Dearest lay apostles, please remember the intentions of the Lord with regard to the Church in China at this time. We are sending this letter out to all, confident that you will send it along to anyone you feel will benefit from reading it, most specifically anyone you know in China.

Love and Christmas prayers from Anne, a lay apostle

My dear brothers and sisters in the Catholic Church in China,

How blessed you are to be chosen by Christ to preach His Gospel of salvation. Truly, the all-powerful God favors you with the commission He has handed to you. Dear brothers and sisters, remember that you do not own the Gospel message that is being transmitted through you. You are simply vehicles for its delivery to God’s children. As such, you must be reverent about how you protect and defend this message, separating it out from worldly messages.

It is clear that God is sending enormous conversion graces into the Catholic Church in China. The good work being done by the whole Church in China is a sight to behold. Many have been blessed to personally witness this growth and truly the Holy Spirit is very serious about building His Kingdom there.

The Holy Spirit, as the architect of the Catholic Church in China, will always construct a pure edifice. He is doing this through men and women, priests and religious, bishops and Cardinals. His desire is to extend the one true Church. If the people chosen to do this job, with all of the graces they have at their disposal, do not pay heed to the Holy Father and those whom He has commissioned to represent him, then we will have yet another faux church, a sham, an imposter of the true Church. The Chinese people do not need misrepresentation. As God’s children, they are entitled to truthful representation, even if that comes at a cost. Indeed, it would be unusual if the burgeoning of the Church in any specific region did not carry a cost.

Be alert. God’s enemy, Satan, does not want consolation and truth for God’s children in China. God’s enemy is the destroyer of truth and God’s enemy will always target unity. Please, dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, act with seriousness and prudence. Protect what has been transmitted to you. Act with steadfast decision. The Spirit is with you and will protect you by giving you clear instruction, but this instruction will only be understood in abject humility, in fearless study of one’s own temptations. Remember that as children of God, we are called first to be holy. When a leader is distracted from his own holiness work, he is liable to mislead.

Better that God has a humble and small Church that is faithful, than a blazing edifice that holds nothing. Ask yourself, ‘What are we building? What is God asking us to construct for Him?’ To abandon the rightful leadership of the Church is to insure that the Church in China will go astray. There can be no other outcome.

What does it mean to be a patriotic Chinese person? Well, I believe that it means that one possesses a desire for that which is good for all Chinese people. Therefore, as Catholic leaders, it would seem completely consistent with one’s patriotic sentiments to possess a zealous desire for a Catholic Church that is linked securely to Jesus Christ, the Church’s head and heart, through His Vicar on earth.

We are called to represent Jesus to the people in our spiritual care. The government does its own work to represent itself and the government will always seek to further its own goals. So be it. May God protect our brothers and sisters in government, bless them and guide them. But we, working in unity with the government whenever possible, must accept our separation from all worldly institutions. It has always been this way and the apostles in China are no different from the first apostles. The call to preach the Gospel is the same now as it was then.

Be assured, men and women of God in China, the entire Catholic Church is on your side and is praying for an outcome that includes peace and unity. We rejoice with you in the wonderful achievements of the Chinese people in recent years. While no single man can completely understand the struggles of another, we pray constantly for your courage and clarity. God’s Kingdom is coming. This is certain. And God desires that His Kingdom come in China, through your commitment to His one holy, Catholic, and apostolic Church.

The lay apostles of Jesus Christ the Returning King are praying steadily for all of our brothers and sisters in the Catholic Church in China at this time.

A Special Opportunity for Married Couples

In the last two years, lay apostles Kevin and Crystal Sullivan have travelled to many locations in the United States and Europe, presenting information talks and assisting at Eucharistic. As a married couple, they work to spread the messages of this apostolate.
To that end, the Lord has helped us to identify three other couples who are considering working with us. However, we know we need more help in order to reach even more souls.
Is it possible that the Lord is prompting you to serve the apostolate in this way? If so, we welcome you to join our small band of potential evangelizers, who will meet in Cavan, Ireland on Friday, June 17th.
Come and learn more about how we go out “two by two” and preach the good news. A program has been prepared for us; we simply have to present it to parishes, organizations or small gatherings in homes.

Apostles Needed

Apostles are needed now more than ever! Every one of us can be an Apostle. Just like the first twelve Apostles, all you have to do is say “yes” to God’s invitation to serve Him. Your religious education or affiliation doesn’t matter. Nor does anything you’ve done in your past life. All that matters is your willingness to serve.

“Dear servants of the returning King, you will not be sorry you sacrificed for Me. During the whole of your eternity, you will reap the rewards for having done so. In a time when few understand the concept of sacrifice, you are giving of yourselves, day after day, to bring about My goals. You are serving Me and you are serving your fellow man. How many can say that during these days?”

WHAT DOES A LAY APOSTLE DO?

A lay apostle walks closely with Jesus throughout each day. The first goal is the personal movement toward unity with Jesus. In other words, we concentrate first on our own holiness and the perfection of our own souls. We do this through our vocations as mothers, fathers, priests, religious, single people, daughters, sons, sisters and brothers. We serve Jesus through service to others. We learn to love Jesus through loving others. We become united to Jesus by treating others with His love and gentleness. We bring kindness back to the world by behaving as though we lived in the heavenly kingdom, which of course, we do.

