Even though there is a 3.5-year gap between them, Dexter: Resurrection serves as a direct sequel to Dexter: New Blood. The latter was always intended to be a limited series and the definitive ending to Dexter Morgan's story, following Michael C. Hall's request to conclude the character's journey in a single season.

But to the surprise of many fans, Dexter: Resurrection unexpectedly became a reality. The decision was welcomed by viewers, especially after years of criticism directed at the ending of Dexter: New Blood across social media.

While Dexter: New Blood and Dexter: Resurrection are nearly identical from a technical point of view, sharing the same aspect ratio and a very similar title sequence, many viewers out there have noticed that the two series feel very different. A newly released Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 set video is here to give us one of the best looks yet at what is currently being filmed in New York City.

More importantly, the footage appears to show Dexter Morgan and Charley Brown working together on a mysterious mission, suggesting even further, that the former rivals will be allies in the upcoming season.

The intriguing sequence was apparently filmed on the same night as recently released set photos featuring Michael C. Hall and Uma Thurman. While those images created plenty of discussion among fans, this new video reveals something even more exciting, which is an actual scene being filmed for Season 2.

Previous images from the Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 set had already hinted that Dexter and Charley would no longer be enemies. Each of these women was completely different, actually proving that Dexter Morgan somehow has a way of attracting every type of woman.

After a season of Dexter: Resurrection that featured no serious romantic relationship (aside from a brief flirtation with Mia Lapierre) all signs now point to Dexter finding love once again. This time, however, it looks like it will be unlike anything we've seen before.

It appears that Dexter and the former special ops operative who once worked for Leon Prater are about to leave their rivalry behind. In the upcoming season, the two seem destined to become romantically involved. That's what makes Charley unique.

At this point she knows the complete story. There are no missing pieces, or secrets left to uncover, and not a... false version of Dexter for her to fall in love with.

Filming for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 continues at an unstoppable pace in New York City, with production now entering its eighth consecutive week. While Week 7 was unusually quiet when it came to photos from the set, Week 8 (thankfully) is already off to a strong start with brand-new pics that tease an unexpected alliance.

Earlier today, Michael C. Hall was spotted filming exterior scenes somewhere in New York City alongside Uma Thurman. The photos, once again captured and shared by Bauer-Griffin, show the two actors both in character and between takes during what actually appears to be a very interesting scene. In fact, these latest images further support the theory that Dexter Morgan and Charley Brown could be forming a partnership in Season 2.

The possibility was already hinted at in previous set photos, although those images appeared to suggest a romantic dinner and little else. These brand-new photos from the June 2 set, however, take things a step further. Dexter and Charley seem to have moved beyond their troubled history and may now be working together as allies.

In the new images, Dexter Morgan and Charley Brown appear to be carrying out some kind of mission. Uma Thurman's character is dressed entirely in black and is once again wearing the same sunglasses seen throughout Season 1, something that is enough to make the scene special and also purposefull.

At first, the pair were actually seen standing beside a parked black car, which could potentially belong to Charley. The presence of a camera operator filming directly in front of them suggests the cameras were actively rolling, with Hall and Thurman fully in character.

The main focus of the scene, however, appears to be the entrance of a nearby house. Both Dexter and Charley were photographed entering and exiting a green door at a building marked with the number 67. At this point, it's impossible to know who lives there, but if these characters are indeed working together, the most likely theory is that they are tracking a serial killer or investigating a potential target.

Based on everything we've actually seen throughout the first eight weeks of filming, Dexter and Charley seem to be getting along surprisingly well. That's a complete 180 from the dynamic we became accustomed to, especially during the final episodes of Season 1. It is definitely something refreshing, that opens the door to many exciting possibilities for Season 2.

The romance angle still is particularly interesting. Set photos from Week 6 appeared to show Dexter and Charley sharing an intimate dinner, complete with wine and hand-holding. These latest images may reveal the other side of their evolving relationship, which is not just romance, but a genuine alliance.

"I'm excited for the fans, and I'm having a blast," she added.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the original Dexter series, which premiered on Showtime on October 1, 2006. Looking back at every chapter of the franchise (from the original series to its sequels and prequel) there are many elements that helped make Dexter seperate itself from other TV dramas. One of the most distinctive things has always been Dexter Morgan's inner monologue.

