What is the opposite of Diplomacy?

Trump’s “worst call by far” with the Australian Prime Minister, an unfortunate Malcolm Turnbull, leaked out very quickly. Which isn’t surprising. It isn’t often a ‘world leader’ rants at an allied nation’s head of government and then abruptly hangs up.

Australia’s “Special Relationship” with the United States of America has always been a little lop sided, with the “history of the alliance is a history of Australian sentimentalism versus American pragmatism”. It is just that historically the USA tends not to be as childishly petulant about it, leaving Australia to metaphorically speaking, shut up, eat shit and smile.

I also just could not get this image out of my head in relation to this story, so obviously I had to have a go at drawing it.

CANA-saurus

An illustration done for a netball association. It was for a CANA event. So obviously I based it on a Camarasaurus.

Mechanical Sharks Again

Another mechanical shark. Though this one is supposedly “inspired” by aircraft parts. Fortunately I have a slight interest in combat aircraft, so I do have a few reference books lying around. I blame all those flight sims and air combat games I played in the 1990s.

A slightly Quadruped Iguanodon

Ok, so maybe the Iguanodon may have been a quadruped after all in a limited fashion and within some species. Though this is a little more recent, and a slightly nuanced position to take on this. However it was interesting to do a quick series of drawings to try and cover a small selection of fairly dominant interpretations of a particular genus over time. Especially one like the Iguanodon.

Revolutionary Running Iguanodon

Not only was tail dragging was a thing of the past, with the Dinosaur Revolution everything ran all the time and did so on two legs. Because everything was a biped. And if it did not look like a biped, it did it at least occasionally. However the Dinosaur Revolution Iguanodon most certainly was a biped. At least from the 1980’s, aside from a few tail dragging lizard-roo hold outs.

A touch of Charles Knight

So this is a little more current. After that mine in Brussels the quadruped Iguanodon was pretty much eradicated. The kangaroo-odon took its place for most of the 20th century.

Up to the minute 1850’s Science

With the release of Jurassic World it seems that retro dinosaurs in all their lizardy tail dragging glory. So with that in mind, here is an 1850’s Iguanodon.
