“When I was 14, a friend and I were going through a box of old costume jewelry that
she found in the back room of this house she had recently moved in to.  I found a
nickle sized pendant, in the shape of a halfmoon infront of a full moon face.  I
wore it for years without taking it off.  The river I was swimming in finally
claimed it and since then, I have been looking for the same pendant wherever I go. 
 Then, I go to visit my husband who works at a Barnes and Noble.  I
spotted your deck, loved it and I bought it for myself (which I know you’re not
supposed to do but I did it anyway.)  So I get it home and open it and what do I see
but the exact half moon face that I stared at in the mirror for years, right there
in the deck.
I guess that I just wanted to say thanks for getting that image back to me so that I
can enjoy it once again.  I really appreciate it!”

I wrote back to her and asked which card reminded her of her long lost pendant….

Wow!  Thanks so much for responding.
Temperance.  I was looking through them the first time and when I got to her I said
“Hey, I know you.” out loud.  My nine year old daughter shot me that “Mom, your
talking to inanimate objects again.”  She really should be used to it by now, all
the stuff in our apartment seems to be fine with it.  My machines at work always do
better if there’s a “Please and Thank You” in it for them.

I remember wearing that pendant on a chord of green cotton embroidery thread that I
square knotted into a necklace.  My family was very, very Southeast Missourian
Religious.  So any thing could be taken as devil worship, especially if it had a
moon on it.  It was always my secret, I never took it off.  
I had a swimming hole that I went to when I needed to be by myself.  One day after
diving in, I came up for air and the necklace was gone.  I wasn’t sad or anything
and I didn’t try to find it.  I just thought, “Ok, I’ve come here a lot and this
river has always kept me safe and made me feel better.  If it really wanted that
trinket, it would be a very small price to pay for what it gives me.”  I always try
to be grateful before anything else and it was a good lesson in letting go.

The September issue of OPRAH MAGAZINE has a full page ad/feature of Dolce & Gabbana’s new “Fragrance Anthology”. It seems this line of perfume is “tarot” based and a few images from the Deviant Moon Tarot are used! Strange dreams never smelled so sweet!

I think it is great to see “tarot” used in such a “mainstreamed” way! 

—-I have spent the summer working very hard on the illustrations for my upcoming children’s book. Even though I worked day and night, I didn’t get as far as I hoped for, the reason being the drawings turned out to be FAR more detailed and involved than I thought.  Most pages have a dozen or so characters running around, so it is a great challenge to get all of their interactions down!  Hopefully, the project will be done before winter.

—-I have figured out that I have four different tarot decks still inside of me (Deviant’s Sister one of them), and I will be mixing in their creation in between the next few children’s books. I believe the next edition of Deviant Moon (Reprint) will be out in a few weeks!

—-I will begin to update the blog again with more card insights this month, but I may go out of order to answer some questions I have been getting.  I also have some strange dreams to tell you about!