The voiceover gives us direct access to the mind of a man living a double life. It allows the audience to understand exactly what Dexter is thinking, creating a special connection between the character and the viewer. But, over the years, many fans have wondered the same thing: who is Dexter Morgan actually talking to?

Michael C. Hall recently shared his own interpretation.

After weeks of waiting, the Dexter: Resurrection cast conversation from 5/14 is finally available to watch.

Thursday, May 14, was an extremely busy day for several cast and crew members of Dexter: Resurrection. In addition to filming in New York City, they also had two scheduled appearances later that evening at different locations to help promote the show's first season.

Some of you may be wondering why. This is actually the time of year when networks actively promote the shows they believe have the strongest chance of earning Emmy Award recognition. Following the show's For Your Consideration event, the cast headed to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation's Robin Williams Center for another special conversation.

Michael C. Hall, Jack Alcott, David Zayas, Krysten Ritter, and Eric Stonestreet shared stories, behind-the-scenes details, and interesting insights into their work and performances in Dexter: Resurrection Season 1. The discussion was moderated by Jessica Shaw as part of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversations series, which gives casts an opportunity to discuss their experiences, and creative process.

While the conversation doesn't really reveal anything significant about the upcoming second season, it's still a very entertaining watch for every fan. Since the cast screened Episode 4, "Call Me Red," much of the discussion focused on that particular episode. Not only did it bring several major guest stars together, but it actually provided some interesting behind-the-scenes stories and production insights.

All five actors appeared to be in great spirits as they reflected on their experiences filming Season 1 and revisited some memorable moments from the series. Thankfully, after more than two weeks since it happened, the who thing is finally available to watch on YouTube.

No, Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Isn’t Going Global—Director’s Istanbul Tease Was Just “a Joke”

Following an Instagram post by director Marcos Siega, many people mistakenly assumed the upcoming season would also take place on a different continent.

The second season of Dexter: Resurrection is currently deep into production, and recently director and executive producer Marcos Siega jumped on Instagram with what looked like a simple behind-the-scenes update. It was meant as a joke, but actually ended up causing confusion among fans who took it way more seriously than expected.

During the seventh week of production, which has been unusually quiet in terms of set updates, Siega posted a reel captioned “Dexter: Resurrection production update.” The post included two behind-the-scenes selfies from somewhere in New York City. In the first one, he appears alongside writer Scott Reynolds and a couple of crew members, with a playful caption suggesting “location scouting in Istanbul.”

The second image shows Siega wearing a wig, with another joke caption saying the location scouting “was a bust” but that he picked up a cool new... jacket instead.

Even though it was definitely meant as humor, which is exactly why we ignored it here at Dexter Daily, a large part of the fanbase, and even some outlets, started to believe that the production of Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 might actually be heading to Istanbul for filming.

That surprisingly led many people to think Dexter Morgan might travel to another continent in the new season.

What followed was an unexpected amount of confusion, with fans reacting as if real location scouting was happening there! The post spread fast, and the joke basically turned into a rumor before it could be properly understood.

Marcos Siega later seemed genuinely surprised by how far things went. Around 24 hours after the original post, and after dozens of messages from people asking him to appear as an extra, he updated the caption to clear things up and wrote:

“UPDATE ON THIS LAST UPDATE! Many of you didn’t get the very obvious joke. For those of you asking for work in Istanbul or who think we are filming in Istanbul. Unfortunately, we are not. Please read the post carefully. For those of you who understood the joke…we can be friends.”

At this point, it’s obvious that the Istanbul idea was never real. Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 continues to film in New York City and surrounding areas, with no indication that production is moving overseas. It would also be highly unlikely for the series to suddenly change major filming locations to a place roughly 5,000 miles away at this stage.

If Dexter Morgan ever does appear outside the United States again, it is far more possible to be done the same way the OG series has handled international settings before, through visual effects and studio work (green screen) rather than actual on-location shoots.

If you paid enough attention, that approach was already used in the original series for moments set in places like Paris and Buenos Aires, where scenes were created using controlled production techniques instead of filming abroad.

So despite the buzz, there is no Istanbul storyline or surprise overseas shoot planned. For now, Dexter: Resurrection remains based in New York, and this latest rumor is actually nothing but a case of a joke getting a little too far out of hand.

Is Dexter Morgan Autistic? What Dexter’s Writers Said About the Fan Theory

For years, fans have questioned whether Dexter Morgan is autistic, and surprisingly, the writers have actually addressed the theory.

