Spring is always hopping with several overlapping events, but here at Telerik we are still hard at work through the hot summer months! Here are some exciting new updates on our community front to kick off the summer around the world!

Two *New* Telerik Insiders: Stephen Bohlen and Esteban Garcia have joined our Insiders program as of last month. We are thrilled and honored they approached us regarding the program and given their expertise and passion in the Agile and .NET space, they are perfect matches. Thank you guys!

Stephen is headed to Kansas City Developer Conference this June and he is conducting two user group tours in Michigan in July and Maryland/DC area in August. Esteban will speak at Atlanta Code Camp in June and also at devLink in August.

Stir Trek Wrap Up

Stir Trek was awesome. Where else can you get a full day of great content *and* watch Thor, all as part of one conference? Phil gave a new talk on "Testing Legacy Code" that covered the patterns and tools needed to effectively work with software that is not adequately covered by unit or integration test. The slides and source code can be downloaded from his blog. He also demonstrated the features of JustMock (both the Free Edition and the Commercial Edition) during lunch as a vendor session, and the full version can be seen on Telerik TV.

Above are photos of the Thor display from the lobby and Phil at the Telerik booth collecting several hundred cards for the 20" Samsung Monitor give away which went to Sean Kelly! Also, Corey Lansford won a free Telerik Ultimate Colleciton license. Congrats guys! Enjoy your prizes.

The guys who run Stir Trek do a fantastic job. Emily & Phil both had great conversations with the local midwest developers and current Telerik customers. This was our third year sponsoring the event and we will definitely be back to sponsor next year.

Telerik Insiders Are Out

For you community dwellers, this may not be new news – but we are very excited to officially publicize our Telerik Insiders Program: a speaker’s bureau for the community run by Telerik.

The Insiders Program is comprised of 14 (thus far) passionate and influential speakers conducting a variety of sessions at community events and user groups. Check out their profiles and abstracts here and our FAQ page for detailed information.

Even more exciting news - we’ve expanded this program into the European and Australian markets! (Check out today's Press Release for details) There we will continue our commitment to supporting the local developer community, with upcoming sessions at events like DDD Melbourne, DDD Sydney as well as a UK user group tour by Insider Gill Cleeren this summer. Our growth into these regions is timely with our recent office openings in UK and Aussie.

A little history on how the Telerik Insiders program was born:

Back in 2008 when I joined Telerik, I quickly recognized the value that the developer community can provide to the .NET world. Since then, I’ve been advocating for the support of such programs both internally and externally. Supporting these initiatives is essential to strengthening the developer industry and spreading knowledge across the world with a grass roots approach. Within a few short months, the worst part of the recession hit and it strongly affected the volunteer and non-profit world. We began to notice a lack of support for many groups and some were completely falling apart. At this time, it was 2009 and we began brainstorming more effective programs for user group support.

Late 2009 we held a community happy hour at PDC in LA, where I first met Chris Eargle; an outstanding and charismatic speaker out of South Carolina doing over 50 sessions per year on his own dime. We began discussing how we might be able to collaborate in the community. We agreed that if he’d like to incorporate a Telerik product offering into his session or simply mention our sponsorships, we could help with his travel expenses. This caught on very fast with user groups and events, so we opened it up to other speakers in other regions like the heartland of America. More than few groups were struggling to get top notch speakers to come and speak, so we began focusing on ‘off the beaten path’ groups. Soon enough we grew to 10+ speakers in 1 year – thus the Insiders Program was born. In a short time, we were able to quickly make a difference in the community, which was very much appreciated by the community.

Nurturing the developer community is very near and dear to my heart. I always believed that giving back to others is the best thing you can do as it puts out an energy that always comes back around when you need it most. I’ve been fortunate enough to work for a company that shares this same passion and allows me to run such programs with flexibility and trust. One thing I am learning is that developers can do a lot more for the world behind a computer than you could ever imagine. Thank you to all those who’ve contributed to your community! We are looking forward to growing our programs over the years.

ALM Summit Wrap Up

A bit tired this morning, we're chilling with the remaining swag at our lunch table and about to wrap up. But we just got interupted as one of the speakers is conducting his session in the lunch room. Eric from EMC has decided to speak to the group about their tweets acknowledging that everyone is sick of Agile talk and wants something new. He's asked everyone who has an issue to come up and announce their problems (not personal ;)) and seek out a group to provide advice. Actually a very impressive conference move. They also asked everyone to play musical chairs. Nicely done, very Agile of you #ALMSummit.

Moving on, at the tech reception last night, we had quit a few demos and inquiries about TeamPulse. Yes, we have TFS integration and no you don't have to have it. Check out TeamPulse if you want to learn more. The attendees really kept Dave Harris busy firing questions at him left & right.

Our party at Parlor Billiards was a hit last night. We doubled our expected attendance and the guys & gals enjoyed both the billiards and the free drinks & apps. It was a relaxed atmosphere with lots of ideas and strategy between playing pool and discussing the conference. Thanks to everyone for coming!

As for give a ways, I'd like to congratulate our Samsung HD LED monitor winner - Glenn Thimmes from Utah. He was telling his friends last night he never wins anything, but we've proved him wrong :-). Enjoy your brand new monitor!

Also, congrats to Chad Green from the Louisville .NET Meet Up Group leader who won the Digital Photo Frame seen below. He happens to be planning the event CodePalooza coming up next spring which Telerik will be sponsoring. Check it out if you're interested in attending.

Day 1 Recap - ALM Summit

The first day of the ALM Summit 2010 was great. We've met a lot of talented leaders in the industry and many friendly people. Approximately 200 folks made it here to the MS Redmond campus today. Our Hawaiian & Agilista shirts definitely stand out in the crowd. Many of the attendees are current Telerik users and its great to have a chance to promote our new products to them.

The atmosphere is relaxed with lots of dynamic conversations flowing. Attendees are mostly project or development leaders and are looking for help in dealing with their development headaches. TeamPulse is definitely on their radar to assist, especially now with the TFS sync!

Telerik is raffling off THREE digital photo frames (1 each day) as well as a 24" Samsung HD LED computer monitor with 1080P during the technical reception tomorrow night! To enter to win, attendees just need to drop off a business card in the lunch room (Rainier) where we are camping out during the breaks & sessions. Dave Harris from Telerik is here conducting TP demos & addressing ?s. We have plenty of swag to give out including stress building blocks, t-shirts and Agilista USB wristbands. As for the sessions, sounds like everyone is enjoying them, especially Dave West's talk this morning. But as usual the conversations in the hallways seem to provide the most value to attendees.

I must give credit to Tanya Young and Keith Pleas as the event (AFAIK) has gone off like a hitch and the food happens to be delicious. Here's a quick photo of lunch.

Back in Berlin again after a year: more products, more people.

It's almost impossible to keep up with all the new products, so we had basically to double our staff to make sure that attendees find an expert for each product:

The week is starting smooth on the first day with some pre-conference sessions and the exhibition will officially open after lunch.
