My unorganized desk, full of all the things I think I need to work. This picture was taken back when I was taking full time classes, some online and some at school. All while working full time. Lets see a calendar, calculator, bin full of bills that I cannot make sense out of , and an accounting book ( I passed this course with an A I don't know how). Let 's look some more two melamine cases stacked with a multitude of books that I possibly will never look at again. Oversized blinds that sag. One curtain with fabric to hold it back. This is the way my office area looked. I will come back to this with pictures to show its progression. What I want to show is how a procrastinator can get things done when they put their minds to it.

Paint it, Share it, Show it

FEAR is a dirty word,I face that word everytime I bring a painting or a photo out in the publics eye. The lesson that has been a life time in learning is to face the disapprovals,the nodding heads and the tongue clackers. Yes, face your fears, don't worry about everyone else. Find a venue for your art and show it, sell it, and continue to create it. I recently listed a painting for sale that I felt was not good enough. I was surprised someone loved it, bought it, and told me that it touched a place in her memory. I have found that the paintings I am unsatisfied with sell. This is'nt the first time. So lessoned learned. When your painting is finished, share it, show it, price it right and someone will buy it.

On Display

The Okefenokee Heritage Center Art Guild has a fabulous display at the Satilla Regional Hospital in Waycross Ga. All the paintings there are for sale. The proceeds will help with the Heritage Center and the Hospitals Auxillary. Please stop by (if you are in Waycross )and help these fine groups out with a purchase of new original art from the local artists in South Georgia.

I love the fall season and all of these items represent fall to me, pumpkins of course, and a burning candle in a rich scent, as well as wine made from the grapes of summer. Kites on the Loose

Sometimes I feel as though my life is like a kite. Kites are an instrument of flying, they catch a breeze and soar to unmeasurable heights. Their canvases fills with air and they move with each little breeze, to the left, to the right, and sometimes they just crash hard, right on to the ground. It depends on how much string it has, the wind and the person who is in control.

A day in the Country

Breaking away from school and work, I had a day of picking grapes and enjoying friends. I find that you have to take a break once in awhile and get out into the country, hear nothing but the birds singing, the wind rustling through the pine trees, and enjoy the sweet aroma of fresh cut grass. These are the the moments I used to enjoy, when I lived in the country. Now I have the hustle and bustle of the city around me. Trucks with their roaring engines and squealing brakes. Sounds of fire engines and ambulances. The smell of rubber and the heat of the asphalt. Yes, I did enjoy my day off in the country and I think about it now three weeks later.

Twilight Passages

Despite working full time and going to school in
the evenings, I took a little time and became creative again. Although time is limited you have to give your self to a little pleasure. This painting is like my life right now. A path that I can not see where it is leading to, not fully lit, and full of bends and turns, just beyond the wild hydrangeas. I placed it on facebook before I put it on display at Ashley Furniture Homestore in Waycross Ga. I gave those on facebook the opportunity to name this piece.The purpose was to see what feeling it evoked from others. I received alot of responses from around the East Coast, I took a variation and came up with the name Twilight Passages - 18x24 original oil on canvas.

Business Courses

I have been taking business courses since the beginning of the year. If you have the opportunity to go back to school, I would suggest to do it. The main thing that I am learning is you need to sit down and write all your ideas down. Get a piece of paper start jotting ideas as they come to you. You forget more than you remember in one day. This way you can go back and go through your ideas, and narrow down your thoughts to a plan. I spent my whole life going through each day without a plan, and I found through the years without a plan you usually have nothing to show for your day. But if you plan out your day, your week ,your month, your year, you will be amazed at all you can accomplish. So get out a piece of paper, find that pencil and start a writing.

Back to School

This winter I began school, technical school to be exact. My courses will help me in furthering my business plans. I am taking Marketing / Entrepreneurial, as well as working full time in a retail setting. The goal I have is, to start my own business in a field that I love. That field is art, to narrow it down to one area is what I am learning to do. One of the courses that I have finished is English. Now I haven't mastered the art of writing, but thanks to Yolanda Priest( who taught the subject this past semester), I have been inspired to begin writing. We will see where it leads to, I hope I can encourage someone who has the same fears as I.

Thank you for following me through the Year 2009. It will a new adventure into 2010. I hope to continue growing as an artist, and shareing all that I learn in the process. I began my life as a major procrastinator. As adulthood continually creeps up on me, I have fought my way through it bravely. The secret to being sucessful is planning and organization. Follow me through 2010 and experiance it with me.

Back to School and the Heron

I have decided to continue my education. As of January I will be back in school. I am tired of trying to teach myself things in the school of hard knocks. So this winter I will take courses in business. As a creative being I want to explore the best means to promote and sell the work I create. So this is a new journey for me. Oh I also work full time………. Will keep you informed.

Sea Bright Beach Club

This summer I made a trip home and I promised that I would be painting some of my views. While my husband was fishing, I had the opportunity to catch some nice vistas. This painting was based on a view from SeaBright on the Jersey Shore. If any one step beyond the sea wall you would see this colorful sight. It was such a gloomy day and it was our last day there. Yet these brightly painted buildings added so much to an everyday view of dunes and the sea. This painting is available for sale 16x20 on Gallery wrapped canvas.

Not long ago we traveled to Banks lake in Lakeland Ga. This is a picture taken from a video I shot.What wonderful inspiration these giant beauties played. Since then I have painted a couple of paintings in a series that I will soon put on display. Reflections are fascinating to me and I try to put some in alot of my pieces. I grew up on the oceanfront and the swamp has alot to take from it as well. I will try next time to capture some of the natural animal and small plants to continue on with my swamp theme. Will post some of the paintings shortly.

Painting familiar objects is so much fun. Yet I found a photo of my cousin from years ago and challenged my self to recreate my cousin from years ago. Based on an old photo and memory I began by marking in oil paint on a canvas the dimensions of his face. Once I had everything in proportion I under painted the darker areas and determined where the light was. His eyes were fun ,his skin was always dark from being an asphalt paver but his eyes were light. I loved the contrast. So it took me about an hour to complete. I will try to do another soon. This left me feeling that you can take a familiar and make it speak volumes. His sister came to visit me and I sent it home with her. So good bye to Blacktop Sam maybe I will get to see him in person this summer after 24 years.

I have recently framed a few paintings and have some of them on display throught the town I live in. This is one that is for sale. I painted this on a 16x20 canvas in oil. It is very colorful painting and the picture really doesn't do it justice. It was done in my original studio in Alabama, back in 2003. We lived on a beautiful lake and this was based on the lake we lived on. It is on display at Ashley Furniture in Waycross Ga. If you would like it email me for the price.

My husband is an avid fisherman. His favorite outfit is a fishing vest a big straw hat and a fishing pole. He graciously posed for this. So to all the fishermen out there, don't let the big one get away.
This is an oil painting done in the alla prima way(wet on wet all on one sitting] I first sketched in the the composition and loosely painted in the details. It is done on a 8x10 professional canvas board. Contact me if you would like this painting or wish me to paint something for you.

Last of the Tomatos

As winter hits us full force this January, this is the last of the tomatos off of our plant. After so many interuptions and excuses , I finally picked up the paint brushes again. I hope you enjoy the idea of fresh tomatos just ready for the table. Don't forget the salt and pepper.