Ever since Dexter returned in Dexter: Resurrection, one debate has started popping up everywhere again: Is Dexter Morgan actually autistic?

It is something that has been discussed for years across social media, and fan forums, but lately the conversation has continued thanks to the big wave of new viewers discovering the OG series. Some fans believe Dexter was never truly a psychopath at all and instead, they see him as an autistic person shaped by severe childhood trauma and years of being told by Harry to believe he was some kind of an emotionless monster.

We have to admit that it is an interesting theory, especially when you look closely at Dex’s behavior throughout the series. But... according to the people behind the series like Clyde Phillips and Scott Reynolds, the answer has actually been pretty straightforward. Dexter Morgan was written as a psychopath from the very beginning, not as an autistic character.

A lot of the discussion definitely comes from the fact that some of Dexter’s traits match with experiences many autistic viewers recognize in themselves.

One of the biggest examples is the way Dexter constatly “masks” around other people. Throughout every season, his inner monologues focus on pretending to be normal. He studies human behavior well, practices facial expressions, forces himself into chit chat, and even had the routine of bringing donuts to work to blend in with his colleagues. For many viewers out there, that actually is very similar to how autistic people describe masking in real life.

There’s also Dexter’s strong focus on blood spatter analysis, especially during the Miami Metro era. While he’s very skilled and was very invested in his work, outside of that environment, he often struggled to connect with people or engage in everyday social interactions, something that still happens in Dexter: Resurrection as well.

His dependence on structure and routine is also something else worth mentioning. Even to this day, Dex mostly follows Harry’s rules as they are written, and rarely listens to his gut instinct. And whenever something goes wrong, he actually tends to spiral or lose control.

Because of all this, some fans argue Dexter doesn’t resemble how psychopaths are typically portrayed on television. Instead, his awkwardness, emotional confusion, and effort to... “fit in” seem much more relatable to autistic experiences for some viewers.

However, when the OG Dexter series premiered nearly 20 years ago, the writers were not trying to explore autism or neurodivergence. They took the risk of creating a detached serial killer as the main character, and at the time, other shows mostly used emotional disconnect and poor social skills to present psychopathy.

And that similarity wasn’t intentional.

Dexter’s trauma also plays a very important role in shaping who he actually becomes. Witnessing the brutal murder of his mother as a child left him psychologically damaged, and the show consistently presents that trauma as the main reason for the man he became.

With Dexter: Resurrection continuing the same version of the character, it is also extremely unlikely the writers will suddenly... redefine Dexter as autistic in a future season. Doing something like that would in fact create something very different, especially because autism is a real world neurodevelopmental condition with no connection to violence or serial killers.

What is interesting, is that the sequel series has already shown that the team behind the show actually know how to intentionally write neurodivergent characters when they want to. Detective Claudette Wallace, played by Kadia Saraf, shows some clearly written neurodivergent traits, including a strong attention to detail among other things.

That’s one reason fans think Dexter’s autism-like traits were not intentional. Instead, it is likely just a product of... older TV writing. Based on the source material (Jeff Lindsay’s novels) the show actually tried to portray a character who didn’t fit in, and they accidentally made him deeply human and relatable to many people out there.

Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Theory Says the New York Ripper Is Secretly Blood-Related to This Major Character

Based on a recent behind-the-scenes interaction between these two characters, a wild fan theory now suggests they may actually be related.

One thing Dexter fans love to do is theorize. Even after the casting of Brian Cox revealed that he portrays Don Framt, fans actually continue to speculate about the character. Many viewers weren’t happy that the reveal happened through casting news instead of the show itself, but that hasn’t stopped the discussions online. And now, a new theory has emerged that is definitely one of the most intriguing so far.

Warning: The following contains spoiler-related descriptions based on existing set photos from filming.

More specifically, two separate theories sent to us by Dexter Daily readers Simon and Helen both arrived at the same conclusion. That Don Framt, the New York Ripper, could secretly be blood-related to a major character in Dexter: Resurrection. And that character is none other than Detective Claudette Wallace. According to the theory, Framt could either be Wallace’s uncle, or even more shocking, her father.

Yes, that Claudette Wallace. The same detective who has spent decades chasing the elusive and now-retired serial killer, even before she officially joined the NYPD.

What the Set Photos Reveal

As crazy as this theory sounds, fans believe there is actual evidence in the set photos from Season 2 Episode 3 that supports it. The theory mainly comes from an interaction between Kadia Saraf and Brian Cox while filming and rehearsing an outdoor scene.

