Wow! It has been way too long since I've posted. Sometimes life just gets a hold of you.

Since it's Wednesday, I'll share some of the things I've been hooking.

Right now I am working on 7 newborn hats and 7 newborn booties for a Baby Shower gift for my niece. I figured it would be nice to have a hat & booty set for each day of the week.

Here are some hats that I have made recently for my own little ones:

This is my daughter's Christmas hat.

Here's my son's owl hat, which he loves and I have no problem getting him to wear a hat now.

Delicious Lemongrass

Recently I won a candle from Music City Suds (http://www.musiccitysuds.com) because I helped name their new Lemongrass soy candle, Where The Lemongrass Grows.

It is scented with Lemongrass Essential Oil and as soon as I took off the cover, I was hit with a delicious smell of lemon. Not a sugary lemon, but a true natural lemon. I was very impressed with the cold throw on this, especially in a soy wax. Well, once I started burning it, it was so much better. The lemon scent danced wonderfully throughout my home and lingered nicely after I extinguished the flame.
Since there is no perfume-like smell to this candle, the strong scent is very welcoming and not overbearing in any way.

I'm also a big fan of the country music-like names of their products. Like "Take This Mop and Scrub It" or "Tanya Pucker" lip balm.

So, I give this candle and Music City Suds a big thumbs up

Back To Soaping

I've got the soaping bug again. I do love when this bug comes around, there's nothing better than good soap.
Right now I'm working on some "bakery" soaps for a Natures Garden Candles Facebook Show & Tell. You get to post pictures of your latest creations and this coming up Thursday's theme is Bakery.
So far I've got a strawberry cheesecake soap made and an apple crisp soap made.
Tomorrow I'll be starting on a fudge brownie. Do we want to make that a la mode?

Look for pictures coming this week. I'm just waiting for a nice sunny day so I can get some good light.

Little Miss Valentine

I love crocheting! This last weekend we went on a small trip and had a 4 hour drive there. So, I decided to do a little crocheting on the way there. I decided our new girl needed a Valentine hat.

On the way back I started a dinosaur hat for our son. Just have to finish it so I can post it.

Tomorrow I will be starting a week of crocheting for charity. I'll be crocheting every day and donating what I make to a woman & children's shelter. So look for my posts on what I'm making to help out others :)

Wow, where have I been?

I can't believe it's been so long since I posted. So, what have I been doing?
Having a baby

We had another little girl on January 6th and she is a little cutie. Her siblings can't get enough of her.

So, what else have I been doing? Crocheting like crazy. I've been crocheting hats, blankets, booties and little mittens for the baby. I'll post some pictures of the things I've been working on. Maybe even share some of the patterns.

I also just wanted to add, look out for a revamp of my blog and some GIVEAWAYS :)

One of the ways that I love to relax is knitting. I don't do your regular needle knitting, I do loom knitting. I've been loom knitting for about a year, but I've really just begun getting my creative juices flowing with it. Pretty much anything you can make on regular knitting needles, you can do on a loom.
Here's some of the recent projects that I've made:

This is an acorn hat I made for my 18 month old son. He loves this thing and he actually keeps it on.

Here's a Bunny Rabbit hat I made. I haven't decided who to give it to yet.

This is a Spring hat I made for my 4 yr old daughter.

This is the hat I just finished this weekend for my 7 yr old daughter. She loves it so much that she wears it inside, too.

This is Mary Jane Booties I made to match the Bunny Rabbit Hat.

I got my knitting loom at JoAnn Fabrics. I used one of their 40% off coupons to buy them for super cheap.

Uno!!

I have got to share with you how great a game Uno is. My kids got it for Christmas and I think they've played with that game more than any other toys they got. It's just the original card game, not any of the fancy newer ones, but they sure like it. Even our 4 year old daughter liked playing it with us.
Uno is a great game to help teach colors, numbers and addition. Plus, it is a nice, inexpensive and fun game.
Also, I saw on a television commercial that during this week, Uno is only $1 at participating Targets, while supplies last.

Baby It's Cold Outside

It's a tad nippy out right now and they're calling for a blizzard within the next 24 hours, so I've got our supper cooking in the slow cooker. I really enjoy using our slow cooker, especially when the holidays have us running around so much, which doesn't leave me much time to cook. But with the slow cooker, I just start it in the morning and it's ready by supper time.
Here's what's cooking in my pot today:
Day-Off Stew
Ingredients-
2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into 1 inch cubes
2 tablespoons canola oil (or any other cooking oil you'd like to use)
8 medium carrots, sliced
6 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 to 1-1/2 cups water
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
1 envelope onion soup mix

In a skillet, brown meat in oil; drain. Transfer meat to slow cooker. Top with vegetables. Combine water, tomato sauce and soup mix in a bowl; pour over meat and vegetables. Cover and cook on low for about 5 hours.

It smells really good right now. I'm pretty sure there will be leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

The Journey Begins

Hi and welcome to my blog about the ramblings of family life, frugality, cloth diapering, crafty tips and so much more. My husband and I have 4 children, ages 9, 7, 4 & 18 months. So trying to save money is a big deal in our family.
We use cloth diapers on our little one, so you'll be seeing many things about cloth diapering and many cloth diapering products.
