We love how they combined the contemporary with the traditional here. With a minimalist approach to color and the traditional stool legs with glossy gray vinyl seat cushions paired with clear acrylic chairs at contemporary table paired with a very traditional chandelier! The contemporary bed setup juxtaposed against the vintage wall art and the rustic barn door makes this a very unique (little) space!

Chevrons

Chevrons…in all shapes and sizes are the thing and have been this year! We have a few that have caught our eye – two of them a very subtle chevron, and the other two…well, not so subtle! I found some lovely red and white chevron at our local fabric store (Chrysalis) and made a new Christmas tree skirt. It’s a colorful, bold addition to our Christmas decor!

Solid Squares

Creativity comes in all shapes and sizes, but we are particularly enamored with these basic squares, in solids and stripes, and even the coveted chevron. FLOR has some really neat flooring options and with the right design, it can liven up ANY room in the house!

I can see the green and aqua color tiled for a little boys room, or maybe the aqua and red for a fun retro office.

Idea “Boards”

Painting a wall in chalkboard paint has been a versatile addition to the creativity we can have on the walls in our homes. A homemade recipe for chalkboard paint (using sanding grout) makes for any color to become a chalkboard wall in your home!

Even better, now they’ve come up with a new product that allows you to paint a ‘white board’ in several colors (shown below) on your wall at home or in your office! A little less dusty & scratchy, and just as much fun!

Getting A Head

I was at a beautiful event in the middle of nowhere on the FL/GA border this weekend and in the bathroom of the venue there was a little woodstove with antlers laid upon the top (yes, a woodstove fire place in the bathroom!) with a mounted deer head/skull on the wall. This place had the cozyness of an intimate venue, but the feeling of magnificence with the open starlit sky and the little touches all around. These deer antlers can naturally fall off (as they regenerate each year for the animal) or they can be molded, or they can be still attached to the head in skull-form. Here are a few really cool options we found when searching out that rustic country touch of mounted antlers.