According to these two fans who took a close look at the images, Wallace and Framt seemed familiar with each other, almost like two people who had known each other for many years. At one point, Wallace was even seen trying to discipline him and briefly attempting to cover his mouth with her hand, all in front of fellow NYPD officers.

As we mentioned when those photos first surfaced online, the scene involves the NYPD, led by Wallace and Melvin Oliva, investigating a crime scene in downtown Manhattan. Don Framt, the New York Ripper, was actually standing among a crowd of civilians watching from behind the police tape. At some point during the scene, Framt appeared to yell something toward the detective(s), prompting Wallace to immediately react and confront him without hesitation.

This latest Dexter: Resurrection theory is definitely one of the wildest we have seen so far for Season 2, and some fans are convinced the clues are there. But... are they really what they seem?

Why It Might (or Might Not) Happen

Right now, there’s simply no way to know. While the theory is entertaining, and probably crossed the minds of many fans who saw those particular set photos, it still sounds a bit too far-fetched to actually happen.

Some of you might even compare it to Debra Morgan’s storyline in the OG Dexter series. Deb, despite being part of law enforcement, had no idea that her own brother was a serial killer until the final few months of her life. In that sense, Wallace being related to the New York Ripper would mirror that kind of tragic irony.

At the same time, the writers have repeatedly stated in interviews over the past year that not everything in the world of Dexter needs to be connected. That alone makes the chances of Wallace secretly being Don Framt’s daughter or niece, pretty slim. It would almost be too ironic, similar to the old Jonah Mitchell theory from last summer, when many fans actually believed he was secretly the New York Ripper before the killer’s identity was revealed.

Of course, there’s still plenty of time for more theories to emerge involving these characters and others. That’s part of what makes following Dexter: Resurrection during production so much fun. But for now, this theory may simply be the result of fans reading... deeply into a few interesting set photos.

Patrick Gibson may be done playing 20-year-old Dexter now that Dexter: Original Sin has been canceled, with the decision still looking irreversible at this point. But while that chapter seems to be over, the actor has already reached a major new milestone in his career thanks to his latest project, the video game 007 First Light.

Developed by IO Interactive, the newly released single-player action-adventure game tells a standalone, reimagined origin story for a 26-year-old James Bond before he actually earns his iconic “license to kill.” Gibson steps into the role of a younger, more reckless Bond, bringing both his voice and likeness to the character.

Now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, 007 First Light borrows gameplay elements from franchises like Uncharted and Tomb Raider, which definitely works in the game’s favor and helps make it seem like an ambitious blockbuster experience. Since its official release on May 26, the game has already received praise from reviewers for its cinematic atmosphere, strong melee combat mechanics, and standout performances.

Alongside Patrick Gibson as Bond, the game also features Lenny Kravitz as one of the villains, while the theme song is performed by Lana Del Rey.

Although Paddy’s involvement in the project was officially confirmed last autumn, the actor actually joined the game much earlier. Voice work, performance capture, and other major parts of the production began back in 2020, as Gibson also provided the face for this younger version of Bond. The amount of time passing between Season 1 and Season 2 has now been revealed, and has many fans confused about how it will all make sense.

The second season of Dexter: Resurrection is already deep into production, and a few unofficial behind-the-scenes photos from the New York set has seemingly confirmed that the story will jump four years into the future. What began as a... rumor has turned into something much more convincing, and fans are actually paying close attention.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2.

At first, many viewers were unsure if the evidence was even legit. Some assumed it was simply a production mistake or a detail that didn’t really mean much. But after multiple reveals surfaced during the first month of filming, it actually became harder to ignore. And now, concerns about the major time jump from 2022 to 2026 have started growing among fans for several reasons.

Before getting into the specifics behind the concerns, it is worth looking back at how the time jump was revealed not once, not twice, but three separate times during the first month of filming.

The first clue came from the registration sticker on Dexter’s car. Even though that alone was enough to create speculation, many fans still believed it could have been an error. But the next two details seemed to confirm it completely. One was Charley using an iPhone 17 Pro Max (Apple’s most recent line-up), and the other was a newspaper prop dated June 16, 2026.

But with the story now seemingly taking place in 2026, many are worried the show may skip it entirely.

