Still life & food photography inspiration by Anshu

"My interest was piqued by food photography when I was doing a 365 project in 2011. Challenge of clicking a pic everyday forced me to look at things closer to home and I picked up on food, as cooking is another passion for me. By the end of 2011 I was selling my food photos on various stock websites and I have been hooked ever since. I usually imply a very simple technique to take food shots, where I extensively use window light as my primary light source, building my food spreads around this light. Light plays the most important role in my photography.

Apart from food photography, I love to click nature and travel shots as much as possible. I am developing interest into street photography recently and am hugely inspired by film. There are so many excellent photographers on flickr whose work I cherish and which also serves as an inspiration to my photos.

Photography for me is a creative outlet and I am a kind of person who would rather not survive if there is no such outlet. I am immensely grateful for taking this up." ~ Anshu

"Being free is a lot like being lost – lostinagoodway

My name is Tim and I started photography only two years ago. I grew up in a lazy, boring small town near Frankfurt, Germany. There was absolutely nothing to do other than to be creative to get out. So, I started playing the guitar in a pop/rock-band; it never quite fulfilled me, but it led me on the incredible journey to photography.

In 2010, the band arranged a photo shoot with a lovely and talented American photographer, my dear friend Allister Ann from Nashville. From that day on, I was hooked! I joined her Euro-Trip, bought my first camera in Berlin, and soaked up everything I could possibly learn from her on the road.

There was never a question about analog vs. digital. I just fell in love with film – the grain, the leaks, the perfection of its imperfections. I soon got my hands on an old Canon AE1 and tried out Polaroids, Lomography – pretty much everything you could imagine. My artist name ‘lostinagoodway’ is truly my story: photography set me free and I got lost in it – but in a good way." ~ Tim Dechent

"I am a photographer based in Italy and I shoot with a Canon camera on 150mm f/2.0.

I stumbled across photography while playing in the virtual world of Second Life where most aspects are staged and quickly moved to the riskier business or real-life street photography and black and white. I am interested in movement and poses; even without cameras I am always composing; be it feelings, moods, landscaping and the many ways culture is expressed visually.
