so much, the first day we do a roast in it and then with the sauce left the next day we do the chicken with the carrots, potatoes and onion. So good!!

<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/DesignsByTonyaGoudy/~3/zj2sSqnyCOY/hello-and-welcome-to-mom-on-mountain-m.html" title="Welcome!