2. Leon Prater’s Exposure Might Happen Off-Screen

Another concern is the aftermath from Leon Prater finally being exposed. Season 1 ended right as the NYPD discovered the truth about him through the hidden vault located at his penthouse, actually setting up what looked like an immediate investigation.

Yet... based on the set photos released so far, Dex appears to just met the New York Ripper four years later, despite seemingly having extensive information about him all along. The same concern also applies to Quinn, whose storyline also appears strangely frozen in place.

Meanwhile, other elements of the story actually seem to reflect the passage of time normally, especially Harrison, who now looks older and appears to have taken a major step forward in his life and career.

For many people out there, this creates the feeling that time moved naturally for some characters, while barely moving at all for others.

Why Fans Shouldn’t Be Too Worried

Even though the concerns are understandable, the four-year time jump does not necessarily mean the story will suffer because of it.

Just because Season 2 takes place in 2026 instead of directly after Season 1, does not mean important events will be ignored completely. The new episodes could still revisit major moments through flashbacks, giving the show an opportunity explore key events like Batista’s funeral, Leon Prater’s public exposure, or the early stages of Dex’s hunt for the New York Ripper.

Those could actually be used to better explain character decisions and of course story develpments that shape the new season.

It is also important to remember that the team behind Dexter: Resurrection genuinely loves and cares about the franchise. Several people involved with the series have been connected to Dexter since 2005, when the original pilot was filmed. And judging by the overwhelmingly positive response to Season 1, the writers definitely understand what fans want from the show.

Even if the four-year time jump seems unusual right now, there is still a big chance it will make much more sense when the full story unfolds.

Michael C. Hall Teases Dexter: Resurrection Season 2’s Big ‘Nasty’ Villains Are Complete Opposites

During his recent appearance at the Dexter: Resurrection FYC panel, Hall also teased the season’s new main antagonists.

As soon as production on Dexter: Resurrection began, it became clear that the series would introduce not one, but two major antagonists for Dexter Morgan to face. These new killers are the New York Ripper, portrayed by Brian Cox, and the Five Borough Killer, played by Dan Stevens.

While fans had already received a few hints about their personalities, several set photos from Season 2 gave a much better look at their physical appearances, and the differences between them are actually big. From their age to their overall presence, these are clearly two completely different kinds of monsters.

On May 14, during the For Your Consideration Event for Dexter: Resurrection, Michael C. Hall joined several cast and crew members to discuss the upcoming season. Although he could not reveal much because of contractual restrictions, he still used the opportunity, following a question from panelist Liam Crowley, to shed some light on the sophomore season’s two main villains.

Michael actually described the New York Ripper as a veteran serial killer who has been active for a long time, with much of his violent history already behind him. According to Hall, the character is a deeply disturbing and dangerous individual.

In contrast, he explained that the Five Borough Killer is much younger and still evolving into what Dexter would consider a true serial killer. Hall suggested that Dexter may not even fully see him as one yet, describing him more as an aspiring killer who is still “blossoming” into that identity.

Overall, Hall emphasized that both villains are “equally nasty,” but actually exist at completely opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of their journey and experience.

What Hall revealed is especially interesting when taking into account that both Don Framt, the New York Ripper, and Owen Stark, the Five Borough Killer, seem to share a similarly sadistic tactic: taunting phone calls aimed at the people they target.

As revealed multiple times during the first season, the New York Ripper enjoys calling surviving victims or relatives of the people he murdered in order to torment them. A similar pattern appears to be part of the Five Borough Killer’s identity as well, with his official character synopsis confriming that disturbing phone calls are also one of his signature methods. That shared... cruelty is partly what makes both killers feel so “nasty” in Hall’s eyes.

Beyond that similarity though, the two villains actually appear to be complete opposites.

Either way, it honestly is refreshing to see Dexter Morgan dealing with two major antagonists at the same time. Watching him finding way to ago against two killers who are at entirely different stages of their evolution could definitely end up being one of the most interesting parts of Season 2.

Also known to the public by the initials ‘FBK,’ several chilling details about the killer were revealed through the NYC set.

One of the first actors to join the main cast of Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 as a series regular was renowned actor Dan Stevens, and to everyone’s surprise, he appears to be playing a role we initially thought would belong to the New York Ripper: the season’s main antagonist.

But it now looks like Season 2 is setting up not one, but two major villains, with the Five Borough Killer becoming the other big threat in this next chapter. Much younger than the Ripper, Owen Stark, as the character is actually named, is expected to play a major role in the story.

