HP Folio 13 priced at $800 HP

The company’s first ultrabook, the Folio 13 is now available for a lower price tag of $800 at Walmart, about $100 less than the standard model available on HP’s website. With an announced battery life of nine hours, this classic and compact machine has good hardware elements inside.

Powered by a 13.3-inch display and a standard resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, the laptop at Walmart features Intel’s i3 2367M processor clocked at 1.4GHz, 4 GB of RAM memory, 128 SSD memory, a good number of ports, Intel HD Graphics 3000 plus a built-in webcam, Bluetooth and Windows 7 Home Premium.

The online retailer has also other models in stock with higher configurations but for higher prices too. Only the basic model gets a more reasonable price tag. Market analysts expect to see a revolution in sales of ultrabooks, with a new marketing campaign to begin next month. A flood of new models will be hitting the market in the upcoming months, so we hope we’ll get to see a reduction of prices as the number increases.

Toshiba Satellite P885 3D laptop launched 2012 Previews

Toshiba has added its glasses-free 3D technology to its second tier Satellite range with the launch of the P885 laptop. The device also boasts a Blu-ray deck and a HD screen

Toshbia has announced the Satellite P885 laptop, the first in the series to bring the company's glasses-free 3D technology into the mix.

The 15.6-inch Satellite P885 comes boasting a HD screen, Harman Kardon speakers and an Intel iSeries processor along with an NVIDIA 630 GT graphics card and DDR3 memory.

However, it'll be the presence of the glasses-free 3D screen on a mid-range laptop which will really make the headlines. Previously, Tosh had pioneered the tech on laptops like its high-end Toshiba Qosmio F750 3D laptop.

15.6-inch Satellite P885

The laptop allows users to view 2D and 3D content simultaneously, with Tosh explaining that: "Using advanced Toshiba technologies, each model uses a lenticular screen that sends individual images to each eye, creating the illusion of 3D depth in every frame. An integrated webcam tracks the position of the face and adjusts the 3D image accordingly, ensuring an optimum viewing experience is maintained."

The impressively-specced device also features a Blu-ray optical drive and up to 1GB hard-drive. There's also an HDMI out, Bluetooth 4.0 and four USB 3.0 outputs.

The Satellite P885 will go on sale in the second quarter of 2012 for the very reasonable price of £599.

LG Xnote A540 Laptop with 3D launched 2012

Korea's LG Electronics has expanded its Xnote A540 notebook lineup with the 3D-capable A540-T/D and the 2D but AH-IPS equipped A540-P. The first of the group, the glasses-free, 3D-capable A540-H, was introduced at CES. The T/D uses passive 3D glasses and uses the webcam to track users' eyes, maximizing the effect.

The aluminum-bodied notebook can also convert 2D content to 3D when users press a dedicated button. The notebook is SRS Premium Sound 5.1-certified, but only has four speakers and a subwoofer.

All are powered by a quad-core, second-generation Core i7 from Intel and use NVIDIA's GeForce GT555M for graphics.

While release dates weren't shared, they are expected to arrive before the spring. LG will price the basic IPS, non-3D model at 1.93 million won (about $1,700), the base 3D, glasses-free model at 2.25m won (nearly $2,000), and the 3D model that requires glasses at 1.7m won (some $1,500).

Fujitsu Lifebook Ultrabook has been announced

The Japanese company Fujitsu presented at CeBIT show its new LifeBook Ultrabook, a machine that is only 16mm thin and weights 1.4 kg. Featuring a classic look, the laptop will be available in two vivid colors: red and silver.

Fujitsu didn’t have a specific name for its first ultrabook, but it will be part of the Lifebook series. Featuring a full magnesium case, it will be equipped with a 14-inch edge-to-edge screen, a built-in webcam, a good number of ports: two USB 3.0, one USB 2.0 port, HDMI socket, headphone jack and a Kensington Security Slot. Acer uses Nvidia Kepler GPUs for its ultrabooks

As we mentioned in a previous post, Acer has introduced a new ultrabook called Aspire Timeline M3. Unlike other ultra slim and light machines, this one has two new features: an optical drive disc and dedicated graphics. It’s not just any graphics chip, but Nvidia’s 28nm Kepler-architecture GPU.

According to Nvidia, with this new GPU inside, users can play the Battlefield 3 on ultra setting on a screen resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Moreover, Acer Aspire Timeline M3 battery life will last up to eight hours for regular tasks.

Sources from DigiTimes say that Asus is another manufacturer that will also adopt the Kepler GPUs for its forthcoming ultrabooks. It would be interesting to see the price tag for these machines with dedicated GPUs. No details were given about Acer’s upcoming Aspire Timeline M3 machine, but we’ll know more infos by the end of the month.

Gigabyte U2442 Ultrabooks release date

Considered to be a pioneer in the motherboard industry, the taiwanese company Gigabyte has decided to join the ultrabook market and announced the U2442 machines this year at CeBit show. Coming with a slim and light form factor, these two models U2442N and U2442V are portable machines with a simple yet stylish look and a weight of only 1.49Kg.

What about the hardware part? Both ultrabooks will be equipped with Intel’s third generation of processors Ivy Bridge class Core i5 or i7 options, GeForce GT 640M GPU, 2 GB of memory for an excellent gaming experience, a 14-inch screen resolution of 1600×900 pixels, up to 750GB of hard drive or you can opt for a speedy SSD, USB 3.0, Bluetooth 4.0 and Thunderbolt(optional) 2T2R Double Antenna Wi-Fi and more.

Asus preparing two budget-friendly Zenbook ultrabooks Asus

After announcing the second generation of Zenbook series with UX21A and UX31A machines, the company is continuing to expand the family with two more members: UX32A and UX32 Vd. According to the Verge, the UX32Vd and UX31A will be two laptops with Intel’s second generation of processors, Ivy Bridge, both starting at $800.

A price point under $1,000 was Intel’s main goal from the beginning, when the ultrabook concept was announced. A $800 price tag for an ultrabook is actually a good one, knowing that this is an important factor for every consumer.

Both machines will have a 13.3-inch screens, a full range of low-voltage Ivy Bridge chips with the possibility to choose from Core i3-3217U, i5-3317U, or i7-3517U options, depending on everyone’s needs. Interesting, the UX32 Vd comes with a 1GB Nvidia GeForce GT620M graphics card, while the UX32A has an usual integrated graphics card.

While UX21A and UX31A are supposed to have a starting price of $1,100, these two upcoming machines will come at a lower one, with an initial pricing of $800. For $300 less, you won’t bee losing to much, because they have similar tech specs with the UX21A and UX31A.

Offering the same 1920 x 1080 IPS matte display, they will also be equipped with Intel’s Wireless Display technology, so you can connect your laptop to a TV for sharing media content on a bigger screen. There is also 2GB or 4GB of RAM and, sadly, no SSD option included, but you’ll get a 500GB HDD with a 24GB SSD cache.

Not as light as the UX21A and UX32A, with a weight of 1.45kg, but they are quite thin at 18.3mm. No details about an official release date.