Some souls pray a great deal, but do not love. This is not unity to Christ. This is unity to prayer. But the goal of prayer is unity with Christ. Christ is love. Prayer brings us to love, to softer hearts, to forgiveness and patient service to others.

Lay apostles seek to live this message of love and kindness.

Some apostles will be called to spread the Volumes. Some apostles will be called to support the mission in prayer. Some are called to suffer in obscurity, with only Jesus as the witness to their soul’s constant progress. Everyone will be called. Everyone is chosen to serve.

If you feel called to share this mission with family, friends, or those around you, consider giving a presentation in your local area. This type of grassroots effort has already helped to spread the mission around the world. Jesus will do all of the work. His Spirit will open the hearts of those who are called to serve. Anne’s Bishop assigns priest to DFOT

Anne’s Bishop appoints Fr. Darragh Connolly to work full time with DFOT

Bishop Leo O’Reilly, Anne’s local ordinary, has assigned a priest from his diocese to work full time with Direction For Our Times.

Fr. Darragh Connolly will work both as the bishop’s representative to the organization, as well as its Spiritual Director.

This is Fr. Darragh’s letter to lay apostles regarding his assignment:

Dear Apostles,
Greetings to you in Jesus Christ, the Returning King!

How wonderful it is that God looks after our every need. Recently I was appointed by Bishop Leo O’Reilly to work full time for this organization Direction For Our Times as Spiritual Director. This is a great step forward for the mission. To deem it necessary to place a full time priest on any mission is a big development. Our Bishop is taking great care to help this mission of mercy in every way possible. All the workings are monitored by the Church and this mission remains firmly within the obedience of the Church at all times.

As I have worked in a part time capacity with this organization over the last three years, it has been striking to see the diligent service of those who have been called to serve. Lay apostles all over the world have heard the call of Christ to service and have not been lacking in their response. It is greatly encouraging to see the level of sacrifice people are prepared to make to further the cause of this mission.

You may say you have nothing of value to give this mission. This is untrue. If you offer your day to Christ the Returning King you will be giving valuable help in a way that cannot be overestimated. Given that Anne is not the only one called to serve in this mission, Christ may then call you further to help in spreading the Volumes and Lay Apostolate. Maybe the Lord wants you to help in this renewal by assisting your Pastor in promoting Eucharistic Adoration in your parish. Maybe you will be the one who starts the first Lay Apostle prayer group in your parish. By taking on the commitments asked of you by Christ the Returning King you can be assured He will make his call to you abundantly clear and you will begin to serve in a way you never thought possible for you.

If you need any assistance in beginning to promote the work of this mission, please do not hesitate to contact the office of Direction for Our Times. We will be glad to help you in any way possible. We may even be able to put you in contact with someone in your area who already has the Volumes and has started living the call of Christ the Returning King so that you can support each other and begin your prayer group.

May God bless you as you discern your call to serve as a lay apostle of Jesus Christ the Returning King.

Dedicated to Spreading the Word

A very curious thing happens to most of us after we hear the messages of the Volumes—we want to get involved. That is surely the hand of Jesus on our shoulder. Rest assured, He wants you involved, too.

So what do you do next? Here are some suggestions on spreading the word:

Read the Volumes.
Even those that may not pertain to your state in life (such as the text aimed at children or at priests—if you’re not a child or priest). You’ll find guidance in every Volume that you can pass along to others time after time in the future. When you have finished reading them all, start all over again!

Consider starting a program in your parish.
The fastest way to reach many people is through your parish. DFOT has prepared presentation materials that you can use to conduct parish programs with the full cooperation of your pastor. Please click here for the PDF file (Lay Apostle Presentation). We suggest you begin by giving your pastor one or all of the books. If he wants to contact us directly, we’d love to hear from him. Here’s another idea: pass along a book or two to some of the lay leaders of your parish, and suggest you get together in a week or two to see what can be done. Don’t think you have to do this alone—Jesus is touching many souls with His spirit. In many cases, all you have to do is “plant the seed.” Eager souls will rush to help you.

Attend a Eucharistic Day of Renewal.
Jesus has promised that unlimited graces will flow into souls on these Eucharistic Days of Renewal. If there is not an event scheduled near you, let us know about it. Our goal is to bring these messages to souls everywhere. God makes all things possible, and we do not presume to limit ourselves as to the locations of these conferences—so call or email us, and we’ll see what can be accomplished with your help and God’s.

Give volumes to your relatives and friends.
The grassroots effect of spreading these messages is spectacular. Even if your loved ones are a bit reluctant, give them the books anyway. Jesus needs but a crack in the door. Our collective goal must be to put Volumes into hands. He will do the rest. Great graces will flow to all who help in the spreading of these inspiring words. You may want to stock up on several Volumes (Vol. One and Two, for example). Carry a couple of copies in your purse or in your car. When you see a soul that you think might benefit from reading the message of the Returning King, hand them a copy. God will do the rest.

Offer prayers and Masses.
Like any great mission, prayers for its success will surely reap positive results. You might start by praying the (Lay Apostles Prayer) each day, and adding a few Our Fathers and Hail Marys for all of those involved in the mission. Spend some time in adoration asking Jesus for his continued blessings, both for yourself as a Lay Apostle and for all your fellow lay apostles around the world. Prayer works, and it’s an activity in which we can all participate.