From everything we’ve seen so far, he seems obsessed with chaos and attention, turning awful crimes into public spectacles across New York City. And after the sixth week of filming, new set photos gave us some clues worth paying attention to.

The Manhattan Newsstand Clue

More specifically, one image from the set, courtesy of photo agency Bauer-Griffin, may have revealed exactly what the FBK is up to at this point in the story, along with details about his disturbing M.O.

Among the set photos featuring Stevens, one close-up shot actually got our attention, and it showed a stack of newspapers being sold at a Manhattan newsstand. A closer look revealed that both front pages, especially created for Dexter: Resurrection, focused on a brand-new crime committed by the Five Borough Killer.

Even more unsettling, Owen Stark, the calculated and terrifying killer that official character synopsis compared to the Zodiac Killer, was seen casually walking through the streets of New York with a disturbing smile on his face (see the image on the top of this article) once again dressed in blue. At one point, while cameras were rolling, Stevens was spotted fully in character buying a newspaper whose front page was entirely about the crime he had just committed.

But... what exactly did those newspaper headlines reveal?

The New York Post front page reads in large letters: “FBK Strikes Again! Which borough will be next?” suggesting that Stark claimed another victim the night before. But a smaller section in the bottom-right corner actually revealed something even more interesting, especially for those who have been following our recent updates here on Dexter Daily. It reads:

“After FBK takes credit for the maintenance man who plummeted to his death from the roof of the Flatiron Building as his second kill, New Yonkers brace themselves for an anxious summer.”

From what we can tell so far, it seems very likely that Charley and Dexter’s dinner from the previous night was actually interrupted by a crime committed by the FBK just a few feet away, involving a man dressed as a maintenance worker falling from a building onto a kiosk.

Meanwhile, the Daily News front page revealed even more, including confirmation of the timeline and the time jump between Seasons 1 and 2.

Its headline reads: “Manhattan Targeted, POV video released of the push, Five Borough Killer still at large,” while the main story says: “FBK claims responsibility for fatal push.”

At this point, the killer’s M.O. appears to involve pushing victims from rooftops, or psychologically driving them to jump to their deaths. That second possibility sounds very similar to what the Trinity Killer did with some of his female victims as part of his ritual.

Another important detail mentioned in the newspaper is the phrase “second kill.” Obviously, this does not mean Owen Stark has only killed twice in total. The name Five Borough Killer already suggests he carried out five separate murders during (at least) an earlier cycle. What this likely means is that a brand-new cycle has now begun, and by this point in the story, possibly around Episode 3 of Season 2, Stark has already committed his second new murder, meaning three more are actually expected.

An Unhinged, Narcissistic Threat

Something else worth remembering from the official synopsis is that the FBK enjoys taunting law enforcement with ominous phone calls threatening innocent people. Unsurprisingly, he appears to use old-school cell phones to avoid leaving traces behind.

Stevens was actually spotted multiple times on set talking on one while wearing yellow gloves, which means that after each sadistic phone call, the killer simply disposes of the device.

All of these details definitely point toward a truly unhinged individual, someone so confident in his actions that he barely even tries to blend in while walking through public spaces. The fact that he casually buys a newspaper covering a murder he just committed proves the narcissistic side of the character.

Owen Stark seems to carefully choose different boroughs of New York for very specific reasons before carrying out his crimes. And this looks exactly like the kind of serial killer Dexter Morgan thrives against!

Michael C. Hall Laughs at Dexter’s Plot Armor and How He Never Gets Caught: ‘He Turns Himself Into Smoke’

During a recent SAG-AFTRA Foundation panel, the actor took the opportunity to joke about how unrealistic Dexter can sometimes be.

Even though Dexter is widely considered one of the best TV shows ever made, it is fair to say the series can be unrealistic at times, and honestly, that has always been part of its nature. A serial killer managing to survive in the modern era without ever getting caught is actually a huge stretch, and many fans have pointed out over the years that Dexter Morgan seems protected by a certain level of plot armor.

But at the same time, that is also necessary for the show to exist and continue for so many seasons. And as it turns out, Michael C. Hall is fully aware of the ongoing joke about Dexter somehow escaping every situation without being caught by security cameras, witnesses, or law enforcement.

During the recent SAG-AFTRA Foundation panel promoting the first season of Dexter: Resurrection for the Emmy awards season, Hall addressed the topic with a great sense of humor.

