You may be familiar with terms such as Bali is island of thousands temple, island of gods and so on. Well, I want to add one term of my own, Bali is Island of Black Magic. This is true since black magic seems to be the integral part of Balinese people. It is not only practiced in Balinese daily life but also in their spiritual life. Here is what happens in Western world, if there is a crime it will involve guns etc, here in Bali black magic replaces the gun. So if you have problem with Balinese people, most likely you will be ’shot’ to death not by gun but by black magic. How does it work? Well I wish I knew the details.

The most dangerous black magic in Bali is called bebainan. I swear to Satan that I do not know how to translate this term in English. Bebainan is practiced by some Balinese black paranormal that aimed to kill the victim slowly but surely. It works using special spelling called mantras and normally it also need picture and the name of the victim. Once the mantras started to work, the victim will feel something is not right with her/himself such as easily get sick without clear causes. When he/she goes to hospital, they don’t even detect any medical problems. Sometimes, you will find a completely weird things in the victim’s stomach such as knife, fork, needles and the like. How would you explain scientifically if there is suddenly a fork in your stomach? The solution? Go to both places, priest and hospital. Go to the priest to neutralize the spell and also go to hospital to take the things out.

Other famous Balinese black magic is called Leak. It is not an accidental hole that allows something (fluid or light etc.) to enter or escape. Leak is Balinese traditional mystic practice which is originally aimed to heal people traditionally. But later Leak often has negative connotation. It is a magic practice that enable Balinese people to turn him/herself into another being such as animals. A Balinese leak expert could easily change him/herself into monkey, for instance.

1. Each person is prohibited to produce, to create, to multiply, to copy, to distribute, to broadcast, to import, to export, to offer, to trade, to rent or to provide any kind of pornography which contain the following:
a. Sexual intercourse including anomalous sexual intercourse
b. Violence in sexual intercourse
c. Masturbation
d. Nudity
e. Vagina/penis

2. Each person is prohibited to provide any pornography service that:
a. Showing explicitly any kind of nudity
b. Showing/exploiting sexual intercourse activity or
c. Offering/advertising both directly and not directly, a pornography service

Article 5
Each person is prohibited to use children as an object as mentioned in Article 4

Article 6
Each person is prohibited to lend or to download as mentioned in Article 4 point (1)

Article 7
Each person is prohibited to make it listenable, to make it viewable, to use, to own or to save any kind of pornography as mentioned in Article 4 point (1). An exception is only made for those who are given special authority by certain law such as:
a.Indonesia Content Rating System
b.Indonesian Broadcasting Commission
c.Law Enforcement Officers
d.Public Health Service (hospital etc)
e.Educational institution such as medical faculty, health academy etc)
This exception is valid only if it takes place at the respective institution.

Article 8
Each person is prohibited to finance or to facilitate any activity as mentioned in Article 4

Article 9
Each person is prohibited to intentionally become an object or model which contain pornography as mentioned in Article 4

Article 10
Each person is prohibited to make other person as an object or model which contain pornography.

Article 11
Each person is prohibited to show her/himself in front of public or live show which contain pornography, sexual exploitation, sexual intercourse or any other kind of pornography

Article 12
Each person is prohibited to invite, to persuade, to let, authority abuse or to force children to use service and pornography product.

Creating, broadcasting and using sexual material is allowed only for:
a. art and culture show purposes
b. ritual and traditional/local custom

CHAPTER I

GENERAL TERMS

Article 1

1. Pornography is sexual materials (haha what the hell does sexual materials mean?) which are created by man in the forms of pictures, sketches, illustration, photos, writing, voice, audio, motion picture, animation, poetry, conversation, body language or in other forms which are published using various media of communication or in public show that could raise sexual desires and against the moral/ethic values in the society
2. Pornography service is any kind of pornography service provided by individual or corporate which is delivered by the following means: public show, cable TV, terrestrial TV, radio, telephone, internet and other type of electronic communication such as newspaper, magazines and the like.
3. A person is an individual or corporation either with or without a law firm
4. Children are people who are under 18 years old.
5. The government is the central government lead by the President of Republic of Indonesia as mentioned by the UUD 1945.
6. The local government is governor, the regent or mayor and other local staff

Article 2

This anti pornography law is based on the principle of Ketuhanan Yang Maha Esa a.k.a One and the Only God, in order to appreciate the human dignity, the value of pluralism, the spirit of law enforcement, anti-discrimination, and to protect every citizen of Indonesia.

Article 3

This anti pornography law is aiming at:
a. to establish and maintain an ethical society, good personality and always appreciate with utmost the values of the principle of God and the Only God and also to respect human dignity
b. to teach and to educate people the meaning of moral
c. to protect citizens especially children from the danger of pornography and
d. to prevent the spread of pornography and commercial sex in the society.

Despite of all opposition against it, the Indonesia’s authorities has passes an anti pornography law recently. The local government of Bali has officially issued a statement that Bali will not endorse the law and is planning to submit a judicial review toward it. Why Bali seems to be super reluctant to the anti porn bill? Because it is still absurd. The law itself contains so many articles that are not clear yet and could endanger the tourism of Bali such as the definition of the pornography itself. Roughly the law said that it against the la to show some part of your body to the public which can raise sexual desire.

The big question is how do we measure if something consider pornography could raise a sexual desire? Let say, people in Kuta are familiar with those tourists in the beach wearing only bikinis, sometimes topless etc. It is part of their daily life. Is it a pornography? If this law is applied in Bali, what those tourists in the beach need to be worn? Do they need to wear jeans on long sleeve top? Come people, especially those who make the law, be realistic. Indonesia is a heterogeneous nation, you can not dictate all people to wear certain kind of clothing. What will happen with Balinese dance called Kecak? They all topless.

I am wondering that the release of this anti-porn law is some kind of a big scenario from a certain group of people. This is quotation from news.bbc.co.uk,

Finally the moment has come. Amrozi cs will be executed early this month. Although there is no exact date and time published by the authorities, most likely Amrozi cs will be shot to dead before the 5th of November 2008. There is only one word for them, go to Hell. Oh and now you still believe that you would be welcomed by the seven beautiful angels upon your death? I do not think so, no angels in the Hell dude. Yeah you may meet the hell whore. According to local newspaper, Amrozi cs will be shot to death somewhere in Nusa Kambangan area. Then their dead bodies will be transported to their home village by air (plane and chopper).Do I hear someone talking about human rights for them? Oh and please ask for it to the family members of the Bali bombing victims. I even do not understand why it takes so long before dead penalties is applied to them.
