You might notice some slight delays when using the product if they are not fully installed on your machine.
Does the Office 2010 products get installed on my machine every time I use an application or when I reboot my machine?
No. The Office 2010 products are streamed to your computer and installed once. After they are streamed to your computer the product stays installed on your machine.
Do I need to be connected to the Internet when I use any of the Office 2010 applications?
You only need an internet connection to download the complete product. Once it has been fully downloaded you no longer need an Internet connection.
What happens if I lose my internet connection before the complete Office 2010 product is fully downloaded?
You can still use the Office 2010 applications. But since not all of the entire product features have been streamed to your computer, your applications may have limited capabilities, depending on what has been downloaded so far. When you connection is restored, the product will continue streaming from the point that it left off…

ZDNet can’t confirm that App-V is involved but virtualization.info just received independent confirmations.

Microsoft is not really trying to keep the secret. Here’s a video introducing the CTR edition that Microsoft published just one month ago. It doesn’t mention App-V but application virtualization is clearly mentioned:

Office CTR is in private beta at the moment. Microsoft may decide to unveil it along with the Office 2010 public beta (aka beta 2), hopefully to be unveiled at TechEd Europe 2009, November 6.

If customers will embrace Office CTR it will be a major validation for application virtualization, and Microsoft will be able to leverage the awareness and interest around it by pushing its platform in the enterprise space in a completely different way.

This may also trigger the ISVs reaction: without 3rd parties applications supported on this new platform, customers could use App-V only with Microsoft products, which is a good start but not enough to reach the level of adoption that hardware virtualization has today.

PowerShell is the Microsoft automation tool that will be built into all major products. Eventually we can expect administrative GUIs to be layered over PowerShell cmdlets and expose the commands they are running when we execute a command. This is the pattern established by the Exchange team.

James follows with a list of Microsoft products that already contain PowerShell – BTW SQL Server 2008 uses PowerShell v1 already we don’t need to wait for SQL 2008 R2 for PowerShell support.

What makes the PowerShell story even more compelling is the third party companies that are adopting PowerShell:-

Quest, Special Operations Software, IBM, Symantec, F1, Citrix, VMware

that I can think of immediately.

This makes PowerShell a tool that will be everywhere in a Microsoft environment.

The new features in PowerShell v2 – especially remoting and background jobs – make the case even more compelling for the admin of the future.

Of course the question now is how can I learn PowerShell – plus I don’t have time to automate.

Make the time the rewards are many.

Will the title come true? Probably not but if you want to do more than spend your day clicking on the GUI – learn PowerShell.

Technorati Tags: PowerShell

<gr:likingUser>04793188289459497429</gr:likingUser>

Richard Siddaway's Blog

Autistic Artist Draws 18-Foot New York Panorama from Memory

Believe it or not, autistic artist Stephen Wiltshire managed to draw this amazing 18-foot New York skyline panorama using only graphic pens and the information stored in his photographic memory. Video after the break.

'Stephen sketches his layout in pencil first and then scales it within the border, first adding in landmarks before filling out in more intricate detail,' said Iliana Taliotis, who works with Stephen and his family.

In such a case you can try Jotti’s Malware Scan, it is a free online service which scans the files though more than 20 well known virus scanning tools.

Simply visit the site from the link given at the bottom of this post, then browse and select the file that you wish to scan and hit the Submit File button. It will scan your selected file in more than 20 scanning tools like Bit Defender, Clam AV, NOD 32, Mormon, AVG, A-Squared, Dr. Web, Avast etc.

Here is how it displays the scan results with respect to different antivirus applications.

(hein Clara?)

Infact, there are various services promising free local and international calls but sadly, only handful of them works. Here is something using Yahoo Messenger which can be used to make unlimited PC to mobile calls.

Yes, there are some services working fine but just for US but this one can be used to make free local calls to India and other nations. I read this on Renjus Blog and tried and voila! it worked for me. I couldn’t resist myself to share this trick with my readers. Here we go-

How to make PC to Phone calls for free anywhere in the World?

What I need? 1. Latest Yahoo Messenger version 9.0 which supports Voice protocols. 2. Microphones

How do I start? After installing Yahoo Messenger, Sign and configure Mic and Headsets. Dial +18003733411 and hit Enter.

1. Enter Number

Now, you can see a small window calling to that number with the message : There is no charge to call this number.

2. Calling

You will be connected to Free Call and operator welcomes you. You will be given options to choose from various services from free411 and last one is Free Call. Now Say FREE CALL loudly in you microphone.

There will be short advertisement. Wait till they say -“Please dial the phone number country code first, don’t forget to dial 1 for north America”

Start dialing the desired phone number you want to call. Include Country code (eg. 91 for India) followed by the mobile / landline number.

3. Dial Phone Number to call

Start talking to the person you have called. It will last for 5 minutes (not too less) and you can repeat same procedure to reconnect.

Why Free? FREE411 service toll-free number is based in USA. This company gets paid for the advertisements from sponsors.

Any Limits or Restrictions? Not actually, you can use this service limitless.

My Verdict : Indeed a great service as I always like FREE ones. I faced problems like while dialing number of desired person- Sometimes they say “Servers are Busy,Try again” but that has to be compromised as its a free service.
In an interview with Steven Hodson published on Hodson's Shooting at Bubbles site, Bradbury admits that he is no longer employed by NewsGator, but has retained the full rights to his popular FeedDemon RSS reader. NewsGator continues to offer FeedDemon, and the application is still NewsGator-branded, but the clear implication here is that NewsGator no longer owns the rights to the most popular native Windows RSS feed reader.

It's no secret that NewsGator almost single-minded focus on capturing the lucrative enterprise market allowed its efforts in the consumer space to falter, ultimately leading to NewsGator shutting down their once-popular NewsGator Online feed reader, having conceded the online feed reader battle to Google's upstart Google Reader, which has iterated faster, and performing better than NewsGator's online reader for a few years.

It's unfortunate that NewsGator has given up on this market. While it's certainly true that Google has a powerful and successful product on its hands, there is certainly room in the RSS space for more than one dedicated company. What this means for FeedDemon's Mac equivalent, NetNewsWire remains to be seen, but since NewsGator's current push for more enterprise business relies on the talents of Brent Simmons, NetNewsWire will likely remain a NewsGator property for the foreseeable future.

Whether that is good news or not is anyone's guess.

UPDATE: The previous headline of this post turned out to be incorrect, as Nick Bradbury points out in the comments. The relationship between FeedDemon, NewsGator and Bradbury is a bit confusing, but what he said in the interview was this: "I'm no longer employed by NewsGator. FeedDemon remains a NewsGator-branded product, but I'm 100% in charge of it now, and I'm once again an indie developer. FeedDemon is my sole focus - and my sole source of income." So, NewsGator owns FeedDemon, Bradbury works on FeedDemon, but Bradbury does not work FOR NewsGator any longer.

Bradbury also pointed us to a post by NewsGator's Greg Reinacker, explaining more about where things stand.

NewsGator gives full control of FeedDemon back to developer originally appeared on Download Squad on Sun, 01 Nov 2009 19:00:00 EST.
