OptionTree is a Theme Options UI Builder for WordPress. A simple way to create & save Theme Options and Meta Boxes for free or premium themes. The 2.0 version added support for custom post types and taxonomies along with many other robust features. This article will present a query example for calling custom post types from a certain taxonomy selected by user in the “theme options” panel.

According to the taxonomy parameters, you can call the taxonomy after ID or slug if you specify in array the ‘field’ string. The OptionTree plugin provide the ID of WordPress taxonomies and should not be a problem to use it in a taxonomy query. In my case, I wasn’t able to find a proper way to get posts from a ‘portfolio’ custom post type and ‘project_type’ taxonomy using just the ID’s of categories.

Solution

The following code example show how you can get the custom posts using the ‘slug’ of the taxonomy categories. Change the taxonomy name and OptionTree function ID according to your theme and place it above the loop.

Benoit Jammes is a 33 year old graphic designer, living in Paris, France. The following cassette tapes art is entirely handmade. DesignMix asked him how he started to play in this creative way with the cassette tapes, Benoit answered: “I found a bunch of old cassettes at home, and seeing them brought me back, in past, in the 80s when i was just a kid. In any case, I could not play them any more so resurrecting them sounded like a good idea. If a cassette tape was related to the sound, it became visual now! I am pretty sure they are more happy now than in a shoe box ”.

The inspiration for cassette tapes stories are gathered from all around, from movies to friends and newspapers. Is a really pleasure to see such creative artworks made from simple (garbage for others) things what have a double way to spark an immediate reaction: the memories one and the story itself. Enjoy!

An inheritor of pictorial tradition that goes back at least as far as ancient Rome and later compelled the best efforts of such Northern European masters as Roger van de Weyden and Jan Vermeer, Sprick finds much yet to be revealed in the still life and the interior. His ultra realistic oil paintings continue and expand old dialogues about appearance and reality, the relationship of art and life, the revelation of the multiples in the simple. Although he is a man who is devoted to the meticulous representation of everyday things, Daniel Sprick’s career as a painter began with visions of flight.

“I began drawing,” Daniel Sprick explains, “at age four. Dad showed me how.” Airplanes were a passion. The youngster associated their graceful contours with movement and eventually made elegance in drawing the equivalent of flight. Balsa wood gliders, looping and banking, focused Sprick’s imagination on the beauty of line. To this day, Sprick relates an “exquisite line” to being airborne. Each painting, he says, is his search for “just the right launch,” and exercise that must conclude in a perfect landing.

Tensions between interior and exterior, tradition and experiment, distance and intimacy, charm and weirdness, and literal representation and emotional expression fill Daniel Sprick’s paintings. Viewed through this works, the artist’s world is a small one—studio, hallway, a studio table, a window—yet it encompasses a kind of cosmic vision. “I didn’t know you could be a professional artist until I was in my mid-twenties,” Sprick recalls. “I thought it was too late for me.”

Looking at the next realistic oil paintings, what we can say, is just: “no, wasn’t too late for him”.

Working on a WordPress integration of this Blogfest HTML template i found that an working php / html contact form lead to a 404 error page in a WordPress page. What can be wrong with this form once is working just fine on a php / html template, but integrated in a custom WordPress page template is failing?

The WordPress Tip

Please notice the highlighted line nr 9. Everything look just fine, rite? In a HTML template, yes, but when you are integrating a form in a WordPress page template keep in mind that the name attribute should be different then “name” or “author”. Once i changed the name attribute to “username” (example) the form was working again and no more 404 error.

The GUI meaning is “graphical user interface” and UI is just “user interface.” GUI is a subset of UI. UI can include non-graphical interfaces such as screen readers or command line interfaces which aren’t considered GUI. For what kind of projects can be useful this free GUI / UI kits library? If you are a graphic or web designer, then you know already the value of a proper mockup what will be shown to the client so that they can have an idea of how their user and admin interface or web design layout will look once it is completely designed. Most of the time is not worth to spend too much time creating such a mockup, but in same time, you need to catch the attention of the client and express in the most good way your vision about project.

On the other hand, if you are a GUI / UI designer, this article can inspire you regarding the style and elements used. Other UI kits provide you a good base of elements that are very useful when it comes to building a mobile application.

The illustration skills development had the same hard work road, what sustain idea that a talent without work is nothing, evolving in time from basic shading and errors in proportions to more complex designs.
