<p>The <strong>Sukhoi Su-25</strong> is a single-seat, twin-engine <a title="Jet aircraft" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Jet_aircraft">jet aircraft</a> developed in the <a title="Soviet Union" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Soviet_Union">Soviet Union</a> by the <a title="Sukhoi" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Sukhoi">Sukhoi Design Bureau</a>. It was designed to provide <a title="Close air support" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Close_air_support">close air support</a> for the <a title="Red Army" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Red_Army">Soviet Ground Forces</a>. The first prototype made its maiden flight on <a title="February 22" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/February_22">22 February</a> <a title="1975" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/1975">1975</a>. After testing, the aircraft went into series production in 1978 at <a title="Tbilisi" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Tbilisi">Tbilisi</a> in the <a class="mw-redirect" title="Georgian SSR" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Georgian_SSR">Soviet Republic of Georgia</a>. <a title="NATO" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/NATO">NATO</a> assigned the new aircraft the <a title="NATO reporting name" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/NATO_reporting_name">reporting name</a> &#8220;Frogfoot&#8221;.</p>
<p>Early variants included the Su-25UB two-seat trainer, the Su-25BM for target-towing, and the Su-25K for export customers. Upgraded variants developed by Sukhoi include the Su-25T and the further improved Su-25TM (also known as Su-39). By year 2007, the Su-25 is the only armoured airplane still in production except the <a title="Sukhoi Su-34" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Sukhoi_Su-34">Su-34</a> whose production just started.<a href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wp-admin/#cite_note-Frogfoot-0"><span>[</span>1<span>]</span></a> It is currently in service with <a title="Russia" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Russia">Russia</a> and various other <a title="Commonwealth of Independent States" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Commonwealth_of_Independent_States">CIS</a> states as well as export customers.</p>
<p>During its more than twenty-five years in service, the Su-25 has seen combat with several air forces. It was heavily involved in the <a title="Soviet war in Afghanistan" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Soviet_war_in_Afghanistan">Soviet war in Afghanistan</a>, flying <a title="Counter-insurgency" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Counter-insurgency">counter-insurgency</a> missions against the <a title="Mujahideen" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Mujahideen">Mujahideen</a>. The <a title="Iraqi Air Force" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Iraqi_Air_Force">Iraqi Air Force</a> employed Su-25s against Iran during the 1980–89 <a title="Iran–Iraq War" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Iran%E2%80%93Iraq_War">Iran–Iraq War</a>. Most of them were later destroyed or fled to Iran in the 1991 <a title="Gulf War" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Gulf_War">Gulf War</a>. In 1993, <a title="Abkhazia" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Abkhazia">Abkhazian</a> <a class="mw-redirect" title="Separatist" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Separatist">separatists</a> used Su-25s against <a title="Georgians" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Georgians">Georgians</a> during <a title="War in Abkhazia (1992–1993)" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/War_in_Abkhazia_(1992%E2%80%931993)">Abkhazian War</a>.<a href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wp-admin/#cite_note-1"><span>[</span>2<span>]</span></a> Eight years later, the <a title="Military of the Republic of Macedonia" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Military_of_the_Republic_of_Macedonia">Macedonian Air Force</a> employed Su-25s against Albanian insurgents in the <a class="mw-redirect" title="2001 Macedonia conflict" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/2001_Macedonia_conflict">2001 Macedonia conflict</a>, and in 2008 <a title="Georgia (country)" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Georgia_(country)">Georgia</a> and <a title="Russia" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Russia">Russia</a> were both reported to be using Su-25s in the <a class="mw-redirect" title="2008 South Ossetia War" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/2008_South_Ossetia_War">2008 South Ossetia War</a>.<a href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wp-admin/#cite_note-gewarplanes-2"><span>[</span>3<span>]</span></a></p>

