For their 100th anniversary Converse has put a spin on two classics to bring us the "Leather Jacket" as part of their Century Collection. The Chuck Taylor is used as the silhouette for these kicks inspired by old-school leather motor-cycle jackets. The details of these patchwork kicks include black anodized zippers, embossed Converse All-Star logo, two distinctly styled tongues and and waxed covered laces. These slick leather kicks will be available at select global retailers in July.

You know when you get that urge to have something no matter what? Yeh that's pretty much how I feel about these. Wow.

Nike is pushing the envelope once again with these edgy, fur-covered sneakers.

The unusual high top kicks are covered in a light colored fur on the sides as well as on the upper portion. They’re further embellished with golden decorations and dark brown fur on the back.

The iconic Nike swoosh can be seen on the sides of the tennis shoes in black.

I will keep you posted when more comes out on these gems.

Juicy Couture To Rebrand Menswear 'Dirty English'

Five years after Juicy Couture spun off a men’s wear line, the Liz Claiborne–owned company is finally giving the collection its own name: Dirty English. Juicy will begin the transition by rolling out a capsule of Dirty English apparel for holiday and will rename the entire men’s line by spring ’09.

“It was always an uphill climb for men’s with a name like Juicy,” explained Gela Nash-Taylor, who founded the brand in 1996 with Pamela Skaist-Levy. Known initially for its sexy women’s track suits, Juicy has tried to delineate its men’s wear line with the labeling “JM,” but, she conceded, “there was always that one guy that was not going to ever wear anything with a Juicy label in it.”

The name Dirty English was initially born out of a men’s T-shirt graphic that sold so well that the moniker was parlayed into a men’s fragrance. The fragrance, Dirty English, launched this spring in 1,400 department store doors.

Juicy's usual men's stuff was a bit meh... Hopefully this new line will have something better on offer. I'l keep you posted as it unveils.

BREAKING NEWS: Yves Saint Laurent Dead at 71

Yves Saint Laurent, the legendary designer who redefined fashion for the 20th century, died Sunday evening in Paris. He was 71.

The Pierre-Bergé-Saint Laurent Foundation confirmed the news, saying that Saint Laurent had died at his Paris home following a long illness. No further details were provided.

The reclusive French designer, a towering figure in the fashion community and beyond, retired from haute couture in 2002 following a career that spanned four decades. He was widely considered by most to be the last of a generation of skilled artisans that included Coco Chanel and Christian Dior, both of whom, like Saint Laurent, helped make Paris the fashion capital of the world.

While Saint Laurent's death has saddened the fashion community, it was no secret that he had been ill for some time. In October 2006, he slipped and fell outside a Paris restaurant during Fashion Week, suffering minor scratches on his fragile frame.

Born Yves Henri Donat Mathieu Saint Laurent on August 1, 1936 in the coastal town of Oran, Algeria, the international icon grew up during a period when the North African country was still considered part of France.

Saint Laurent took over the formidable house of Christian Dior following the death of its founder in 1957 at the age of 21. Not much later, he founded his own company in the early 1960s, setting up his headquarters in the venerable Rive Gauche, or Left Bank, of Paris. It was under the auspices of his own namesake label that Saint Laurent made himself the name that continues to be carried on today by Stefano Pilati.

Being desperately in love with this jacket, you can understand how the £275 price tag was a bit of a slap in the chops. Absolutely beautiful leather texture and colour, great use of zips and a killer hood that looks menacing and reminds me alot of them bad motherf*ckers from the Lord of the Rings.

I've been slowly justifying the purchase of this number to the point of delusion. It's real leather - which means its gonna last a long time (although I think the quality of All Saints stuff is sometimes suspect). This also means it can probably be sold easily when I get bored of it after a month :-)

The new Parka/duffle? Whatever they are I've been seeing them popping up all over the place. They seem to suit the tall and slim best, and to get the whole image you wanna rock them with skinny black jeans and pumps/Converse. My only gripe with these is that if you have yourself a very nice belt it's not gonna see the light of day again.