The conversation started after the moderator pointed out how sharp and funny the writing and performances are in the series, asking how the show actually manages to balance its dark themes with humor so well.

Hall explained that one of the most enjoyable parts of working on Dexter: Resurrection Season 1 was exploring a version of Dexter that was less weighed down by everything that had burdened the character in previous years. The editing process for Episode 1 of the second season is officially underway, and director Marcos Siega teased fans with a revealing behind-the-scenes photo.

What if the third episode of Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 has already started production? Even though cameras are still rolling on the first few episodes, it looks like the editing process is already underway. Director Marcos Siega recently teased fans with a behind-the-scenes photo that ended up revealing a lot more than it probably should have. But was it really an accident, or was it intentional?

Siega confirmed that editing for Season 2 Episode 1 has officially begun and shared an image from the editing room while on a video call with editor Perri Frank.

At first glance, the photo actually seemed... harmless enough. The focus was on the laptop and the cat prop Dexter Morgan received during Blessing Kamara’s mother’s funeral, sitting right beside it. But hidden in the blurry background were details that fans completely overlooked, hours after the image was posted online.

And those details quietly confirm the return of two actors and characters who still haven’t been officially announced for Season 2.

Those are David Zayas (Angel Batista) and Eric Stonestreet (Al Walker).

Like many editing and writers’ rooms, the background featured a white cast board almost filled with headshot cards for actors involved in the season. Among the visible names were Zayas and Stonestreet, alongside several other cast members. There are also a few photos underneath them that actually remain unidentified for now.

From left to right, the board appears to feature Michael C. Hall, Jack Alcott, Brian Cox, Uma Thurman, James Remar, David Zayas, Kadia Saraf, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Dominic Fumusa, Eric Stonestreet, Desmond Harrington, Dan Stevens, Nona Parker Johnson, and below the latter, Bokeem Woodbine.

This pretty much confirms that David Zayas will have some involvement in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2. While here at Dexter Daily we previously reported that the actor was spotted in costume on set, seeing his face on the official production board actually takes things to a whole new level. It is no longer just a... rumor or a misunderstood set pic, it is now official that despite Batista is dead, he is somehow part of the story.

For Stonestreet on the other hand, since filming began, he has been one of the few returning actors who had not been officially announced for Season 2. Still, his return definitely seemed likely, mostly because Dexter Morgan has unfinished business with Al Walker.

Until now, fans could only assume he was part of the story. But this image now confirms that Al Walker, also known as Rapunzel, the only surviving serial killer from Leon Prater’s dinner party, will eventually appear in the new season.

Another interesting detail hidden in the photo is the TV monitor sitting below the cast board. It actually appears to display a shot from Episode 1 itself, although it is heavily out of focus and partially blocked by the laptop, which makes it impossible to tell exactly what is happening in the scene. What it does reveal, however, is that the 21:9 aspect ratio is returning for Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection.

So at this point, it is safer than ever to say that both Angel Batista and Al Walker are far from done with the series. Al’s return especially makes sense, considering he is still alive. And honestly, these kinds of reveals don’t really seem accidental anymore. Recent behind-the-scenes posts from the crew have quietly included small hidden details, actually made to get fans who pay attention to details, talking.

In one particular scene involving Dexter Morgan on a phone call, Michael C. Hall appeared visibly troubled while filming on set.

The sixth week of production for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 just keeps delivering behind-the-scenes content almost every day, which actually has been great for fans. Not only does it make the wait a little easier, but it also gives us small clues about where the story may be heading and what kind of emotional state the characters are in.

Thankfully, these latest set photos are no exception.

On Thursday, May 21, Michael C. Hall was spotted filming in Chelsea, Manhattan fully in character as Dexter Morgan for Episode 3 of Season 2, which recently began production. The actor was wearing a short-sleeved blue shirt paired with black trousers, a look very similar to the one he was seen wearing over a month ago. But one detail actually stands out, and it is that Dexter looks seriously disturbed.

According to the latest images shared by Bauer-Griffin, Dexter was seen outside a well-known pizza restaurant in broad daylight. The location is J’s Pizza, a classic New York City pizza spot located at 98 7th Avenue between 15th and 16th Street. The storefront features painted signs reading “Pizza by the Slice” and “Daily,” which makes the location recognizable.

