Good Morning to you

very sorry not blogged lately been very busy with the you tube channel and twitter etc its been manic but very good for the company and all you lovely people that advertise.
Being in the advertising business for as long as i have now you get to see all sorts on a daily basis and meet all types of people some great and some not so lol but over the last week or so i have had the pleasure to meet a lovely lady called Liz Hore who owns the Victoria Inn and the White Hart in Modbury so its a very warm wlecome to her as she joins the fastest growing advertising company in the devon area

John Penrose MP announced as the new Minister for Tourism

It has been announced that John Penrose MP is the new Minister for Tourism, although his exact title is yet to be confirmed.

His constituency is Weston-Super-Mare (where he has been an MP since 2005), so he will have an inherent understanding of the importance of tourism.

He has a strong business background, having worked in his earlier career for management consultants McKinsey and in banking for JPMorgan. In the Shadow Cabinet he was Minister for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform. He was also a member of both the Regulatory Reform and Work & Pensions Select Committees.

Prior to being elected to Parliament, he was a publisher and Chairman of Logotron Ltd, a small independent company creating educational software for schools, and used to be Managing Director of Longman, publishing school textbooks for the UK and parts of Africa. He has aslo worked in publishing for Thomson.

John lives with his wife in his constituency, in the village of Winscombe. His hobbies are fishing and beekeeping, and he is also chair of the All-Party Honey Bees Group. He is fluent in French and German.

Financial journalists are increasingly embracing digital platforms and social media, according to Broadgate Mainland's 2010 digital trends survey.The research suggests that almost four in ten financial journalists are now active on Twitter, with 70 per cent of those who use the platform finding it invaluable to keep abreast of developments in their field. Almost 60 per cent said they used Twitter to actively search for news.

The survey also reveals that three quarters of financial journalists now class themselves as multimedia journalists, rather than journalists concentrating on a single media.

However, financial services companies are lagging behind somewhat in their use of digital. Half of all journalists complain that the websites of financial services companies are not easy to navigate or lack the information that they need, with the main gripe being that press releases are not updated frequently enough. Journalists pointed to the website of the Financial Services Authority as the best example of good digital practice.

Sarah Evans-Toyne, head of digital at Broadgate Mainland, said: 'The financial services industry has been a slow adopter of digital communications techniques, largely because of regulatory concerns. However, our 2010 digital trends survey supports the emerging evidence that digital channels are becoming increasingly powerful and persuasive. PR advisers need to adapt to the changes in the communications landscape to provide information in the way that suits the needs of most journalists.'

Additionally, journalists are interacting more with their audience. Some 70 per cent of financial journalists say their editorial views are affected by online comments on their stories or blogs from readers.