Dior Jumps On The Posh Phone Bandwagon

French luxury-goods company Christian Dior SA Wednesday will unveil a line of mobile phones, extending beyond its traditional fashion business to boost sales, particularly with brand-hungry consumers in new markets such as China and Russia.
The new Dior phone -- priced from €3,500, or $5,000, and up -- comes after competitors such as Prada SpA and Dolce & Gabbana have turned their fashion-branded mobile phones into significant businesses.
Dior's move comes as high-end fashion houses are crossing the boundaries of traditional fashion items to boost sales. After the licensing heyday of the 1980s, which cheapened the names of many fashion houses by putting them on items ranging from lighters to toilet-seat covers, labels reeled in their branding efforts during the 1990s.

Yet in recent years, many companies have branched out again, this time with a pledge to be more selective about how they use their name.
With mobile phones, fashion brands have insisted on taking part in both design and marketing. Last year, when Italian fashion house Prada launched a phone with South Korea's LG Electronics Inc., Prada tinkered with the touch screen and preloaded content in addition to working on the phone's basic design.

Mr. Toledano said the idea of creating a Dior phone was driven by demand in new luxury markets such as China and Russia.

Suppose it was inevitable. Doesn't look like Dior are pioneering a breakthrough in mobile phones design, though I will admit the white one would look good in the palm of your paw.

What clothing brand has a blue hot dog with ears for a logo? Ironically, a very expensive one, that has got industry insiders hyped. Limoland is "a luxury streetwear brand for prosperious people". Looks like it's in the same vein as Pharrell Williams' Billionaire Boys Club line.

You could try the Limoland website for more but all I got was a wierd lookin' fella stood next to a stretch. However the line has already made its way onto the shelves of Harvey Nicks if you wanna see this stuff in the flesh. You may also want to touch as apparently the clothes are made of Japanese cottons and the finest cashmere...

And then purchase accordingly. New limited edition IV stylers in black and white have hit the shelves. Great marketing by ghd as surely we all have some dark and some pure in us - so purchasing both can be justified, even as children go weeks without food in Africa.

Probably The Best Chair Ever

Pharrell Williams has teamed up with furniture designer Domeau & Pérès to create this chair called Perspective. According to Pharrell who designed the chair, Perspective represents the love between a woman and a man. He says,

"I had often wondered what it's like to truly be in love, not lust for once.. So I decided not to ask what it was like in someone else's shoes or what it was like to sit in their seat.. I decided to sketch out my own experiment; the perspective chair."

Perspective will come in several colors with only four chairs per color being sold. If you want to check out the chair in person, you will find it showcased at the Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin in Paris from October 21st 2008 until January 10th 2009.

Guide to the V-Neck

The v-neck is definitely a good look if you do it correct. I see way too many people wearing the shallow type and this should be AVOIDED like Sars patients circa 2003. It makes you look like a little boy (see below). I'm sorry if you own one of these but if do whiz it now.

Get yourself a nice deep v-neck, which look cool underneath most jackets or just on their own. Designer ones will put a belting hole in your pocket so best to cop from American Apparel for only £14/$20 and they get top reviews too. Would avoid the bright colours unless that's your thing, white is the best but black, cream and pink shades look good and will go with most outfits. The key to v-necks, as they show more flesh than usual, is to accessorise with a necklace or two and some wrist wear to provide the balance.

P.S. Girls love to wear these as well as they show hours of cleavage. Expect girlfriend to steal from time to time.

Designed by Pharrell Williams in collaboration with Camille Miceli (the Vuitton creative consultant who now designs jewelry for the brand and handles Marc Jacobs's personal public relations), the Blason line was concieved. However, it is yet to be birthed, but when it is, don't expect to afford any of it. The collection will be available in Louis Vuitton Shops this spring. The pieces range in price from 1,400 to 420,000 Euros, or approximately $2,070 to $621,000.

This collection from D&G impressed me so much I thought it was definitely first-post-worthy. Some of the jackets are just :-O If you want to obliterate your peers in the fashion department this winter get saving your pennies for some of this stuff. Obviously, unless your a Russian national, the hats are just gonna get you laughed at and/or smacked in the mouth.

Comme Des Garcons team up with Chromehearts

Whilst collaborations are pretty standard, it's still interesting to hear of a Comme Des Garçons and Chromehearts jewellery collection. Looking at the collection, it seems the idea of a CDG and Chromehearts collaboration is a lot more interesting than the actuality of it.

I especially like the skull and wings piece, bottom left. The rest I imagine will look better in the flesh, when they launch in Dover Street Market, London this spring.