Dexter was seen talking on the phone while leaning against the storefront, with one arm resting on a nearby chair. Judging by his facial expressions, this was clearly not a pleasant phone call, which of course makes us wonder who is he talking to.

What actually makes the scene even more interesting is what happens immediately after the call ends. Dex appears visibly frustrated as he puts his phone back into his pocket. In several images, he can be seen closing his eyes in irritation while making the motion, suggesting that the person on the other end of the line brought him nothing but stress and trouble.

Between takes, Hall was also seen interacting with Episode 3 director Erica Dunton and executive producer/writer Scott Reynolds. Reynolds appeared to be showing Hall something on his smartphone, something that made both of them smile.

And this is where the theories begin.

Who could Dexter be talking to in this scene? One of the most obvious possibilities is Miami Metro homicide Lieutenant Quinn. There’s no actual confirmation about that, of course, but many fans out there believe Quinn could follow the same path his late friend Angel Batista did, as soon as he arrives in New York City.

Another possibility is that Dexter is speaking with either Don Framt, the New York Ripper, or even Owen Stark, the Five Borough Killer. Of course, some more... grounded options include his son Harrison, or Charley Brown, Prater’s former right-hand woman.

New Set Photos from Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Tease a Hilarious First Encounter Between a Hunter and the Hunted

We didn’t expect set photos to reveal this kind of interaction, especially this early, but here we are.

Six weeks into production, Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection officially moved into filming Episode 3 on May 20, and some exciting (and very revealing) set photos from downtown Manhattan have now appeared online. Among the images, there are a couple of shots that actually confirm two major rivals will cross paths very early in the season, and their first interaction looks unexpectedly hilarious.

In the new set photos shared by Bauer-Griffin, also known as the Hollywood Hunt Club, we noticed not only that five major characters were gathered at the same location (something we covered in a previous article) but also that two of them, seemingly hunter and hunted, shared a very interesting interaction that was captured clearly enough in photos.

Those characters are Don Framt, also known as the New York Ripper, and Detective Claudette Wallace.

That’s right. By Episode 3, it already looks like Wallace will actually come face-to-face with the very man she has spent decades obsessively trying to catch. The notorious New York Ripper remains one of the city’s most infamous uncaught serial killers, though he now appears retired due to both age and his obvious physical condition.

What makes this interaction so important is that Claudette Wallace has absolutely no idea who this man really is. As for Framt himself, it’s unknown whether he recognizes Wallace, although there’s a good chance he does, considering her public obsession with the New York Ripper case. But what exactly makes their first interaction so funny? Well, there’s actually a photo right below, that gives us a pretty good idea!

As you can see, Brian Cox and Kadia Saraf were photographed rehearsing a scene under the watchful eye of Episode 3 director Erica Dunton. Detective Claudette Wallace appears to be on duty and investigating a crime scene, while civilians gather nearby to see what’s actually happening. Among them is Don Framt himself, seemingly trying to blend into the crowd.

But judging from the photos, Framt either says or does something provocative toward the officers at the scene, something that definitely pushes Wallace over the edge. She looks furious, almost as if she’s about to shut him up herself... or even hit him!

Framt’s reaction is what actually makes the moment hilarious. He genuinely looks intimidated by Wallace’s anger, while her facial expression makes it obvious that whatever he said did not go over well. It also makes us wonder what exactly he said, whether directly to her or to the NYPD officers investigating the scene.

Notably, Sergeant Melvin Oliva, Harrison Morgan, and Fiona Mixon were also spotted filming the sequence. All of them appeared fully in character and visibly disturbed by whatever Don Framt said, as their facial expressions in the image below seem to confirm:

It is actually fascinating to see the Dexter: Resurrection writers already giving the New York Ripper major screentime alongside the rest of the main cast, and especially with Claudette Wallace. At this point, it is quite obvious that Wallace has no idea who this man really is or what he did in the past, but moments like this could definitely become extremely important later on if she eventually starts connecting the dots throughout Season 2.

At this stage in his life, Don Framt seems more interested in provoking and taunting people than killing them himself, mostly because he is no longer physically capable of doing murders. That reputation for cruelty and manipulation is exactly why the New York Ripper’s name is still infamous across New York City.

As Season 1 already established, Framt actually enjoys tormenting both survivors and grieving relatives connected to his crimes. This kind of provocative behavior appears to be a major part of who he is now, especially during what seems to be the final chapter of his life.
