With Bob Bernhardt conducting and Ted Rosenthal on piano, the “Gershwin and the American Songbook” performance includes such classics as Rhapsody in Blue, Moon River and more. (DETROIT, December 21, 2011) — In celebration of the last American troops’ departure from Iraq and as a way to say thank you for their dedicated service, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) is making a special homecoming offer to recently-returned military personnel, beginning Monday, Jan. 2. For the rest of the season, military personnel who returned home this year may receive up to two free tickets to all Orchestra Hall Classical and Jazz concerts. Seating is subject to availability and excludes box level. Limit two tickets per performance. Tickets must be reserved within two weeks of the performance. Must show valid deployment orders upon ticket retrieval.
Military tickets are available by visiting the Max M. Fisher Music Center Box Office (3711 Woodward Ave.) or by calling (313) 576-5111. Box office hours are Mon, Tues, Fri. 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Wed, Thurs. 12 p.m.-7 p.m.; and Sat. 1 p.m.-5 p.m.

This weekend’s webcast will also include Schubert’s “Unfinished” Symphony and Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 3, which is being recorded for the Naxos label. This season, “Live From Orchestra Hall” has been viewed by more than 10,000 viewers in more than 35 countries. These webcasts are produced in partnership with Detroit Public Television.
