"BRINGING MUSEUMS TO SCHOOLS PROJECT"

SMA Negeri 1 Purwosari - TLBBH Foundation

(To achieve SDG 4)

A year ago I was trying to do SDG4 at my school by "Bringing museums to schools Project". I was supported by TLBBH Foundation and also museums in UK gave me the permission to use their photos in my Museum Project.

At that time I was planning to hold it for 13 months from December 2019 to December 2020, but it was only 3 months: December, January and February 2020. Then it stopped because of some reasons, one of the reason was because of Covid 19. The school was closed!.

I was full of spirit at that time, I wanted to achieve SDG4. I wanted to make my students have a lot of information about museums in other countries and also museum in my country. I have contacted some museums in other countries to get permissions to display their photos in my project. I also came to visit museums in my country to get the photos to display. I used my own money to buy the things that I needed in making or holding that project even I have spent my money to go to Museum of The First President of Indonesia in Blitar and stayed for a night there.

The museums were:

a. Museum of London (December 2019)

b. Museum of London Docklands ( December 2019)

c. Mpu Purwa Museum in Malang, East Java ( January 2020)

d. Ganesha Museum in Malang, East Java ( January 2020)

e. Natural History Museum in London ( February 2020)

f. Sukarno Museum in Blitar, East Java ( March 2020....still planning) the school was closed

Reflection:

I found that principal, teachers and students were more interested in the display racks than seeing and reading the photos. They wanted to have the display racks to do their activities. Actually they had ideas to do like what I was doing but the problems were on the fund. They did not have the ability or were no brave to sacrifice to do it. I used my own money and every month had to spent for displaying photos and also bought the display racks for the first month.

It seemed that all person at my school had different perspectives in museum project, That's why I did not get the optimal response from the school. Many heads must be many opinions. Actually the power of principal had the powerful decision. I got the permission to do museum project only permission, still need optimal support from the powerful person at my school. I was so disappointed because only 2 or 3 teachers of 70 teachers that used my museum project for teaching. I found that Changing the mindset of teachers is more difficult than changing the mindset of students.

Then how to make Indonesia achieve SDG4 if we do not hand in hand to improve the quality education? If there are still many different opinions about something that someone is doing then some persons still focus on the selfishness then we have to stuck at the place where we stand forever while other countries are running to achieve SDGs.

Due to Covid 19, maybe I have to learn how to make virtual museum project so that the students can visit it from their homes. What I have to think is that the virtual museum must be like online games, I think it will be more interesting than the displayed photos. Who can teach me to do it? I still have some homework I have to do ........

I asked some students to arrange the photos again when they found the photos almost fell from the display racks.

I was so happy when I found my students visited my museum project

To make them visit the museum project, as the teacher I forced them to visit it

The students that visited my project were the students in the classes I taught

They wanted to visit because I gave them assignment that they had to do by using the photos in the museum project

When they went home they could spend a while to visit the museum project

Sometimes I helped them by explaining the photos

I had to move the display rack in order to be safe. It seemed that students and teachers did not like the display racks was put there because they felt that the racks disturbed their way to walk

Every morning I found my museum project in this condition. I myself had to put all photos one by one and put them again on the display racks
Some said that the wind and the rain blew them but my students said that there may be something else.

I moved the museum project to other side in order to be safe and wished that students were curious to see, and read them but they just passed the museum project without being curious. How to make students, teachers curious ? Or maybe my museum project was not interesting for them.

Storytelling

1. After you create the story and send the messages, you post your story on your blog and give the title of your page "STORYTELLING"

2. You have to tell your story to your family, and make a video and photo when you are telling the story. In telling the story to your family, you may use bahasa Indonesia and will write the subtitle in English in your video.

3. One student must visit and read 2 stories of other students from different class and give the comment and what are the moral messages that you can get from the story of your friend. Write them in the comment space on your friend's blog.

4. Make poster about moral messages to save animals. Post in your blog. And will make a poster exhibition online.

Songs

Song is a brief composition written or adapted for singing. Song has some different type. They are classical, pop, rock, metal, country, hip hop, ballads, dance, and love song. Song lyric is divided into four parts, they are title of song, the singer, lyric, and chorus of song lyric.

Types of Songs

Classical Songs : As the name suggests, classical songs are those in which traditional music has main role. For example, Symphony No. 9: Ode to Joy – Luwig Van Beethoven.
Pop Songs : Pop Songs are those which have contemporary lyrics and upbeat rhythm, basically for the youth culture. For example, I do – Colbie Cailat.
Rock Songs : Rock songs are most popular teenagers and youngsters. They consist of clear pieces of lead guitar, drums, and keyboards as some of the main instruments. For example, Starlight - Muse.
Metal Songs : Metal songs are a bit more hard-sounding than rock songs. For example, Carpe Diem Baby – Metallica.
Country Songs : Country songs are suitable for easy listening. They mainly consist of clean lyrics with music pieces using classical guitars and other traditional instruments. For example, Mean – Taylor Swift.
Hip-Hop Songs : In Hip- Hop or rap songs, the singers recite lyrics in an off-beat manner but with the continuity of the rhythm. For example, Lose Yourself – Eminem.

Answer the following questions!

3. Write the parts of the song lyric as the above example!

Love and Wisdom Lessons in Spring Cohort 2020

Now you do reflection for what you did in the past, write your activities that could endanger the plants, water, air, animals or maybe other human beings. You have to think and bring your mind to your past time, and try to realize that what you did was not right actually.

It is the best time to learn from home and the best time for you to do reflection.

Go around your house from the living-room, bed-room, kitchen, all rooms in your house! then look at the things in those rooms, think hard which things that can cause pollution. What kinds of pollution? Think again what do you and your family do so there are those things in your house?Are they in your house because of your daily activities and from your hobbies or from your habit? Write your activities dealing with those things using Past tense!
Then change those activities now, write them using present continuous what you are doing at home now dealing with your daily activities! Don't forget that you have to take the photos of your activities!
After you feel that what you are doing are good, then you must try to do your best, make action plan for future activities.

The Amazing Life Cycle of Monarch Butterfly

"How long does a monarch live?" "Why do monarchs migrate south?" The answers to these two questions go hand-in-hand. Children ask them all the time. Most monarchs live from two to six weeks as an adult butterfly, but the Monarch's migration is the key to its yearly life cycle.

The total time frame for one butterfly's life cycle (one generation) is about 6-8 weeks......egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, butterfly. It grows inside the egg for about 4 days. It then munches milkweed and grows as a monarch caterpillar (larvae) for about 2 more weeks. The caterpillar's life inside the chrysalis (pupa) lasts about 10 days and its wonderful life as an adult butterfly lasts from 2-6 weeks.

February/March - hibernating monarch in Mexico and southern California reawaken, become active, find a mate, begin the flight northward and lay their eggs. Finally they die. These special monarchs have lived about 4-5 months through the long winter.

March/April-the 1st generation monarchs are born-egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, adult butterfly; May/June - the 2nd generation is born- egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, adult butterfly; July/August - the 3rd generation is born - egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, adult butterfly; Sept/Oct - the 4th generation is born - egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, adult butterfly .......but THIS generation does not die.

In migrates south and lives 6-8 months in Mexico or Southern California. They begin awakening and mating in February/March of the next spring, and then lay their eggs! Withered and tattered from their migration and hibernation they finally die.

The cycles goes on as the new baby caterpillars are born each spring and the cycle continues throughout the year into the next spring. MAGICAL and AMAZING!

Monarchs are a primary example of true migration in insects. From their natural home in the Western Hemisphere, they have spread to Hawaii, Indonesia, the Canary Island, and Australia.
