“Putting Students First” doesn’t mean putting teachers last | Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives:

One can’t hire a contractor, spend the money on something else, and then say, “Sorry, I can’t pay for that new kitchen.”

A teachers position is NOTHING like a contractor so this argument just isn’t valid.

Teachers can’t negotiate salaries, raises, or bonuses like many in the private sector can: these changes are non-negotiable.

You can’t have it both ways. Union negotiated contracts or do it yourself.

We teachers earned our banked sick days in the past through hard work. They are not a “frill” to be retroactively withdrawn. 

But they are SICK DAYS, If you’re not sick you don’t use them. Plus, you weren’t sick, you should be happy! Banking WAS a nice perk but I don’t get to bank my car insurance if I don’t get in an accident!

Still think the public education is broken, almost beyond repair. Starting to think about setting aside money now for my future children’s private education.

We all used to highly value people who subscribe to our blog and podcasts. That was where we put all our efforts, if getting them to subscribe. To marketers that automatic delivery increases the value. But, there is something to be said for someone who may not be technically savvy enough to use RSS, or not want to get more email they’ll have to deal with, that is willing to devote enough brain space to remember to check your site every day for new content!

I quit Twitter for a month and it changed my thinking about mostly everything.

It served no one any benefit and it just derailed my evening.

I’ve taken breaks from Twitter and lots of other things. They’ve always been good, never had a down side I can remember. I also like the idea that you must do things that service someone, maybe just yourself but someone!

In Instacast 3 we made a lot of internal changes to the very foundation of the app that will allow us to make a Mac version that will be totally compatible with Instacast 3. This is planned for spring next year. Stay tuned.

I’ve gone back to Apples Podcast app for the time being, so I can sync to my home Mac and play through my house but this has me excited!