It was intended as a direct competitor for the new generation of <a title="United States" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/United_States">American</a> fighters (which emerged as the <a title="F-14 Tomcat" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/F-14_Tomcat">F-14 Tomcat</a>, <a title="F-15 Eagle" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/F-15_Eagle">F-15 Eagle</a>, <a title="F-16 Fighting Falcon" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/F-16_Fighting_Falcon">F-16 Fighting Falcon</a>, and <a title="F/A-18 Hornet" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/F/A-18_Hornet">F/A-18 Hornet</a>), with long range, heavy armament, and very high agility. The Su-27 most often flies <a title="Air superiority" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Air_superiority">air superiority</a> missions, but is able to perform almost all combat operations. Its closest American counterpart is the <a title="F-15 Eagle" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/F-15_Eagle">F-15 Eagle</a>.</p>
<p>From the Su-27 design came several related developments. The <a title="Sukhoi Su-33" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Sukhoi_Su-33">Su-33 ‘Flanker-D’</a> is a Fleet Defense Interceptor that was developed from the Su-27 design for use on <a title="Aircraft carrier" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Aircraft_carrier">aircraft carriers</a>. The main differences include a <a title="Tailhook" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Tailhook">tail hook</a> and <a title="Canard (aeronautics)" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Canard_(aeronautics)">canards</a>. The <a title="Sukhoi Su-30" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Sukhoi_Su-30">Su-30</a> is a two-seat, dual-role fighter for all-weather, air-to-air and deep interdiction missions. Further versions include the <a title="Sukhoi Su-34" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Sukhoi_Su-34">Su-34 ‘Fullback’</a> strike variant and the <a title="Sukhoi Su-35" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Sukhoi_Su-35">Su-35 ‘Flanker-E’</a> improved air defense fighter.</p>

<p>Two YF-23 prototypes were designed and built by the contractor team of Northrop and McDonnell Douglas as part of the demonstration and evaluation phase of the US Air Force&#8217;s Advanced Tactical Fighter selection program, which concluded in 1990. According to the Air Force, factors in the selection for production of the F-22 were a better designed for maintainability, greater potential for future development, and slightly lower cost. A popular view is that the decision reflected a preference for maneuverability over stealth, and it is universally held that the YF-23 was by far the better looking aircraft.</p>
<p>During the ATF program, one YF-23 was powered by twin Pratt and Whitney YF119 turbofan engines, while two General Electric YF120 turbofan engines were installed in the other prototype. Featuring a diamond-shaped planform, two large, sharply-canted ruddervators, and a serrated aft profile, the high performance aircraft was larger than the F-15 it was designed to replace. The YF-23 employed stealth characteristics and was capable of supersonic cruise flight without afterburner.</p>

<p>The <strong>General Dynamics F-111</strong> is a medium-range <a title="Interdictor" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Interdictor">interdictor</a> and <a class="mw-redirect" title="Fighter bomber" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Fighter_bomber">tactical strike</a> aircraft that also fills the roles of <a title="Strategic bomber" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Strategic_bomber">strategic bomber</a>, <a title="Reconnaissance" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Reconnaissance">reconnaissance</a> and <a title="Electronic warfare" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Electronic_warfare">electronic warfare</a> in its various versions. Developed in the 1960s and first entering service in 1967, the <a title="United States Air Force" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/United_States_Air_Force">United States Air Force</a> (USAF) variants were officially retired by 1998. The only remaining operator of the F-111 is the <a title="Royal Australian Air Force" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Royal_Australian_Air_Force">Royal Australian Air Force</a> (RAAF).</p>
<p>The F-111 pioneered several technologies for production <a title="Military aircraft" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Military_aircraft">military aircraft</a>, including <a class="mw-redirect" title="Variable geometry wing" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Variable_geometry_wing">variable geometry wings</a>, <a title="Afterburner" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Afterburner">afterburning</a> <a title="Turbofan" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Turbofan">turbofan</a> engines, and <a class="mw-redirect" title="Terrain following radar" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Terrain_following_radar">terrain following radar</a> for low-level, high-speed flight. Its design was highly influential, particularly for <a title="Soviet Union" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Soviet_Union">Soviet</a> engineers, and some of its advanced features have since become commonplace. In its inception, however, the F-111 suffered a variety of development problems, and several of its intended roles, such as naval <a title="Interceptor aircraft" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/Interceptor_aircraft">interception</a>, failed to materialize.</p>
<p>In USAF service the F-111 has been effectively replaced by the <a title="F-15E Strike Eagle" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/F-15E_Strike_Eagle">F-15E Strike Eagle</a> for medium-range precision strike missions, while the supersonic bomber role has been assumed by the <a title="B-1 Lancer" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/B-1_Lancer">B-1B Lancer</a>. In 2007, the RAAF decided to replace its 21 F-111s in 2010 with 24 <a title="F/A-18E/F Super Hornet" href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wiki/F/A-18E/F_Super_Hornet">F/A-18F Super Hornets</a>.<a href="https://dhimazbagoes.wordpress.com/wp-admin/#cite_note-SH_buy-1"><span>[</span></a></p>
