When it comes to photography, the golden hour is usually the best time to shoot. It’s an hour before sunset and an hour after, when the light is warm and golden. But since most of the Mexican Caribbean is on the east coast, the sun doesn’t set over the ocean, so the light gradually fades before sunset. Sometimes, shadows from buildings and structures can make the light even dimmer. We’ll give you the best time of day for a portrait session in your specific location, but a general guideline is a couple of hours before sunset. Avoid the middle of the day when it’s super hot and the shadows are harsh. And don’t forget that any day light can be good If photographer know how to handle situation.

If you’re an early bird, sunrise is the perfect time for portrait sessions in the Riviera Maya and Cancun. You’ll get to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the ocean, and guess what? Everyone else is still in bed! So, you’ll have the beach all to yourself for your photos.

How long do portrait sessions typically last?

Most portrait sessions last around 2 hours. This gives us enough time to capture both formal and creative shots, as well as switch up the location. If you’d like to change outfits, that’s totally fine! But we don’t recommend more than 2 outfits unless you’re comfortable getting changed on location and you’re a speedy changer!

1.- Choose comfortable clothes: Opt for an outfit that allows for easy movement. The last thing you want is something that feels restrictive and makes you feel uncomfortable.
2.- Plan to take photos at golden hour: Plan to take photos during the golden hour, which is the period at the beginning and end of a day when the light is soft and avoids the harsh shadows of midday.
3.- Try going barefoot: Try going barefoot. Being comfortable means looking relaxed and showing that you’re compatible with the setting.

As with many photos, the golden hour, the hour after sunrise and before sunset, allows for soft light and avoids the harsh shadows of midday. This is true regardless of whether it’s the beginning or end of a day.

Sometimes, beaches get crowded in the evenings on weekends in certain locations. Shooting at sunrise provides more space to move around and feel more comfortable, which usually results in better photos.  

Going later and even going a bit past golden hour to enjoy the twilight, the moments just after the sun sets can be incredibly dreamy and romantic and it’s our top! If there’s no sun and it’s an overcast day, the clouds will create a diffusion effect, resulting in amazing results.

The joy of wriggling toes in the sand of beach capitals like Tulum would seem sufficient, but there’s real value in being comfortable. This comfort not only makes you look relaxed but also demonstrates your compatibility with the setting.

HOW MUCH DOES AN ELOPE COST IN MEXICO?

Expect to incur expenses ranging from approximately $10,000 for a modest elopement to $20,000 for a more elaborate elopement.

WITNESSES AND OFFICIANTS FOR MEXICO ELOPEMENTS

The officiant for a legal marriage in Mexico is typically from the civil registry of the local municipality where the ceremony will take place. To legally marry in Mexico, you must have at least four witnesses present.

Alternatively, if you prefer a symbolic ceremony, you can engage a freelance officiant. In this case, you will only need to have the symbolic officiant and your loved ones present. 

It is noteworthy that a friend of mine, who was officiant for elopements and weddings, he possessed an exceptional ability to evoke emotions, which led him as stand-up comedian.

While the possibility of inclement weather on your elopement day may be concerning, it is prudent to have contingency plans in place. Consider securing a venue that provides indoor accommodations or bringing stylish umbrellas for unexpected rainy-day photo shoots.

Regardless of the weather, we view this as an opportunity to capture exceptional elopement photographs.

How to Get a Marriage License in Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum

In Mexico, civil marriages are legally recognized globally. To obtain a civil marriage certificate, you must visit the Registro Civil office and present the following documents:

It is important to recognize that this is a common experience, and most couples discuss this with me. This is precisely why I have compiled some of the most effective tips I possess for ensuring that you appear and feel your best during your engagement session.

Cultivate Your Personal Style and Prioritize Comfort in Your Wardrobe Choices

Prioritize comfort and personal style when selecting your engagement attire. Comfort is paramount, as discomfort can be evident on camera. Trust your intuition when choosing outfits that make you feel confident. Some couples opt for elaborate, dressed-up outfits, while others prefer a more casual yet polished look.

Most couples choose to wear two outfits during their engagement session: one for a casual date and another for a formal occasion. This approach provides two distinct looks, with the casual outfit often serving as a warm-up for the formal session.

If you prefer a touch of elegance, don’t hesitate to embrace it. Your engagement session is an ideal opportunity to wear a fun, dressed-up outfit that you might not normally wear. Long, flowing dresses and skirts are visually appealing on camera, adding movement that enhances your natural beauty. Before delving into this section, I want to assure you that you will look absolutely stunning at your session. However, it is important to acknowledge that you are human and it is natural to have certain features that you may be self-conscious about. This section is intended to provide guidance if you suspect that you may be overly critical of certain aspects of your appearance. If this resonates with you, the most effective strategy is to identify any areas that you may be self-conscious about and select clothing that best complements those feelings. When you wear clothes that make you feel comfortable and confident, you will naturally exude that confidence on camera.

Here are some common areas of concern:

Arms: Three-quarter length sleeves can create a slimming effect on all arms. Consider bringing a stylish jacket, blazer, or cardigan along. Skinny straps or strapless dresses can have the opposite effect, so it is advisable to avoid them if you find yourself fixated on your arms.

Legs: Heels tend to elongate the appearance of women’s legs, particularly closed-toe heels. If you decide to wear peep-toe heels, ensure that you have well-groomed toenails prior to your session.

Empty your pockets, literally. This advice is particularly pertinent to men. Regrettably, you may find it disconcerting to see your mobile phone or keys protruding from your pockets.

Professional hair and makeup can be an exceptional choice for enhancing your wedding appearance. It not only creates a visually stunning look but also alleviates the stress associated with self-care. Additionally, it serves as an effective means of bolstering your confidence.

If your wedding is within a local vicinity, your engagement session presents an ideal opportunity to conduct a makeup trial. Initially, it may be challenging to feel comfortable with the amount of makeup applied, as it surpasses what would typically be worn on a regular day.

Engaging in this trial during your engagement session allows you to observe how the makeup translates onto the camera. Remember that there is no recourse on your wedding day, making this a prudent step to ensure your satisfaction.

This was a brief cozy 4 hours wedding that had more laughs and happy faces, love so much happy people in just 4 hours

Nicki got ready in the bridal suite of Blue Venado, right in the same place that Ceremony held, she could see her venue spot to get ready while people set it up, so exciting I think!

When Thomas arrived we prepared the classical fist look with a bit modified, bride and groom actually won’t see each other, instead they will stay back to back and touch holding hands, in my opinion this is fabulous!

Why I said this, because when they see each other in the ceremony they still have amazing reactions which foes not happen when they actually see each other before ceremony

We had a super fun shot since Nicki where so happy and enjoying every single moment, we did some portraits in Blue Venado property and then head to the Cenote for an exotic jungle photos

And finally we could get into the fresh water of the cenote for an underwater photos, I won’t say more, love everything!
